Until then, here's a few facts about chipmunks:
Chipmonks live a long time for rodents. Males live about five years; females about nine.
Chipmunks live mostly on seeds, nuts and fruit. They especially like ripe acorns and other nuts and seeds from pine cones.Green acorns are not good for chipmunks. They also eat eggs, insects and worms. Although they may steal from your garden, they also eat garden pests such as snails and slugs.
After storing up food in the summer and fall, chipmunks hibernate in their burrows during the cold days of winter. They do not sleep straight through the winter, but wake up and dine on their stored nuts and grains to build up their body fat before going back to sleep.
