It's been years since Ive done this so I am not sure how it works.

I plan on driving to the Contemporary Resort and taking the monorail to the other resorts just to check them out. I am staying at the Port Orleans but I wont have a park ticket for this day. Will I be able to board the monorail w/o a park ticket?

You don't need a park ticket to ride the monorail....

Visit the contemporary, polynesian and the grand floridian....

From the Contemporary.....you can take a boat to Wilderness Lodge and
Fort Wilderness Campground...
Happy Exploring

You will be able to board the monorail without a park ticket, but you may not be able to park at the Contemporary for a significant period of time (3 hours at the most). Lots of people try to use the Contemp lot as parking for the MK and they are pretty strict about prking there if you are not actually going to the Contemp for some purpose. Why not just take the resort bus to the MK and then take your monorail resort tour from there?

Nope, no ticket required. Be sure to ride in the front, you get your own monorail driver's license.

And if you see a really tall monorail driver from Wisconsin, that's my brother!

When my family and I have visited other Resorts like the Boardwalk to just look around we were waived right threw and I think it's because they saw our Contemporary parking pass, so since you're staying at Port Orleans Riverside you should be ok. However there is always a chance they might not let you park because they could have 1 or 2 major conventions going on, so the Resort goes into lock down mode and only let's guests staying there and guests with ADR's threw and the other cars get turned away. This happened last August when my family and I were staying at the Contemporary, so just thought I let you know.

Don't forget you could also visit the Magic Kingdom Monorail Resorts the day you and you're family visit the Magic Kingdom. When you leave just get on the Resort Monorail and spend as much time as you want. So when you're ready to head back to POR take the Monorail back to the Magic Kingdom and get on the POR bus.

You might want to consider a bus ride or driving your car to Epcot...then riding the monorail to the resort loop at the MK!! This would not only eliminate the parking problem, it would allow for a nice long ride on the monorail! Then hop back on the Epcot rail to your car or bys when you are done. Just a suggestion!

Make sure you check out the POLY! We LOVE IT!! You can watch WISHES from the beach at night!! Gorgeous!!

You could also just park at the TTC and catch the monorail there to whatever MK monorail resort you wish to visit.

Unless you are staying at or have ADR's at a CR restaurant, you will not be able to park in their lot. We have tried it a couple times when we were staying onsite. The last time, the bellhop at BWV insisted we would have no problem. Guess what? We were turned away. So either bus it to MK and catch the monorail there or drive to the TTC and catch the monorail there. I love doing the loop to the 3 monorail resorts, especially at Holiday time to look at the decorations.
