Hi
Has anyone flown with Monarch (from Newcastle ) to Orlando. I wondered what the seat pitch is like in economy and if they have seat back TV.

With Thanks

Last August I flew Manchester to Sanford with Monarch - We had an 11 hr delay.

I was not impressed with them and would not fly with them again.

(We would have used NCL but we opted for the premium class and they only flew from Man)

I've used Thomas Cook from Newcastle ( 2 -3 yrs ago) and they were very good.

We live in Sunderland but often use Glasgow airport - it take under 3 hours to get there - and there are a lot of good options .

If you have any questions feel free to ask.

We travelled with Monarch last year from Belfast.

There were no seatback TV's, but the service and quality of the flight was better than our visit prior to that one (2003) on a MyTravel flight.

The crew were very good - my brother brough his 6 month old baby and they organised a skycot and ensured that our party of 10 all sat together in the bulkhead.

This year we are travelling with Virgin due to the cost of flying directly from Belfast increasing almost £1200 from last year. We would have no hesitation flying with Monarch in the future.

Hi There

I flew with Monarch last year from Cardiff to Orlando, economy had no seat back tv's and the seat pitch is standard, however depending on which aircraft you have, the back 10-12 rows on our aircraft were a 2 - 2 seat formation, due to the shape change of the plane at the rear, which If I had to fly with them again, I would try and get, as there seemed to be a bit more room back there.

Hope that helps.

we flew with monarch from newcastle to sanford last year and it was the worst flight i have ever been on, there is no seat back telly's just the drop down ones and not many of then either, and the seat pitch is ok if your an oompa loompa otherwise there is no room to move your elbows
the food was disgusting we took some snacks and drinks on board and glad we did.
the cabin crew well we rarley saw them as they were too busy chatting behind the curtains that was drawn for the entire flight. so you could say monarch are total rubbish and you would be right.
well after all that i have the misfortune of using them again this year as they seem to be the only ones who fly from newcastle to sanford, sorry to be so harsh about monarch but its best to be prepared.
ps when are you flying to orlando ?
;) ;)

Hi,
Thanks for the info...I am glad that I know what to expect...i'll expect the worst and anything good about the flight will be a bonus!!!

We aren't going until June next year. We haven't booked yet but have been given a price which seems very reasonable from Orlando specialists at www.flights2orlando.com . They said that the flights were with Thomas Cook and Monarch. I now have to weigh up whether it is worth putting up with Monarch or trying to find another flight. :confused3

We went on the Newcastle flight in October and it was fine. Going by Thomas Cook on 28th April so I'll tell you what it's like!

Sorry to say but I agree that Monarch are the worst carriers I have been on. The seat pitch is really bad. No seat back tvs and the food was pretty bad too.

Monarch are the only ones to go from Newcastle but I would rather drive to Manchester to avoid using them again.

After researching Monarch flights last year I was expecting a bad flight but nothing could have been further from the truth. We flew from Newcastle last July with no flight delays there or back. Staff were helpful and the food was perfectly edible, standard aeroplane food. We knew before hand there would be no seat back tvs but there were plenty of ceiling ones which we could all see clearly. The seats were perfectly fine, I had plenty of room (5 ft 5 ins Size 10), hubbie is 6 foot, medium build and it was the first flight he had felt comfortable in. The kids had plenty of leg room too, both of them are of medium build and fast approaching 6 foot. There were two films, plus comedy shows going, coming back they was a fault with the system which was fixed in flight and one film was shown plus a Parkinson show. Duty free trollies and drinks can round in between meals. We were just in ordinary seats, we didn't reckon the Premium seats looked anything special. All in all I couldn't fault them at all.

We are going with them again this year.

we travelled with Monarch abour 3 years back and will hopefully not fly with them again, firstly, the flight was delayed by a few hours, they had troubles with equipment / plane door wouldnt shut. There was sick on some of the pillows (even my sisters) and the service was poor. I dont have anything positive to say, even though tat may seem harsh. Hardly any of the seatbelts worked and they even took them off grown men to give to children etc...worst flight, ever

Hi Linda

We flew with Monarch out of NCL to SFB in Oct 2004, we had a good flight with them and would not hesitate to fly with them again.
We've also flown Thomas Cook from NCL to SFB and had a lovely flight with them, the plane was lovely and clean, seat back tv's.
If the flights were the same price etc, I would choose TC :)
