Monorail messes tonight!

By reading these posts, you'd think the monorail was down more than it was running. Truth is that it is extremely reliable and very rarely breaks down.

We were there for two weeks in December before Christmas and it was down twice that we were aware of. I also saw threads about it being down quite a bit last summer. Even the CM's agreed that it is down quite a bit lately. When we were there in December at least the one time it was down due to computer issues. We ran into more computer issues at various places this trip than any other.

Last fall during our trip we had to wait for them to clear a train that had broken down off from the track as well. Our trips prior we had never experienced the monorail being down.

From a guest perspective, it can run perfectly 24/7 for a year, but if it breaks down while they're on it en route to MK, causing them to be late for or miss their CRT dinner ADRs, it's "unreliable."

versus the CM perspective which is "it breaks down everyday, haven't you heard?"

We used to trash monorails on the open mic to guests all the time. They're terrible and need replacing, but Disney doesn't view them as a revenue generating area so they don't get anything.

At this point the monorails being reliable falls under the same myth as Walt Disney frozen below the castle. Urban Legend...
