Monorail resort dilemma

Sounds like you are skipping AKL only because the pool is closed. So does this mean you will stay at AKL next time you return?
In that case, this could mean it would be quite a while before you have a chance to stay at CR, right? Or a few trips from now at least. Which means the cost at CR would only go up.
So me, I'd stay at CR. $300 for what I want is worth the cost. Seeing how it may be a while before I get to pick what I want again.

It's not particularly inconvenient either, using the launch.
We use the launch when we stay at the GF and I agree that it is better than the monorail. But it does take some time to get back to the resort whereas walking to the Contemporary would be faster. :)

But having to wait through a couple of boats is inconvenient since those boats are so darn small. And having to wait for the 2nd stop to get to Poly. I wish they'd give each their own boat,
So for us, walking to CR does win out over getting back to GF or Poly. Heck, me, I'd rather be walking back than standing waiting on a boat.
CR is my favorite of the 3 monorail resorts.

I would definitely stay in CR. I'm spending a little extra to stay at AKL CL for my upcoming trip in August so my kids can have the experience. An additional $300 is worth having the experience of your bucket list resort. Enjoy.

I think for MNSSHP, so long as you don't leave after the fireworks, you won't have problems either walking straight onto a launch or monorail. That's been my experience, anyway. The only times things get rough is at the key exit times.

The boat ride to GF or Poly is one of my favorite “disney” moments. I view that as a plus over walking.

I agree with others that poly would not suit your needs, but GF in my view is a major upgrade from CR. That resort is so beautiful, with amazing dining, goegeous pools and landscaping. My kids call it the castle hotel! It is by far our favorite hotel we have stayed at. Outer building is a non issue as nothing is a far and the walk very scenic.

I was not a fan of having to walk back to CR at the end of a long day when I was hot or tired. But we LOVE the boat back to the Grand! Staying in an outer building is still a beautiful thing especially if you have pool or lake view. The pool there is great! There is zero entry, lots of kids and they also have a fun smaller pool with a tipping tea pot. Have you considered a split stay?
When we went to Baylake, we didn't find it to be a bad walk at all. For those who didn't want to walk, you have the monorail or take the boat.

There is no Boat to Baylake or CR from MK it is walk or monorail.

I have enjoyed the view from CR lake view as well as BLT in the past but I do not like the décor of the rooms nor the resort itself. As far as transportation the walk is reasonable but when staying there did not really want to walk back and forth. Taking the monorail is a paid going fast coming back barring a wait. I have always found the boat to Poly and GF to be just as fast as the walk even with having to let a boat go and truthfully the only time that has happened when the park closes.
I do enjoy the view of Bay Lake but beyond that Poly and GF are far nicer resorts especi

When we stay at GF we always stay in an outer building. We love them. They're quiet, there's a nice seating area in the entrance of each building that is rarely busy, the views are lovely whether it's garden view or lagoon view. It's not that far to get to the main building or monorail but even more convenient to the boat launch to get to MK. It's convenient to the pools. DH really wanted to stay in the main building the first time we went but it was mostly or all club level which I didn't feel we'd get much use out of so I talked him into one of the outer buildings. He has no interest now in being in the main building.

I'd forget about the $300 and stay where I wanted. When talking MK deluxe resort prices, $300 would not be a factor in my decision.

So my opinion, FWIW, would be to stay at the CR in the tower.

BTW, the second floor of Poly CL does not have balconies - just like the other Poly resort rooms. All the buildings that have balconies on the second floor are part of DVC now.

You can’t go wrong with any of the monorail resorts. They’re all great. But CR Tower has a special place in my heart. Amazing views. Super cool monorail cruising through. The sound of chef mickeys “celebrate “ song heard throughout in the mornings. Cali grill. Walk to mk. Stick with your bucket list.

Thank you all for your input. DH’s opinion was “do what you want” and DD8.5 was “OMGTHEPOOLTHATSLIDEOMGYES!” and since she’s heartbroken over no AKL (because of the pool), Poly it is!

I believe they are doing a split stay: 2 nights at pop and 2 at a deluxe.

Yes we’re slready splitting - 2 at Pop, 4 deluxe. (I misspoke originally. Been up doing ADRs since 5:30am. *cry*)

We’ll be back at least twice next year, maybe even more. We’ve gone from DH being “once is enough” to “we should look into DVC” We’ll be upgrading his ticket to an AP while we’re there, and I’ll likely get one late winter. One of our trips next year will be CL anywhere, the other most likely at AKL.

I’d stay with your bucket list. If that’s CR I’d do that. For me personally I’d pick gF or Poly over CR. We’ve had wonderful standard views at both.

Lol. Our DH must be twins separated at birth

You have a good dilemma to figure out. I'm battling one myself for a stay next week. Ploy CL vs CR CL
