Money on the Table - Pay for Podcast App for Charity?

How much would you pay for the DIS Podcast App for charity?

  • I can handle a one-time $0.99 charge for the app.

  • A $0.99 annual charge is fine with me for the app.

  • I would pay a $1.99 one-time fee for the app.

  • I would pay $1.99 annually for the app.

  • I'd go up to $5 for the app one time.

  • I'd pay up to $5 for the app each year.

  • The app is worth over $5 charge once for charity.

  • No fee, please. I prefer the app to remain free.

Hello everyone.

When the WDW DIS team announced a new app for the DIS Unplugged Podcasts, I thought to myself that I would be willing to pay for that, especially the going app fee of $0.99 or $1.99. Then I thought that if they were going to make it free, the proceeds could go to charity.

So, I am posting this pole to see what other DISers thought. Would you be willing to pay a nominal one-time fee for the DIS Unplugged app? How about an annual nominal fee?

For me, I find giving to charity is much easier if the process fits in with my daily life. For instance, The Salvation Army kettles are excellent, as I just dump my pockets when I go past one. The little envelopes in the mail asking for a donation to feed the hungry is also easy. The internet has made giving larger amounts much easier, so I thought a small fee (for me, up to $5) for an app would be easy, since I spend money for apps anyway.

What do you think? Thanks for your input!!

I'd prefer to keep my charitable giving separate from my software purchases.

If they were willing to donate money to Give Kids the World I'd be all for it!

I would be up for it
I will still give to GKTW and this would just be a bonus

There are many events taking place to help GKTW right now which have the potential to bring in quite a bit of money. My thinking is that donating to them or GKTW - Power of 10 Campaign directly is more beneficial than a few dollars spent on an app.

Besides, I'm not really comfortable with the idea of putting the app creators in an awkward position. A lot of time and effort goes into producing things like this plus the technology required to keep it running. If fees are necessary, then I fully stand behind them and know that they're needed. I don't want to pigeon-hole the creator into doing something that might not be feasible. Again, participating in a GKTW event or donating directly would have a much greater impact.

No. I usually don't pay for apps. And I want my donations to be separate so I have a record for tax purposes.

Apple gets 30% of app and in app purchases... Google gets a similar percentage... I don't want to give them another dime!

This would be my biggest hang up -other than that, I wouldn't have a problem with it. Keeping a $1.99 donation separate for tax purposes isn't a very big deal to me. And I don't really see the difference between giving this way or giving through one of the events directly.

I would pay it. I wouldn't bother keeping track of a $2 charity donation for tax purposes. Mainly because I am not that organized! :rotfl: I always give to the same charities as it is so that doesn't change, but I would pay for the app, especially if it went to GKTW. I have paid more for other apps that have nothing to do with any charity. :goodvibes
