I want to apologize profusely if this is the wrong place to ask this question, so please slap me on the hand if it is.

We are visiting Mont-St-Michel as a side trip, but not staying right on Mont-St-Michel. I am wondering if it would be safe to leave your luggage in the trunk of your car parked in the parking area while you visit for the day? I'm debating if I need to pick a hotel that I will reserve for two nights in one place so we can leave our luggage in the hotel, but it would be better "itinerary-wise" if I could split the hotel stay up. I tried researching it online, but it seems like there's a new system there now and I can't find many opinions on this.

Merci!:goodvibes

As long as you have no bags on the back seat - You have to remember that car boots are a lot smaller here than what you are no doubt used to so we have smaller cases and all ;)

We often go away for a few days and visit sites along the way with a full boot - never had any bother and I would rather do this than pay for a hotel room just to really store bags

Mont St Michel is amazing but you have to be there very very early before the tour buses especially in the summer or you won't really enjoy your time :)

What do you mean by a new system?

Ive been to Mont St Michel a few times (but not for a few years) and the main car park was very busy so always people coming and going.
However like anywhere if there is anything on view its an invitation to thieves.

Will all the luggage be hidden away?
Maybe try and make sure you dont open the trunk when you arrive - have everything you need in the car with you so no one sees the car has luggage in and dont leave anything in the car at all

They have redone the causeway and it's much better now.

The new car park is around 2.5 km away and they have put shuttle buses on or you can walk :)

Thanks - I was just curious what they could have changed
