Monorail Question

I am staying at the All Star Movies Resort. We will be taking the shuttle bus to the parks.

Am I going to have to take the monorail at any point to get around?

How do I make sure I'm on the right one?

This is my first family trip to WDW and I will be doing most of the navigating. I just like to be prepared - it avoids many arguments :rolleyes1

No reason to take the monorail unless you want to. You will take a bus to all parks from Movies. The bus will drop you right at the front of MK, so no need to take the monorail. But, if you want to ride it, it's pretty easy to do. You can get on at the MK (there are signs directing you to the platform), and you can board the Resort Line and go around the entire resort loop....the monorail will stop at the CR, then the TTC (ticket and transportation center), the Polynesian, the GF, then back to MK.
Now, if you are at MK and you want to head over to Epcot, well, then you will have to take the monorail. You would take the monorail to the TTC, and then transfer to the Epcot line...all very nicely marked.

You will find that all transportation at WDW is very easy....everything is well marked....buses, boats, monorail. Makes it very easy to move around. Once you get there, you'll find it easy to understand.

If you take the bus to MK it will drop you off very close to the MK entrance, no need to take the monorail.
Each of the other parks have their own bus stop.

All the buses are clearly marked as to where they are going, both to the parks and returning to your resort.

The only time you might want to take the monorail is to travel between MK and Epcot, but it will require a monorail transfer at the TTC.

Some basic rules of WDW transportation - subject to some exceptions:

- There are no resort-to-resort buses. To get from resort to resort, generally you need to get to a park, and then find a bus from that park to the destination resort.
- There is park-to-park transportation, varying from boats between DHS and EPCOT, monorail (with the transfer at TTC) between MK and EPCOT, and buses between other parks.

Exceptions about getting from resort to resort: resorts on the resort monorail loop (CR, Poly and GF), resorts on the EPCOT-DHS boat loop (BC/YC, Swan/Dolphin, and BWI), and resorts from Downtown Disney's boats (POR and POFQ). There are other exceptions, but I honestly can't think of them now. :)

It really is easy to get around. A little patience is in order at times, but it's not difficult at all.
