After the last two incidents with the monorail getting stopped on the track for hours on end and the removal of guests from the top emergency door with, I guess, a cherry picker, I can't get on the thing. This is my confession. I am not afraid it is going to fly off the tracks onto the road below. I am not afraid of terrorists, explosions or extreme weather causing a Monorail incident. I am afraid of being stuck for hours. I can get quite claustrophobic. Just thinking about it makes my chest tight. I have never had any anxiety over riding the cursed this before. I'm sure it will improve in time, but I nearly had a bug out at the TTS on our last trip in October. Is anyone else having new anxiety?

I do! My nephew insists on taking the monorail at least once a trip, and I have been telling him if we get stuck, he gets to deal with me freaking out!

No anxiety here. Fortunately for those that do have some anxiety there are ready alternatives to the Monorail.

The only thing I would be concerned about, in the remote occurance of a stoppage lasting hours, would be the lack of bathroom facilities. Fortunately, the phobic have other transportation alternatives- boats, buses, or feet.

Yes, OP, I am right there with you! I don't care if it's irrational, I'm swearing off the monorail specifically because of those two incidents. I'm not claustrophobic, but being stuck for hours and climbing out the roof are no-gos!

I thought I was the only one! We used to ride it as much as possible now it's a once a trip thing. We also plan to ride it when we are in no rush and all use the bathroom first just in case. Nuts, I know!

I think about it all the time. I don't mind climbing through the roof if I have to. Just get me out!!!

I always carry extra water and mints with me in case claustrophobia sets in. Keeping hydrated is the key to keeping me calm.

This reminds me of our last trip. Getting onto Monorail after the fireworks. Of course there are hundreds of folks waiting to get on. A lady at the front of the line gets on,the train fills up, she panics, gets out. Says "Ill wait for the next one". Of course the next one will be swamped too. Wonder how long she had to wait till it cleared out enough for her to be comfortable?

I hope you're never stuck on a lift hill on Splash Mountain. That was awful. No way out on your own because of the lap bar, and then a treacherous walk back downhill trying not to fall in the flume. With CMs screaming at everyone not to take backstage photos. (Instead of reassuring people who were nervous that everything would be ok.)

Me too. I have a few posts about how I could not handle getting stuck in the monorail. I do not ride it anymore, even though I did enjoy it but I go on the TTA numerous times and it's close. I know I would be super uncomfortable if I got stuck in the monorail and especially when they are jammed packed with people most of the time.

My family teased me endlessly last trip about me refusing to ride the monorail. Rationally I know it rarely happens, but with my luck we'd be stuck in there. I had medical issues that wouldn't be good if we were stuck in there for hours. So we took the ferry.

You have every right to have monorail phobia if you need to get somewhere, like to the airport, on time. I would recommond the ferry over the monorail when leaving Magic Kingdom for the parking lot on that last day.

This is me. I would end up being the one to pee my pants for sure!

Looks like they damaged the front of Monorail Coral last night. Though no passengers were aboard and they were doing things that they wouldn't do with passengers. Looks like it was out of service as part of a test/maintenance and the towing tractor hit it. No idea how long it will be out of service.

Maybe this information doesn't help your phobia, but it happened.

Maybe they should create some emergency survival lockers in the monorail cars. Probably Mickey would just stock them with water and cheese though. Could put in one of those rope ladders you hand down from your bedroom window. Well maybe 5 of them put together.
