I thought they had changed the rules about 5 years ago which tied approval to verifiable income or getting parents to cosign.

My daughter spent last school year studying in the U.K. and she applied for a credit card for that. She had zero income, full time college student. Okay, she did make about $3,000 in 2012. It had a very low limit, like $1,000, but it was part of the college student banking package at Wells Fargo......credit card, checking account and savings account. Plan B was to get her a card on my account, but she got one no problem. Just got her credit limit increased, and she is still a full time student with no income.
