Hi

This is my first time on here, hoping someone can help who has travelled to Orlando with 'Monarch' recently. We have booked to travel out there next August after travelling for the past 3 years with 'TCD' (never again after our 24-hour delay this August!!).

We have booked the premium service; can anyone reassure us that it is a good airline?!.......... :goodvibes

Thanks very much.

I used to be an Engineer there for 9 years (incl 4 years apprenticeship) and always found them a good airline, they look after their aircraft mechanically so looking after the passengers should be the same.

Hope you have a good hol!!! :earsboy:

Hi There

Welcome to the boards. :)

I flew with Monarch this August from Cardiff and I have also booked with them for next August, I too had the premium seating, I thought in comparison to My Travel who I have always flown with, that it was quite expensive, but in fairness, I cant complain about the service. We were checked in within 5 mins of reaching the check in at Cardiff and Sanford, our bags were the first off loaded at Florida but that only happens on the way out not return. We were the first to board at both airports, The seats are quite big and there is definatley more leg room. You have seat back tv's with loads to watch, free drinks throughout the flight and wine with your choice of meal. There was also a very nice pack waiting for us on our seats, which consisted of creams, socks, notpad, pens, eyemasks, tissues etc etc.

So yes I think it was a good service and the extra leg room alone does it for me.

The seat configaration is 2-4-2.and there are seven rows and 56 seats, we had row 3 going out and the back row coming back which was fantastic as we had plenty of room to put our seats back without disturbing anyone else.

If there is anything else I can help with, please let me know.

Thanks for the quick replies!!

Sue, that's always a good sign if you've booked to go with them again :)

Just a couple of questions, if you don't mind - what was the food like? and could you choose which programs/films you wanted to watch, ie. did you have more choice other than what was being shown to the rest of the 'plane?

Thanks everso.

Hi

Yes the food was really good, we had from start to finish on the way over, Orange Juice or water, then A cooked breakfast, which was omlette, fried pots, sausage, beans, mushrooms, with a hot roll, fruit, and a yoghurt thing.
Then about half way through we had a snack of some sort, but for the life of me I cant remember what it was. The drinks trolley came around about 4 times but if you wanted another drink in between you just had to press the bell, it was no problem. Then about an hour before we landed we had some sarnies, cant remember what they were as the drinks trolley had been around a few times by then lol(just kidding).

Pretty much the same thing on the way back but instead of breakfast we had a choice of chicken tikka, or beef something or other, but on both trips it was plenty and very good.

Yes you had about 5 films to choose from and 10 different channels of entertainment programmes, the people in the other cabin only had the tv 's that come from the ceiling so to speak and there was no choice, just what happened to be showing, but I believe they had a couple of films as well.

Where are you flying from ? Feel free to ask if you need any other info.

Thanks for the info, it is soooooo reassuring to know we've picked okay. We're flying from Manchester on a 9am flight, but we're staying over in Manchester the night before. Just out of interest, with Premium, is it still a 3-hour check-in, or can you check in 2 hours before??

90 mins, with premium, I hope you have a lovely time, we are going August 17th so I may bump into you out there.

I flew with Monarch (normal seats) in July and have no complaints with them at all. We have booked to go back next July with them too.

Sorry to be a downer.
We fly monarch in Aug and were also booked into premium. Our flight was at 9am and we stayed over at the crown plaza. We checked in @6am to be handed a letter saying our flight was not leaving until 2pm ! They bussed us over to the hilton hotel and gave us soup and diluted orange ( It was 7 am) We eventually left Manchester @ 8pm and arrived in Sanford @ 12:30am Exhausted. we found out as we were boarding plane that the reason for the delay was that they had to replace a hole engine ! I was very nervous that flight!
The week before us the monarch flight had been delayed 22 hours so we were lucky I guess.
Premium food was ok, seats were not that big. Thomas cook premium were bigger.
Dh said he would never fly with monarch again ! :confused3

Monarch Premium is the same as Virgin Economy as far as I'm concerned. I will never use them again.
