Monopolizing the Top Ten List

Okay, so today, 2 things basically happened on Jungle Cruise with me. I hit the best score ever since they've changed it (58k+), and I need major credits after spending about 50,000 yesterday on ride pieces.

Between earning credits and trying to replicate that 58k+ score, I ended up with 8 of the 10 spots (and 10 of the 20 spots overall).

I started talking with some of my friends about this and was telling them, I sort of feel bad because it doesn't give others a chance to get onto the list. But I can't play fireworks on my computer at home because it's too slow for it. Same goes for Mansion. And I'm not in the mood to get into arguments with Pirate players.

Now most of my friends think it's fine. They believe if I'm that good, then by all means I shouldn't worry. But that could just be because they are my friends and deep down they hate my guts. Lol! I'm just wondering what the rest of you think...is it unfair for a good player to monopolize the top ten list?

I say way to go. If you are that good and can get that many on the high score list then go for it. If someone does have a problem with it, they need to play and knock your scores off the list. So in the end GREAT JOB!! and keep it up.

Erin? If you can dominate the high scores list, then more power to you! I, for one, have not played jungle cruise since it was required for the last host quest! LOL I was pretty good at it, though. ;) Might have to play again to knock you off that list! Haha! Congrats, girl!

So your secret is a slow computer :teeth:

I really started to play the game, a few days ago so I dont really know what the high score was looking alike before but if you are good, you are good and that is all .. I just wish I was good too bc I dont consider 55K like a good score knowing I always miss my second round ..

What I dont like is the way credits are given out but that is not your fault ..

I personally think it is fine, as long as you don't do this every day. I personally have no possible way to get anywhere near this, all I can get is 40,000. Before the change I could only even get 48,000. LOL!

There is a "CL" that does do it every single day - 65k+ score. 99% of us couldnt possibly cope to acheive that. I hope the much needed retool comes soon.

Hmm, I never thought of playing Jungle Cruise the "right" way to earn credits. What kind of credits are you earning if you make it to the top ten list?

Pirates and ghosts are nearly impossible to me right now with the freezing I'm experiencing with those games. And I'm okay with fireworks until they add more than 5 different types of fireworks to choose from :rotfl2: then I'm all confuzzled...

Which leaves me to crashing walls over and over all day which is BORING. So looking for a new way to earn some credits here.

:wave2:

And no, I don't think what you're doing is wrong. If you're good, you're good. Why stop playing because of it. :confused3

Congrats Erin, If I could consistently make the top ten I would too. (Pink) If I remember correctly you get 750 credits for a top ten. It takes about the same amount of time as fireworks but is less offensive to most computers. And with the recent game overlays my system is not liking them too much. :badpc:

I think it's fine if you dominate the top scores. It helps the rest of us get our competitive edge and we try to do better :cool1: , even if we don't succeed, lol.

Do you get the 750 points every time you make top ten, even if you are already on the top ten list? If so, then more power to you. Kepp up the good work. If you do not, then it's an inefficient use of your credit earning time, and you are taking opportunity away from other players, so it is a bad idea. Having never made the top ten list any later than about 30 minutes after the day begins, I don't know how the scoring works if you crack the list twice.

We have talked aobut this before Erin, when I asked you why you feel the need to play so early in the morning, making it much harder for the rest of us normal players to get a chance at the top tent score... esp since it is so obvious that you can get a top ten score anytime you want too.... adn your reply to me was that was the only time you can play it...

So do what you want to do.... but it does seem to me that you could indeed play it later in the day....

Though I have always thought it was nice that you usually only get one or two top ten scores (and I tried to do so as well before the change), you are free to do what you wish.

If you have problems playing those other games, then I don't really think you have much choice. If people have issues with you "dominating" the top ten list, then they should practice so they can challenge you.

If you notice, the top ten list on fireworks is usually dominated by one particular (very good) player. I always feel uber good about getting on the list when he has so many scores up there. You can even dominate the top twenty if you wanted to - it makes getting on the list more of a challenge and more satisfactory when the rest of us do (though I can't really do that at the present time).

In the older version of the game, once scores were at 63k+, I could not play at home because that was about the best I could do on that computer. With this newer style of play, at the present, I can get 54k-55k at home. To get the 56k+ I need to use my computer at work. So until others improve, yes, I can get on the top ten at anytime now.

Another thing I've realized is that the last hour rolls over to the next day. i.e. Today I only played once, yet 2 of my scores from last night are still there. And since the last hour is when I usually play, if I play at home...I'm still in a pickle. -_-'

I think what you did was fine yesterday. As long as you're not doing it all the time. :)

I can no longer reach the kinds of scores you get since they did the change a couple months ago. And with the new change, I'm still too bad at it to get more than 52-53,000. The only time I have to play is at night after work. I have to sneak as it is now just to read and reply here during the day.

For some reason, my computer likes fireworks more than JC now. :confused3
It confuses me when most people seem to have the opposite. :confused3

But in regards to your current monopolizing, I need credits too badly after last month to have to keep "practising" at JC, so I'm playing fireworks. ;)
Twenty credits for 10 minutes just isn't worth the time when I currently have no time to waste.

If you can do it then I say do it. Everyone has their own way to make credits, which lately we have really needed. There is nothing wrong with playing a game and getting a good score, that's what games are for. A QB on the number one team wouldn't intentionally lose the game because they have won 6 games in a row, they would play the game to the best of their ability. I think you should be congratulated on playing well, and not worry about what others may or may not say. Keep it up!:thumbsup2

Just be so kind as to play later in the day so the rest of us can get a top 10 score early in the morning.

I think you should play as much as you want, whenever you want. It's a game. If you happen to be the best at it, more power to you. I am just grateful to have had one of the other spots!

I saw that someone made a reference to "another CL" who consistently dominated the list. I hope that wasn't in reference to me. While I have taken over the whole list a few times in the past, I usually only play a few times a day, maybe twice. I don't know why I am defending myself either.

Well, if you are that good then you have every right to play as much as you want. However, personally I wish you would just play a bit later in the day. :teeth: You will have no trouble making top ten any time of the day. :thumbsup2

Well, I have to be a dissenting voice here.

For one thing, there is a difference between monopolizing the Jungle Cruise Top Ten, as compared to the other games. For example, I don't need to get a Top Ten score in Fireworks to earn a lot of credits. I can make Level 5 and score over 200,000 to get 675 credits. Credits in Pirates and Haunted Mansion are dependent on how good you do on each individual game. Once again, you don't need to be a Top Ten player to earn a lot.

But with Jungle Cruise, anything less than a Top Ten score only pays you 20 credits. So by filling up the Top Ten, you are effectively limiting others' chances for a decent payoff. Some of us would like to be able to spend 50,000 credits to build rides, too, ya know?

Another problem is the carry-over of your games from the previous night. I logged on immediately at opening this morning - only to see you had the Top 2 slots already. (Yeah, I still made my Top Ten score, but I knew I only had a chance at slots 3-10.) As of right now, you have since taken 2 more slots.

Your friends (and others here) may not say it, but I have heard several people in the game commenting on you. Yeah, you're good and everyone knows that. But is monopolizing the Jungle Cruise Top Ten really reflective of the "Community Leader" you are supposed to be?
