Money you don't know you are owed by the government

I can't remember the site I went to, but around a year or so ago I went to a site to see if my parents were owed any money by the state or federal government or whoever. (If you know the site, please post it!) Anyhow my parents have a fairly unique last name and it said my dad was owed money but it didn't state how much. He filled out some paperwork and got a check today for $380. I know it isn't a ton of money but it is a nice little surprise!

We did the same thing at www.unclaimed.org

I had money coming, my DH did, several of our relatives also had money coming. Everything from old paychecks that were never claimed, mortgage insurance refunds, unclaimed tax refunds, old life insurance benefits, etc. are some of the things that anyone could have coming.

I found a link for the North Carolina Treasurer. I searched everyone's name that I could think of. I found money for my brother and a neighbor. I even found my own DH's name and $300 that we had NO idea that he had. We are putting it toward our cruise. I am still waiting for it to come in the mail!

Thanks for the link. I found a refund for a deposit I left on a utility account years ago. I had no idea it was out there.

About 2 years ago I found over $1,000 combined for an uncle and cousin. Unfortunately nothing for myself or DH.
