For a class I have to write a budget for the entire semester. Not that hard, considering I don't really spend to much money...right? I've looked at my credit card statements for the past couple of months ...every little bit certainly adds up.

Granted, I never use my check card (for the reasons of building credit and tracking my spending) but it still surprises me the amount of money I spend every month.

It just boggles my mind my friend ask me frequently to go out and eat with him off campus (we work in housing and get free meals at the dining hall). I always ask where he gets the money. You also hear about people going out every weekend. That's a lot of money.

Sometimes, I wish financial planning was taught in public school. Maybe then, it won't be so scary to try and save money or know about different ways to invest.

I know. If there was such a thing, I would definetely take it. I wish I knew more about saving money. I could have definetely brought home more money from my CP if I hadn't eaten out or eaten in the tunnels so much.

My highschool had an assembly for the seniors our last semester. The speaker had something to do with Dave Ramsey, and our principal gave us copies of Financial Peace as our graduation present. I am a huge fan of Dave Ramsey now, and am soooo thankful I was able to stumble upon him at an early age. He does make a really good point about credit, if you learn to save you don't need to worry about good credit... you can buy anything with cash... even a house.

I went to Dave's website. He says there's no such thing as responsible credit card use. I beg to differ.

I've had a credit card for about 3 years now and I have yet to pay interest. The only time I've had to pay more was when my payment was late, but I called them up and was able to drop the fee.

saving enough cash to buy a house? HAHA good luck. If you want to go without a credit card, go ahead, youll have zero credit until you realize you need one.

Credit isn't just established through credit cards. :) Your credit score has many variables. I'm not saying I agree with everything he says (I have a credit card I pay off every month too), but he is a very smart man. He's actual been in debt. He just has ideas where you can save incase emergencies come up (say your car breaks down), where you won't have to be dependent upon credit cards.

completed the budget assignment. I'm going to need around $400 a month. THAT'S CRAZY! I don't know where it goes.

Everyone should do this. It's kinda eye-opening to see how much money you spend.
