Whenever we cruise the Disney (we'll be heading to the Magic this morning) we always check the cash box when filling out our documents.

In the past they have given us a $200.00 cash credit (I expect it will be the same today) and that is our limit. Keeps us on the straight and narrow without worry about sticker shock at the end of the cruise.

You could, of course, pay whatever cash you want in advance to determine your own limit and then stick to that.

Have a wonderful time and do what works best for you. :happy2:

If you go to guest services, you could ask for a copy of your room folio at almost anytime. They were happy to print me out a copy when I asked. Then you can see how much you've spent, and whether you need to cut back or still have room to buy.

I read in a criusing magazine that a new NCL (or was it RCCL) ship has an interactive TV that allows you to check your folio. Too bad Disney doesn't have that!

onve you exced the $200 limit you cant go anymore till you pay if off.you and also leave extra money once you board. we did it on our first cruise and will continue to do just that. it is great and helps keep the cost low. if you have any excursions booked or spa treatments booked those costs are on the books so add up all of these things before you board and pay some or all before the big party

It is RCCL that has the in room interactive TV that you can access your folio. We were on the Serenade of the Seas last September and it was great to be able to see where our account was at any given time. Hopefully this catches on and other cruise lines will follow suit. Then again maybe some people would just rather party until the end of the cruise and then worry about the bill. Kinda like ignorance is bliss...

Yes, please explain about the "cash box"???

I don't know about the cash box but I can say that I overspent like a trooper on our cruise. Most of it was pure stupidity on my part.....don't laugh but I actually had to buy two pieces of luggage on the ship....total = $200, to store our souveniers :earseek: :earseek:

I did get the soda pkg but that was a waste for us since we had all of about 6 sodas on the whole cruise. There were tons of juice and water available and that is what we opted for just by choice.

Instead of getting the girls a separate smoothie each at dinner I should have gotten one smoothie with two glasses since neither one finished hers.

I did bingo each day and quite honestly would have had just as good of a time just sitting there watching everyone else play....especially since I didn't win even once!!! The girl doing bingo, Amy, was a real hoot!!!

I would have not done the Atlantis excursion and just enjoyed the ship too which would have saved me money.

I would have also bought the internet pkg right away instead of figuring the cost out too late. I traveled without my fiance so we chatted and emailed a lot when the kids were in the club. Those minutes add up VERY fast!!!!!!!!

I plan to have around $650 for the cruise (4 day...not counting money I set aside for the spa).......5 adults....think that will be sufficient (FYI...this is not counting tip money for the cruise crew..I have already set that aside)...

By "The cash box" people mean that they will be paying cash rather than using a credit card on the account. That means that you pay whatever amount of cash you wish at the port. When you have spent that, your KTTW card won't allow you to spend more until you go to guest services and put more cash on your account.

You can spend a TON or a very little and still have a great cruise. It's really a matter of personal style. There are lots of ways to save $. For instance...sodas are free in the dining rooms. Do the kids really need more than that? Or are you willing to bring along a 12 pack of cans for the "other times?" Photos--$10 a piece (basically) in the photo shop. The DCL people will take a shot with your camera for you, and you can shoot your own. Excursions--usually cheaper if you book them on your own rather than thru DCL......
