Monorail loading -- Why do they do it this way??

Please don't flame me for asking this question. Maybe there is just some simple reasoning that I am not seeing :p

When I was at Disney World yesterday, everytime i was at the monorail stations they would have everyone lined up on the ramp and would not let anyone go near the monorail gates until the monorail was in the station, unloaded, and the doors opened. This seemed to make things go soooooooo sloooow. In the past. We've always been able to line up at the gates to wait on the monorail and never had to wait on the ramp. Is there a reason for this?

I was at the MK on the 15th and we were able to wait right at the monorail gate. Just my thought....but maybe has something to do w/ recent transportation bombings? (Totally a shot in the dark, but maybe?) :confused3

It seems to depend when you go. I go quite often and sometimes they have everyone lined up by the electric gates to go on when the door opens. Sometimes they have you wait for the monorail to unload.

I was thinking the same thing. If you dont have a lot of time near the loading and unloading you cant leave bad stuff there?

Could be a lot of reasons.....
(just random guesses here, but...)
~Could be training new cast the different procedures in loading/unloading...
~Could be an efficiency thing, perhaps holding back gains more control of how many guests are sent to each car (avoiding an overload on the dock)...
~Could be another monorail on the line close behind and only letting a certain amount through in order to load & go to keep that train moving (or, just the opposite, holding back and gathering the crowd together because the following one was further off)
~could be multiple large tour groups on board with no way of knowing beforehand if they'll be disembarking at a particular stop or not ( and so why load guests on the dock in front of cars which may or may not empty out)

~a lot depends upon guest flow, capacity and demand which constantly fluctuates....how many trains are in operation at the time, etc.....the cast are using radios, and giving load instructions to each other which may change for different operational needs or reasons.
