Kinda weird...the control panel says the max speed is 15mph. Is that the speed the Express train runs between the TTC and the MK? Hrmmm....

Note that part of the screen also has 'zone speed' highlighted and 'actual' as 0. I bet in that zone the max is 15 and they are sitting still. Obviously they can go much faster (from the bar graphs)

Ahh, so that thing probably governs the max speed dynamically as it travels around to different sections of the beam.

They do have specific speed limits depending on which section of track they are on. The highest speed limit is about 1/2 way between TTC & EC, which I believe is 40mph. I remember during one of my early trips to WDW ( well before becoming a CM, ect ) - the Pilot said he "broke the book" for the day by pushing the monorail to 42mph.... the record of the day.

Ahh, I guessed that was the case...thanks for the info..."broke the book" with a whole 42 mph, ehh? That's pretty cool...only 42 mph and it's still a hugely efficient transportation system. With all the people dying on the roads these days because of speed, that's something to think about.

You also have to remember that the Monorail is a straight shot - which is what makes it so efficient. I can get from MK to EC faster than the monorail - but thanks to exits, tolls, and the parking lot - it takes a couple more minutes by car.

( I've tested this...BTW. It went something like this "OK, I'm on the monorail - GO!"
