Monorail Drink-A-Thon

I love the Sci-Fi and its a must every trip. I have to agree about the conversation part, its kinda hard especially if you are in a group of more than 2. The drinks are great- and I really enjoyed the spinich artichoke dip! I think I've always stuck to the burgers there and they have always been great. From what I hear though, the more fancy meals on the menu - aren't that great. But like I said, I've always enjoyed it.

pixiedust23,

What great pictures! 8 countries in 2 hours?!?! You are a lush! BTW, which one is you? I'm not surprised that your friend dropped out ... she looked a little tippy in Norway :).

I think I have found kindred spirits...you have all given me some fabulous ideas for drinking themes in December!!!! I had no idea such treasures could be found in WDW...and my friends say it's only a kiddie place. HA!

All I can say is thank heavens for Disney transportation...

I've heard many stories about the craziness of the Disney busses on the way back from PI (usually the last bus of the night). I can't wait to experience that. If anyone has any stories, please share!!!!!

I love the Sci-Fi. We used to go every trip when I was younger. I haven't been to DW with my family since 96 but now we are going in April. Perhaps we'll go to the Sci-fi when there.

Just got a postcard in the mail. I'm trying to figure out if I can fit a little trip in this or next month. Those rates are so good!

I can not wait to try all the drinks everyone is describing.

WLL- Our family found that we got so much value for our pts that we went back and bought more, when the BCV opened (now we have at VWL and BCV). It's a great deal and it's nice to know that your hotel accomdations are already paid for when traveling down to disney.

We're also DVCers. We own at OKW and had to buy more points at BWV, both contracts on the resale market. Since you love the Wilderness Lodge, you may want to look into buying a resale there. I stayed in a studio in the Villas at Wilderness Lodge on my last visit. Here are some pictures from All Ears: http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/g_wlv.htm .

If you stay at least once a year in moderate or deluxe resorts, DVC may be worth it to you :).

I will echo the thought of many others, "I've found home, and a group of soulmates!" I love this thread!!

I am leaving in a week for the Food and Wine Festival (our first foray), and am excited. Since we are staying at Wilderness Lodge on this trip, I am excited to try the Monorail Crawl.

It is funny - I have a bunch of friends that think we are weird for going to Disney World so often. I guess they picture us on the teacups! If only they could see us, strolling in gorgeous weather with a cocktail! We have met so many fun people on our Around the World excursion. My husband has created lanyards for us now, that we get signed in each country. It is a great souvenir!

Remember, what happens in The World, stays in The World!!

Disneyaholic...haha...your name is so appropriate! Yes..."what happens in THE WORLD stays in THE WORLD!" I LOVE IT!

I know what you mean, about friends not understanding. I was telling some friends that DH and I are goinf to take a "just us" weekend in the spring and leave DD6 with my folks and the were incredulous. "What? Why don't you go somewhere else?" Like you, I guess they think we love the rides and the parks. But we want to hit Pleasure Island (can you believe I have never been in my entire life????) and really savor some lounges and restaurants there.

Have a BLAST at the F&W fest and please give us a full trip report on this thread! Check out ctrabada's report and see if you can top that one! LOL!

You can't imagine how many parts of this thread I had to cut and paste for my upcoming trip!!

I will post a report (at least the LOTW report) on our trip, but don't count on the quality of ctrabada's!! I am currently working on writing a Disney World guidebook (I figured, if I am going to go often, I may as well write it off!), so this review - my first time to Food & Wine - is really important. My book is going to focus on the unique parts of Disney. Every guidebook has much the same information, but when I go at Christmas, for example, I want to read more than a couple of paragraphs! So, I will focus on really writing about holidays and special events. I will have a full chapter on LOTW - I had previously planned to write about Beer Around the World Showcase - but after reading this thread, I plan to do my homework on this next trip, and expand the chapter to the entire World.

By the way, I've read that MGM is many people's least favorite park. Be sure to check out the 50's Prime Time Diner lounge. DH and I have experienced some of our best Disney Time ever in that lounge!!

I had to show this to my DH! This is what he says every time I ask him about his bachelor party - expect they were in Vegas! Good thing one of his friends dates one of my best friends, and he can't keep his mouth shut so I know all about it!

I think I'm going to make that my rule about drinking and shopping at WDW! Especially since DH isn't coming on the next trip.

I love this thread but I haven't had time to add the cute little drinking man to my siggie.

Disneyaholic - how cool! I want an autographed copy when it comes out!:D

We head down Thursday for the Drinking around the World, and I am resting up!! :drinking1
Anyone have a favorite "beverage" from the Food and Wine Festival??

robinb- I'm the blonde one, I think i'm wearing a pink tank top in Epcot. Dont you just love DVC? I'm extremely excited for the new pool to open at OKW! I saw some darwings of it and it looks just amazing!!

Disney transportation is extremely great. You always have a DD!!

THe last buses out of PI are INSANE! I've been on them a few times and the people are just crazy! One time as we were leaving we met some guys from Ireland who were so excited they jumped in the fountain on the way to the buses. Well as you can imagine this then started a new fad and everyone was jumping in the fountains. I imagine it made for an incredibly cold ride home.

I realize that this is "treason" but i was wondering if anyone had been to citywalk and if they could give me a comparison to PI?

Pixie, it's not treason... how do we confirm WDW is the best in the world if we do not try others? I was a Universal & Sea World passholder and when I started my business this year, guess which passes were not renewed and which were??? yep, WDW (the most expensive one) was renewed for the 3 of us.... the other 2 were allowed to expire without renewal (except Sea World for my DD7... my parents live 5 minutes from the park so I bought them and Cristy annual passes and now they go together while DH & I enjoy quality time at the Disney parks!).

Anyway, I've visited CityWalk a few times and can give you my opinion. CityWalk is a fun place, however, I feel is too spread out... I happen to like the layout at PI because it feels smaller and more intimate. You have to pay a cover to go into each club or you can buy a pass that lets you enter all of them. I can't give you opinions on all of them because, frankly, I've only visited the Latin Quarter. Usually, we go to PI for dancing, but when we're in the mood for latin music, CityWalk is the only place we can go (but I heard they closed it..darn). Unfortunately, PI doesn't have a latin club... and no, Bongo's doesn't count...

The one thing I hate about CityWalk is the parking. Let me tell ya, at 2:00 am in the morning, after dancing all night, the LAST thing you want is to schlep back to your car at Universal.... Even with the moving sidewalks, it's a killer... I prefer the madness of finding parking at DTD than parking at Universal...

If you want a change of pace from PI, give CityWalk a try.

Yes I went there once for dinner and I vividly remember the awful walk back to parking. But I was looking for a club comparison. As a 22 year old. I've only found a few of the clubs and PI enjoyable and was thinking it might be a different situation at Citywalk.

Only 31 more days until we get to try the Drink-A-Thon!!
I can't wait!!:drinking1 :drinking1
Monorail, here we come!!

I was just in another section of the boards and a woman was saying how disruptive drunk adults in the hot tubs after hours are. All I could think of was my lovely LOTW :drinking1 and how I was extremely glad I had found my people before fearing for my life and retreating from the dis boards forever! :scared:
BTW Lynn I am extremely jealous of you!!!

disruptive drunk adults in the hot tubs after hours are

I may be drunk in those hot tubs, but I'll be darned if I am disruptive!

I agree WLL. Is our very own LOTW member Cantw8 doing us proud @ the world now? I have to wait until late June to go back. My friend is leaving tomorrow. I'm so jealous.
