Hey all,

I know this has been asked before but... would you take cash, travellers cheques or how would you do it? I know that you can use your credit card for the ship but what about ports? Also, if you take travellers cheques, where can you cash them?

Thanks!:confused3

I always take cash. That said, I don't carry it - big bad DH does! The likelihood of someone choosing to take something from his him is small, so no worries!

I like to have cash on hand for things like tips for luggage porters, sodas and snacks at the airport, tips for excursion guides and small purchases on the islands. I never carry all of my cash with me, and what I do carry is never all together (same thing you should do anywhere). Travelers Checques can be exchanged by some vendors, and some small vendors won't take them. It's up to you how you divide your money.

Enjoy your trip!

We had some cash and a credit card designated for the ports. Small bills for trinkets/postcards/stamps/taxis/tips etc. Credit cards for the shops..makes it very easy to purchase and keep track.

You may want cash/small bills for the ship also. We tipped our cabin steward and servers in cash at the end of the cruise, we also needed the cash for room service tippping and stamps at the post office on castaway cay.

You can cash traveler's cheques at guest services. You will want a small amount of cash for ports, but I don't like to carry much...so we get like $250 worth of trav. cheques in $50 increments and cash them as needed at Guest Services. All else goes on the plastic (gotta build those Disney Reward Dollars....)
