Because I'm concerned about transportation back to VWL late at night, I've come up with a plan, but I need to know how long the monorails run at night. Also, what are the loops? Resort/Resort/Resort/TTC? Epcot/TTC/MK?
(OK, here's the plan, we drive to TTC from VWL, board the Monorail and grab a late dinner at any of the MK Resorts, or even World Showcase. Later, board the monorail, exit at TTC, hop in the car for a short ride back to VWL)!

With the Magic Kingdom Resorts the loop is the Contemporary, TTC, Polynesian, Grand Floridian and Magic Kingdom. That is the order my family and I are use to because we always stay at the Contemporary.

After that there is the Express Monorail which goes from the TTC to the Magic Kingdom and back to the TTC.

Finally there is the Monorail from the TTC to Epcot and back to the TTC.

I can tell you that the standard hours of operation for the Resort Monorail is from 7:00 AM - 12:00 AM, however the hours change if it's evening EMH at the Magic Kingdom or if the Magic Kingdom happens to close very late like at 2:00 AM on major holidays.

Well then, my plans are coming together perfectly!! (rub hands together, insert sinister laugh here).

If you have a car, why not just drive to where you want to be? Or take the boat from MK to VWL if you're at a MK resort restaurant?

If you take the monorail from Epcot to TTC, and then want to take the monorail to either MK or any of the monorail resorts, you'll have to get off the monorail you took from Epcot, walk down and cross over and back up to the resort line. You can't take a monorail from Epcot to MK directly...just wanted to be sure you realized that.

Thanks. Ya, I might be overthinking all of this. This will be our first trip to VWL. We are two adults who like to eat about 9 pm and have some cocktails at night. I'd prefer to avoid our own car all together but that seems to limit the "late" dinner choices. I thought TTC was really close to VWL so when I'm the designated driver, I'd have just a short trek. (I'm not great with directions). All info is much appreciated. I'll have more questions I'm sure. :3dglasses

The buses from MK(or any other park) will run atleast 1 hour after the park closes, Disney doesn't want you stranded either. Every park has a bus to WL, so if you don't want to drive you don't have too. Even as a last resort so to speak the buses to and from PI run until it empties out(after 2AM).

ETA: I think to get to the TTC lot from WL you will have to circle back around, because you are already past the parking lot entrance when you leave WL. It may have changed, I haven't tried it in a while.
