Monorail Crash Kills Operator

I'm quite sure their families are NOT accompanying the investigators! If they did, I'm sure "the bad" would come out in a LOT of people...myself included.

I also doubt that NTSB would be provided anything for free as it would be a conflict of interest, wouldn't it?

I don't think NTSB would have time to frolick in the parks.

OMG YES!!!

It would be the biggest conflict of interest since the last meeting of Congress!

I'm sure they wouldn't. They initially said they were only going to monitor the investigation because they had all their rail investigators tied up with the DC investigation.

Other than that, it doesn't fall within scope b/c as stated, it is equivilant to the tea cups or Rock N Roller Coaster as a form of transportation b/c of its location on private property.

I think it differs from a typical attraction, because in most of those cases you are not actually transported anywhere. The monorail is very different - it serves the function to transport guests from one area of WDW to another, so it is a transportation system, and Disney even advertises it as such. The unique part is that it is on private property...but that property is pretty unique in itself.

Also, about learning things, the Las Vegas monorail is also using Mark VI trainsets, although somewhat modified. But if there was an inherent design issue, they could learn from that.

how awfully sad and sickening that this young man saw it coming...but if his actions really did prevent the injury to the other passengers, how heroic!

i think it is sad that there were/are so many speculations about this young driver (he fell asleep, etc.) :sad1:

whatever happened or will happen because of this, he deserves to be remembered in a wonderful light, and disney deserves our support!! 30+ years with no injuries/accidents is not a coincidence at WDW...
