we have the dining plan. how much spending money do we need. my dh is thinking way less than i am, but i want to go and have a good time, but not just blow money. on average, how much does everyone spend on souvineers, snacks, and extras.

We're on the dining plan too. We figured an extra $50/day for the TS restaurants (appetizer, alcohol, tip). We're planning on $150 each for shopping.

we're bringing an extra $300 for 6ppl for food outside the dining plan. And then spending money is pretty individual. Do you like to shop? Do you collect anything specific? 2 t-shirts are going to run you around $50. Sweatshirts about $50 each. (high end on prices) Things are pricey there.

DD usually spends $50.00-100.00 (her money) and we usually spend around $50.00 on souvineers. DD and I will usually split a CS for one of the meals a few times during the week, so our out of pocket food expense is quite low. We usually have snacks left over as well.

We are using the regular dining plan. We are a family of three Disney adults. DS is 13. I am planning $200 for tips alone. beyond that spending money is subject to your habits. I am a shopper. Last June we spent around $1000 on souvies. Then in September we spent less than $50. To figure out how much tip money you need try looking at the menus here: http://allears.net/menu/menus.htm. Get an approximate of your bill total then figure in tips off of that. We are going for 8 days and will have 10 table service meals total. for souvenir money set a budget per person then pad it just a little. Remember, your kids don't need every little trinket they come across but you don't want to spend all vacation saying no too. Buy some stuff in advance. Glow bracelets can be found at the dollar store. They have other disney stuff too. The dollar spot at Target has lots of disney stuff too. You can find light spinners at Walgreens usually. They had a decent selection of Disney ones the last time I was there. If you buy them at home and hide them in your bag you pull them out when the I wants hit and it won't cost you a fortune.

How old are your kids? When we went in June we had DS who was 12 and Nephew who was 9. We gave them $10 each day. They could spend it that day or save it and have more to spend on another day. If your kids are old enough you could do that with them. I find I spend less when DS has his own money and I am not buying them for him. I am REALLY bad and not using the no word. :rotfl:

As pps said it is totally based on spending habits. Last time we brought 1300.00. We bought alcohol in a few resturants and a bottle of wine and a 6 pack of beer. This left us with about 1000.00...we are not huge drinkers but the alcohol is expensive. Everyone got t-shirts and sweatshirts and a few ride photos with frames. and I got a couple of nightgowns and a Christmas ornaments then some little odds and ends. We didn't hold back but we didn't splurge either. Money can go real fast there.

we went last year and had the dining plan. We also had a grocery delivery of water and breakfast foods and some beer. We spent about $300 total once at the parks. We had a few drinks at the restaurants, tips and a few souvies. DD was so busy w/ everything around her she didn't ask for much!

I am trying to budget this as well...we are on the DDP too but I am a VERY light eater and am figuring that between DH and DD I will not need to always use my CS when they do and will share with them leaving us extra CS credits for breakfast or what not....I do not drink and neither does DH so that is an eliminated expense. Tipping money probably $100, souvies $400 max(I say this now lol) and....I think we are covered, no? All i know is that we have $1200 set aside for this part and I dont see us spending any where near that as I am cheap to put it bluntly ;) We also hit the disney store last week and plan to go to the ones down there upon arrival to try and save money.

my kids are 5 and 2. we are going for my 5 year olds birthday celebration. i was thinking that we needed 1000 for 7 days but dh thinks we only need 500. we won't be drinking, so we wont buy alcohol. and i am like you, i don't want to constantly say no

sharing meals is an excellent idea! that will actually help out because we are having to buy a meal because we are going to the aloha luau and it takes 2 points.
