Monarch planes LGW to Sanford.

Flying next Saturday and have a few questions?

What are the planes like, old or new?

What is the seat configeration 3/4/2 ??

Is there seat back TV's ?

Main question is the seating arrangements. We have not pre booked felt ripped off paying £18 per person !! We will be at the airport 3 hours before departure so what is the likleyhood we will be sat together, are seats already allocated before arrival?

We have 2 children 11 and 9 is it against flying regs to split the family up, although I understand they could do 2+2?

We flew with first choice to Sanford on a charter flight on our first trip and our travel agent said to us not to bother with booking seats - told us it was a rip off as we had young children and we would be sat together.

We were and had no problems. I know there is no guarantee - but in my 4 trips I have never paid to sit together and we have always been next to each other. Personally I would not pay - but it depends how much it worries you. I know BA allocate seats to your party 72 hours if you have a child - I am not sure if monarch only allocate on checkin - may be worth calling

Flew Monarch last week. Think it was 3/3/3. Plane was really empty so we moved after take off (I had 3 seats).

On way out it was an italian plane in place of monarch and they seated us 2 + 1 across an aisle and classed that as together. I had a great flight as DH sat with DD

No seatback tv's - just overhead. They charge for headphones and soft drinks.

i flew last year and will be in a few weeks with them i beleve it was 3,3,3 there are tvs but not in the seats they are overhead but there are lots of them so you will be able to see. dont bother with pre booking seats turn up early like i do so im 1st in that que and ask if you can seat where u want (i ask for near the front) the food is ok crossants for breakfast and nice main meals and leg room ws quite comfy for the price with monarch it really is aot better than you might think have fun

This I believe is the plane Monarch use to fly from Gatwick to Sanford, so it is mainly 3-3-3 with some 2-3-2 at the back of the plane.

You have to pay for any alcohol. If you want seatback tv and free alcohol, why dont you see if you can upgrade to PE sometimes you can get an upgrade for £50 pp.

£50pp really? How do you go about getting that? I've been quoted hundreds to upgrade, plus my discount for choosing standard will be void so I'd have to pay the difference of my discount too.

I wouldn't mind spending £200 on top to fly PE but the quote was no where near that.

I'm flying Monarch, Gatwick to Sanford for the first time in October, sounds like we'll need the ipad for films etc

I'm concerned enough about trying to keep myself and the kids amused on Virgin!

Alot of people seemed to have ipads - family next to me had one each.

DD had our ipad, dh his kindle and I read magazines. You can watch tv overhead and they have music.

On the way back more of the same then tried to sleep.

Not as bad as it sounds. Flight was only 8 hours each way aswell.

I'm not worried bout the way home, I literally remember nothing about my last 2 night flights because I slept all the way home!

I'm taking my iPad but I don't think our budget stretches to buying another 6...
