Is it just me or is the search function not working??

Anyway, my DD loves watching the Monorail go by when we are waiting for the park to open. I thought it would be a treat for her to ride it into the park instead. What time does the Monorail start working from DTD? Or, can we hop onto the Monorail from the DL Hotel?

The monorail starts running when the park opens. So if it is a MM day, then it starts running when MM starts. They will only let you ride it if you have MM entry, which you will if you are staying at the DL Hotel. It is in downtown disney, not at the hotel.

By all accounts, you loose about 10 minutes in the morning by waiting for the monorail. We like to walk in, arriving early, so we are first through the gates. If that is not important to you, then ride the monorail.

Note that no drinks are allowed on the monorail. Last visit, we stopped for coffee ($5.coffee at that) and they let us through the turnstile and then at the top of the platform told us no coffee. I was not going to dump my brandnew coffee out, so we waited for the next train.

The good news was that we asked if we could sit up front with the driver, and since we were first in line, they said "yes". It was really fun, and actually the second time we got to do that on that trip. I understand sitting in the back is really fun too.

Not 100% but it should open and be running from DTD station to Tomorrowland at the opening time. You can see if they are going to take entrants from the DTD station before they open if they are getting the area ready with the CMs setting up the security check and gates/turnstial area.

If you sit in front, once the train arrives at Tomorrowland you can ask the pilot CM if you can take pictures sitting in the driver's seat. It's a great photo op and they always say "of course!"

Great. Thank you for the responses. Maybe we will wait until the afternoon to ride the Monorail. I don't want to miss valueable park time. I have heard about piloting the Monorail and will ask about it when we are on the platform.

As much as I love the Monorial and can't wait for the new Mark 7 trains to go into operation later this year... That said, there is nothing better than entering the park for the first time that day and walking down Walt's personal Main Street!

Stand at the front of Main Street and jump in a car or the Omnibus, totally fun to see everything from that perspective as you roll down Main Street.

We like to take the Monorail to exit DL. We go all the time, but the kids are still sad to walk out of the park. Riding out makes our visit just a teeny bit longer.
