monorail and ferry hours?

Ok, not staying at a Disney hotel, but staying in Orlando. We drive to the Magic Kingdom parking lot and then take a ferry or monorail? What time do those start running? I think the park opens at 9 the day we're going. Which is fastest?

The Resort Monorail, which also serves MK, starts at 7am. Not sure about the Express Monorail & Ferryboat; I think they vary based on the expected crowd size.
