Monorail crash at Epcot last night, 1 driver killed!

Put a little warning on my post to read thru these posts before deciding on watching it. I considered removing it if its going to offend but anyone can watch it with a quick Google or following earlier links.

Sorry Wayne, I meant to put in my post that I didn't think you were wrong to post the link, as i said I did watch it and if I had found it on one of the news sites and watched - I just didn't think through what my response would be to watching. I don't think anyone is wrong to watch it if they want, I just wished I hadn't.

You do a great job moderating on the forums and gathering info that is helpful and informative - I DEFINITELY wasn't criticising!

no it's still there.....
i went to read the article about the driver - that he was 21 years old...
and they had the links to the pictures and video there and they work..

from the same article - it explains the automatic safety mechanism for stopping a monorail that get too close to the one in front of it...
so i wonder what happened here....sounds like a technical problem..

here's what it says in the article:

According to a former Walt Disney World monorail driver, the vehicles were outfitted with a safety system called Mapo. The former driver, who said he drove the current Mark VI monorail trains, said as soon as the monorail train gets within two checkpoints of another train, it automatically stops.

The former driver said he believes there are about 150 to 200 feet between checkpoints. He said drivers whose monorail train had to be shut down three times were removed permanently from their position.

Such sad news, my thoughts are with the families involved. :(

We went to TTC this afternoon. Paid my respects to the CM's on duty.
They were guiding guests to the ferry boats .
