If nobody minds me asking, how much does your holiday usually cost you? Not food, souvenirs etc., but the actual travel & hotel. Specifically for a family of 2 adults and 1 kid (though there are often the kids go free offers, of course). We spent about £1k for a 4 night/5 day break via Eurostar at Hotel Cheyenne and if it weren't so prohibitively expensive I'd be there every few months :( I've never stayed offsite (didn't fancy it) and I definitely don't want to stay at Davy Crockett resort. Is there no way of doing it for under this sort of money?! Are there certain times of the year when I could do it much cheaper?

we are going via coach holiday

staying in cheyenne hotel for 3 nights , total cost £197.10 per adult

January is very cheap... We've got 4 nights and 5 days for 3 adults and 1 child in the DLH for about £1000, although there's still Eurostar to add on which is a few hundred more. If we'd opted for the Davy Crockett Ranch, then it would have cost about £500 plus travel. DCR is comparable to somewhere between the Cheyenne and the Sequoia Lodge in price if I remember rightly.

January is so cheap because it's the cheapest price bracket, with 1 night free and children under 12 go free (rather than the usual 7).

In addition, if you are a regular visitor then you can bring your price down quite a lot by purchasing annual passes, then requesting a room only rate from Disney Direct or Expedia.

Our recent trip in September for 2 adults, 3 kids for 6 days cost us just over £1000 staying at Davy Crocket Ranch, best part of that is we could take alot of our own food with us saving money in the long run. That included the tunnel as well.

Our next trip in December this year for the same amount of people, same place etc for 3 nights is £600.

Next time we go we will be getting AP as this will reduce the cost alot plus the savings on food etc would be a bonus.

We just did 4ngts/5days at Cheyenne. Hotel inc tickets cost around £500 I think although both kids were free. Speed Ferries was around £50 return. You have to factor in euros for petrol and tolls on top of that.

If you're able to drive you can make quite a saving depending on where you live.

We're going 11th Jan for 5 nights / 6 days, 4 adults, 2 10yr olds and a baby staying in SL montana rooms and eurostar form Ashford, and it's cost me £1860 - £200 of that is for Buffalo Bill tickets for us all so total cost of accomodation and eurostar is £1660. I booked direct with disney by phone. If it had been just me and OH taking the GK's then it would of been about £800-900 for the same package (without BB tickets). We picked these dates as we could use the 'under 12's stay, play and travel' free and also the extra night free.

We were originally going around the 9th December for 3 nights/4 days, I'd priced this up with an independant travel 'agent' that specialises in just DLRP and then compared his prices with disney direct - this would have cost us between £1300 - £1500 without BB tickets. So when the Jan prices and offers came out it made sense for us to spend around £200 extra for the 2 extra nights.

I'm hoping it will be quieter in Jan than in Dec which means the kids get to see/do more as they have never been before. I went in Mar 06 for my 40th and stayed 4nights/5days, just us and another couple with a 2yr old, although we did loads of rides and shows etc, I came home thinking 'oh I never saw that, I didn't go on that' etc so this time I opted for the extra night to make sure we have loads of time:cool1:

Our trip in Dec is around the £900 mark, staying at HNY for 3 nights with one night free offer and Eurostar tickets. Trains wld've been cheaper as DS is under 4 but we bought a ticket for him as he def needs his own seat. There's no way he wld sit on our laps for that long. Then we've also bought the HB+ vouchers, so that's another £150. Hopefully, our credit card bill will look a wee bit more friendly when we get it as we won't have huge food bills... only shopping ;) .

Hi :)

We went last May (term time) 2 adults, 4 yr old, 2 yr old and a 9 month baby, staying at Santa Fe inc half board vouchers and eurostar cost about £950, for 4 nights/5 days.

We are going this saturday for 7 nights, staying off site in a private apartment, just 5 mins away from Disney on the metro, this has cost just under £500 including the ferry for all of us (we do have petrol and tolls to put on top of that). We all have fantasy annual passes, so we get the benefit EMH :thumbsup2

Hi. Our trip in feb is costing about £700. This includes 3nts/4days staying at Santa Fe, park tickets, flights and half board plus vouchers.

We booked the accom with tickets through one company and booked our flights with another. All that is left to pay is our RS/BS Transport transfer.

Hi, we are going from 11th to 14th January, 2 adults, 3 children (9,4,1) staying at the DLH for £1140. This price includes: flights from B'ham, transfers, hotel, park entry, halfboard plus. We booked direct with Disney after shopping around. It depends where you are travelling from. We could never go on the chunnel or eurostar as we are in the Midlands and it would add to our travel considerably. If you live near an airport, it might be worth looking into flights with Disney, or separately with a budget airline. Our kids all stay, play and travel for free in January and we get an extra night free. A lot of people drive and save money that way, but I couldn't stand the stress!

Going on 8th Dec for 3 nights staying at Cheyenne:
£302 for hotel
£65 per person on train
Total for 3 nights for 2 adults = £432

We then renewed our annual passes so its now costing us £201 for the hotel for 3 nights so £331 in total

Thanks everybody! Guess another trip is a good way off then :) Joolz, waaaah, you'll be there on my birthday, no fair, you should let me go instead :rotfl:

I agree about not driving because of the stress - the Eurostar is just so convenient, isn't it?

driving is fab :) we have driven the past 3 times

no waiting around airports,no transfers to worry about

can pack up the car with food etc ,the children can sleep if they wish to

its a nice ,easy drive which we enjoy :)

we are going by eurostar for our trip in dec, which we are looking forward to too :)

we live in south wales, so there is a fair drive for us whether using eurostar or chunnel, but we stay over the night before ( cheap travelodge usually ;) ) so not too bad

each to their own, but i know i would find flying much more stressful!

Agree with you, we love driving there. We are in the midlands and find it stress free, esp with 3 under fives! I found the Eurostar stressful, found it hard to manage the 3 children plus suitcases, and 2 buggies :sad2: we left one pushchair on the train and my middle dd has never forgot! lol

oh no ! :(

mine are older 12 and 6
so no need for buggies etc, but i can imagine how stressful it would be with littlies!

well, in june we paid for cheyenne, 3 days and 3 nights was £414 and eurotunnel was free (courtesy of mr tesco) so it was just fuel and tolls.....

in december we paid £302 for 4 days and 3 nights, and again eurotunnel was free (mr tesco does have his uses!!).

we dont have ap so above prices inc park tickets for the mentioned days, but next time we might see if we can get a good discount with shareholders - but sometimes the offers are better.

both the above are for 2 adults, 1 5yr & 1 2yr

Sounds Fab, how long does the drive usually take you?

From Calais ? i think its about 2.5 - 3 hrs ,but we tend to stop on the way and have lunch etc :)

We were there last Wednesday for 3 nights, 2 adults, 1 x 16 year old which is an adult price and 1 x 2 year old and we travelled via Eurostar and it came in under £700 which was pretty good. I booked the disney package direct and eurostar separately but went via quidco so earned cashback on them both. When we were there in June we flew via Easyjet and we had 3 nights too and it came in less than 1K.

Seeing as it's your birthday, I'll squeeze you into the suitcase. The last time we went was 2005, so it's a once in a while trip for us.:rotfl:

I wouldn't mind if my DH could drive but it would be me driving all the way there and back!;) I don't like driving and I'm not a good driver so the plane is the way to go for me!
