We will be staying at the Contemporary. I heard somewhere that the MK express monorail is just for guests staying at the Grand Floridian, is this true?

Also, we are probably going to be taking the Epcot Monorail on 2 different days. I've heard you take one monorail to the TTC and then you transfer and take another monorail to Epcot. What is the quickest way to get to the TTC? Do we need to look for a special monorail? We are thinking for easier way back to the Contemporary we take the monorail back to TTC, get off and transfer to a Magic Kingdom monorail and once we get to MK use the walkway back to the Contemporary. Does this sound right, is this quicker then the Resort Monorail?
If we can use the Magic Kingdom Express monorail is there any special colors we need to look for or will there be signage?

Thank you for any help!

1- No. All monorails can be ridden by all guests. (The MK Express Monorail doesn't even stop at the Floridian.)
2- Yes.
3- From the CR. Get on the Resort Monorail and get off at the next stop (TTC.)
4- No. There is only one monorail route that stops at the CR.
5- That'll work, but you won't likely save much time, if any.
6- Signs are posted at the entrances at TTC and MK.

There are actually THREE monorail routes (with multiple trains running on each route).

On each route, the trains will "loop" around and around on their own unique track.

1) "Epcot Monorail" TTC > Epcot > TTC > (loop runs clockwise)
2) "MK Express Monorail" TTC > MK > TTC > (loop runs counter-clockwise)
3) "Resort Monorail" TTC > Poly > Grand Floridian > MK > Contemp. > TTC > (loop runs clockwise)

As you can see, you can transfer from or to any monorail at the TTC (which is also the MK parking lot).

You may ride any and all of these, if you like.
They do not "let you out" INSIDE any theme-park,
so you don't need a park ticket.

There are two monorail loops around the lake. The express loop (counter-clockwise) stops at the MK and TTC only; the resort loop (clockwise) stops at the Poly, GF, and CR in addition to the MK and the TTC.

At the TTC, you can board another monorail to get to Epcot. You best bet from GF is to take the resort loop to the TTC.

When you are at the Contemporary, just take the monorail to the TTC. When you get off walk down the ramp and you will see the sign for the Epcot monorail. Walk up that ramp and get on. There are only two monorail lines at the TTC, so it's not too confusing. When you leave Epcot, just do it in reverse - monorail to TTC, the TTC to Contemporary.

Thanks to all of you!!!

The last time we rode the Resort monorail on the way back it took FOREVER so this is I am asking about the MK express monorail.

There are 3 monrail routes:
The Express - runs counterclockwise between the TTC and MK.
The Resort Monorail - runs clockwise around the TTC, Poly, GF, MK, and CR.
The Epcot Monorail runs between the TTC and Epcot.

So there is no monorail just for GF guests.

If you're staying at the CR, any monorail that comes through will be making the resort monorail loop. This is the quickest way for you to get to the TTC, where you then have to transfer to the Epcot monorail to go to Epcot.

No specials colors to watch out for - there are plenty of well marked signs at every monorail stop.

Thanks to all of you!!!

If the Resort Monorails are "backed up and slow" due to heavy guest traveling times (after fireworks, after parades, closing time,) the MK Express will be super busy, as well.

You will not be able to take the MK Express monorail from the Contemporary. It goes between the TTC and MK only. You could take the resort monorail to the TTC and then transfer to the Express monorail, but that will take far longer than just staying on the resort monorail to the MK. You'd have to disembark the resort monorail, walk down the ramp, walk up another ramp to the Express monorail and then wait for that train. Staying on the resort monorail is going to be significantly quicker. That said, your absolute quickest way to the MK is to walk. There is a path from the Contemporary and it should take you between 5 and 10 minutes to get there.

To get to EPCOT you'll need to take the resort monorail to the TTC and then transfer to the EPCOT monorail.

Have a great trip!

When you arrive at the TTC after getting off the Resort Monorail you will walk to your left where it says the Epcot Monorail which will take you down a ramp and back up another ramp, so it's very easy to do and you can not miss it.

Now since your staying at the Contemporary when going to the Magic Kingdom it would actually be faster to use the walkway when going there, because the Resort Monorail will stop at the TTC, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian before it arrives there. However on the plus side when returning the Contemporary is the next stop when leaving from the Magic Kingdom via the Resort Monorail.

Wow, you even know which direction I walk or roll in my case. lol. You are just incredible! I believe we plan on walking to MK for all our trips. I was just thinking we could use MK as our home base on the way back from Epcot so we don't have all the stops of the Resort Monorail.

Thank you and after so many times staying at the Contemporary and going to WDW, by now I should know the way each of the routes work.
