Monorail - "FastPass" for Resort Guests

I think I heard somewhere that guests of the resort hotels at Disneyland had an "automatic fast pass" for the monorail. Does anyone know how this works? Do you get something at check-in? Is there a special line that you wait in for it? And, can you use it in both directions? Thanks!

At check in you get your Resort Charging Card, on the card it says "Use this card for Priority boarding on the monorail." We only used it from the Magic Kingdom to Downtown Disney, and the way it worked, was just like fastpass. There was a separate entrance, and you bypassed any line waiting below the station.
