I thought I read that you can take the monrail from MK to Epcot but I can't find the thread anywhere. Is this true? I am not familiar with the monrail system, is it 1 monorail that runs from the MK, thru the Poly, the GF and the CR and a different one that runs to Epcot? :confused3 . just wondering, it sounded like a nice ride to cool off and relax with little ones.
thank you ::MinnieMo

No. You have to change at the Ticket and Transportation Center. It's easy to do, though.

Hi and welcome!

Technically, there is no monorail directly from the entrance of the MK to the entrance of Epcot. You need to take the MK monorial back to the TTC then switch for the Epcot monorail.

There are 3 monorail lines:

1) Epcot to TTC and back
2) resort monorail...runs clockwise from MK to CR to TTC to Poly to GF and back to MK
3) express monorail...stops only at MK and TTC.

Hope this helps,

Bob

It's very easy at the TTC to see which monorail goes to Epcot. It's a fun ride, especially if you get to ride with the pilot.

And now for a slightly different opinion -

The monorail isn't a ride, it is public transportation. If you enjoy the monorail, fine, good for you. But I wouldn't ride the monorail just to relax. While it is certainly better than a bus, it is still public transportation, and people get on and off at every stop. Your car might get crowded with people who are arguing with their wife, scolding their children or just smelly from a hot day at the park. And that is not my idea of relaxing.

I HATE taking the monorail to Epcot! LOL! Call me lazy, but I think it is a pain to get off at TTC (from MK and the resorts), walk down the looooong ramp to the TTC just to walk back up another loooooong ramp to get the Epcot monorail, then get off at Epcot and (you guessed it!) walk down the looooong ramp, then walk over to the Epcot entrance.

I wished WDW had a bus available from the MK resorts. The bus drops you closer to the entrance.

Like I said . . . I'm lazy!

We just returned from a 10 day visit with DS7, DD3 and DS 20 months...Thought monorail trip through Epcot from MK would be a relaxing trip...However, it tended to be uncomfortably warm and stuffy in the monorail the whole ride and the changeover from Epcot at TTC to return to MK was time-consuming...The return run via monorail to MK was not running due to some construction and we had to board the boat across the lagoon...VERY crowded and HOT, as this was the only route back to MK or MK resorts...Just a warning to you for planning ahead. Not certain how long construction was going to take, but there were walls put up in the Resort loop monorail station near MK..It appeared as though the monorail loop run was only going in one direction. From Contemporary to MK, we had to go all the way around past Poly, GF and THEN get off near MK...We could not go the opposite direction that would have put us at MK in one stop...Just a warning to you! :wave2:

Hi Mommryrom,

Just a heads-up...even when both monorails are running without construction, you will need to go all the way around clockwise to get from the CR to the MK. The express monorail, which runs the other direction, only stops at the TTC and the MK. It goes through the CR but does not stop there.

Alternatively, you can walk from the CR to the MK. It's faster than taking the monorail all the way around.
