ctrabada - re: the sangria - I think that either a grape juice or cranberry juice bottle will be the best disguise. Whenever I make sangria it always has a more reddish hue rather than a brownish (soda) hue.

Hello Luv and Schulz!!!!

Just wanted to add that when I say I brought a cooler to the pool, we were at a quiet pool (no CMs around) and our cooler is very discreet...remember...I purposely bought the silver (clear) Capt Morgan so I could put it in a water bottle. Dh did drink cans of beer, though. We knew to not bring glass to the pool.

Also, the one time we were at the AKL pool, last Nov, (I think I may be repeating this story) my DH was drinking $5 drafts from the pool bar and a CM actually approached him and told him he could get a 6 pack at the gift shop for $10. So we did, put them in a plastic bag with ice...and saved some $$$$!

We have a soft-sided cooler that kinda looks like a diaper bag. Hmmmmm, buy the first one at the pool bar and then use the cup....a plan comes together.

Thanks for the welcome, I am toying with the idea of staying at WL again this coming Sept. just to get better pictures with the hat(It is funny how a picture can come out when you are taking it in the mirror after a full bout with Lodge Fizzes and Bass Ales). Of course that would be one of the many positive reasons to stay there again.


Can anyone tell me if they still make the Lodge Fizz there? When I was at Whispering Canyon in Oct. the server looked at me like I had five heads when I tried to order one. After the horror earlier in the day of not being able to get a Ringnes I could not believe the mighty fizz was gone as well. At least I still had the BellVue.

exevale-Don't feel bad...i ordered a dirty martini at Le Cellier in the Canada Pavillion and the CM looked at me like I had two heads! LOL...I also asked her is there was such a thing as a Canadian vodka, as I would order that in my martini and she said, "um, yeah...we have Ketel One!"

Luv-Oh, yeah...the pitcher...she was arrested for beating the heck out of him, remember? Anyway, I promise IRL I look nothing like Tawny. I have been told, on a good day, Belinda Carlisle (Go Gos) and Mariel Hemingway. On a bad day? Hilary Clinton. Hmmmmm....

WLL...interesting who people think you look like, isn't it? Do you agree with any of them? I have been told I look like Vanna White (when my hair is long), Princess Diana (when my hair is short), and DH swears I am a thin version of the lead singer of the Dixie Chicks. I personally don't see a resemblence to ANY of them!

Oh, luv...I didn't take it as an insult...in Tawny's heyday she was quite a looker! I just know now that she is a whack job! LOL!

Megmeg-the CM in Norway (in November )also did not know what a dirty martini was! LOL...I guess they are not popular overseas...or across the border to the great white north. At least a DM is easy to explain, ya know?

WLL - lol! So I have my own dirty martini story for you. Went out to dinner tonight and ordered my usual dirty, only instead of a dirty I just got a regular martini. Yeah, they forgot the whole olive juice part of the martini. Hehe! It was still tasty, but I really would have preferred a dirty martini.

Ha! yeah, that is why sometimes I order my dirty martini "filthy" LOL! My Dh cringes when I ask the waiter for a "filthy martini!" hahaha!

The thing is...that has backfired on me, too. A few times I got a martini that looked more like a margarita! And it tasted like a chilled glass of SWEAT! ICK!

I am really surprised that a bartender would not know what a Dirty Martini is - it is not exactly an obscure drink!

The Lodge Fizz is an entirely delicious specialty drink that they make/made (still not entirely sure) at the WL. They are made with Vodka, Tirpple-sec, Cranberry juice and Sprite. Discounting the incredible single malt scotch selection at the Belle Vue Room in the BWI it is my favorite resort drink.

My DH had a delightful drink at the WL called a "lumberjack." he was kind of embarassed to hold it while hanging around the pool as it is bright green and he felt it was a little fruity tooty for a guy to be holding...but he said it was quite tasty!

Aidensmom....well, both times it was the server who did not know what a DM was...and both times they were really young gals that probably just got here from their homelands. I told them both, "Just tell the bartender to make a DM...he'll know what it is!"

WLL - filthy martini....I love it! I usually don't have a problem getting them made correctly, though one time I did get the -would you like some vodka with your olive juice- version and yeppers, it tasted like sweat! There is a fine balance between too much dirty and not enough. Hehe! I'll have to tell my DH about the lumberjack! He loves all sorts of frufru drinks and has no qualms about drinking them. Hehe!

Yippee! 8 days 'till we go back!
