Moms, what to wear for shoes?

This is our first trip to Disney World, but for DisneyLand, Crocs ballet flats were perfect! However, it might be worth getting them in advance and walking in them a bit before putting them to the Disney test, just to make sure they work for you!

I usually where Teva Mush flip flops on our Disney trips and have never had a problem. I would just get some kind of flip flop that has some support (not the cheap plastic ones).

I never wear the same shoes two days in a row. No matter the kind off shoe, if I wear the same pair twice in a row I end up in pain.

That said, I like flip flops, but I feel like my feet are really gross by the end of the day.

This. I never wear the same shoes twice in a row.
I'll be wearing my birkenstock sandals, my Chaco sandals, maybe my keens, MAYBE my running shoes, but I doubt it. And MAYBE my toms. I'll see how comfy those will be...lol

All good points.

The main thing to keep in mind is, you will be doing lots of walking. Not standing or working or hanging out - walking. Would you go out and do a 3 mile walk in your flops? If so, do it! You know, you could also put some back-up sandals in your park bag if you want and change while you're out...

I alternate shoes as well, usually midday. We do a break midday, and I usually switch out then.

Teva Tirras, running shoes, Teva mush (dang, I must like Tevas), and casual sneakers all get a turn. I think if you wear the same shoes too much, you will end up overworking something.

I'd do a really comfortable pair of running or gym shoes with some mole skin, band-aids, or some anti blister glide/gel. Then, the next day wear a different pair of running shoes or very, very comfortable flip flops. When I went to Disney, I wore flip flops and gym shoes. That way, the same blisters aren't being rubbed every day. Have fun on your trip :)

Yay, my KEEN sandals are here. And the kids have their Keens too. I will still bring my tennis shoes, I guess, just in case.

I always alternate - any shoes no matter how comfy, will bother me if I walk around in them too many days in a row. Last trip I brought flop flops, reg sneakers and a pair of converse.

I HAVE to wear a good sneaker in the parks - we do far too much walking, standing & sometimes running (rain) to be comfortable with sandals or flips. The only exception is if we are taking a laid-back evening at DTD or something where we are wandering more than normal. I can change into sandals after a break at the hotel & be fine for the evening, but it's back to sneakers for the park in the morning.

I always wear flip flops, but I always wear flip flops. It will just depend on what makes you more comfortable.

I spent 10 days in the parks in late May/Early June this year. Wore my Sanuk flip flops the entire time. I should have had at least one other pair of shoes (sneakers) for the park to change into. Totally destroyed the Sanuks and came home with foot problems I am still dealing with.

Sneakers!

With my prescription orthotics inside. I don't care how they look, because I look worse hobbling around with arthritic knees.

I always consider 2 things:
1. I'll never see these people again
2. Everyone is checking out my body, not my footwear, LOL.:rotfl2:

I always wear flip flops at the parks and have never had any trouble. For our upcoming trip I bought Clarkes flip flops to break them in for a few months. Well, I broke them in too much.......they broke!!! :sad2:

Looks like I have to start over again on my search for the perfect flip flop for our trip.

Love this thread! For those who love the Teva Mush flip flops - are they the original or the Mush ii? I just did some research online and from what I read the originals are preferred?? Anyone prefer the Keen over the Teva? Thanks!!

My favorite shoes for the parks are OluKai Ohana flip flops. I'd never wear cheap rubber flip flops down there, but love my OluKai Ohana's. Other flip flops that don't bother my feet done there are the Orthoheels, Sketcher Tone Ups, and Montrail Molokini.

Before getting planter fasciitis though, I swore by Teva Mush (the originial not the II), Reefs, Nike Celso, Sanuck Yoga Mats, and Yellow Box Jello. Alas, since developing plantar fasciitis, I can no longer wear those brands for very long.

I bring. 2 shoes to Disney". My keens and flip flops.

I wear my keens as soon as the snow melts til it starts back up again. Ok not really but I wear my keens daily if weather permits. I have walked in them as well. I have never had a problem. But...we take a mid day break, frequently sit for rides, etc...

Now my flip flops are the cheap old navy kind and good enough for the beach and that is it. So they get worn to the pool in Disney.

I can't wear sneakers in Disney because it is too hot when we go and I like my feet to get some air.

My kids wore flip flops but my girls have the nike soft and cushy ones. They'd dint wear them daily but it worked for them.

My son got some pressure areas from his keens. Partly because he doesn't wear them daily and partly because I think that they were getting too small for him. But he wore his flip flops while his feet took a keen break.

I say whatever your feet are used to wear. If you don't normally wear flip flops don't wear them around Disney.

Oh and bring moleskin and scissors. I have brought it on every trip I have taken in the past 20 years or so and never had to use it but in August my son did and I was thankful for it.

My dd (14) and I are both flip flop wearers so we are fine. BUT I where them all the time so my feet are used to them.

DW and both girls alternated between sneakers and flip flops (the latter to every park with water rides).

DW likes Sketchers flip flops, DD13 likes the cushioned Nike ones, and DD8 wears whatever :lmao:

Croc Athen flip flops have always worked wonderfully for me. I bring a few different pair in different colors along with a pair of sneakers.

After many trips to Disney, I've realized my favourite running sneakers and thin socks are the way to go. My feet have never gotten soaked, even on wet rides so blisters were not an issue. In the evenings when he go to dinner or Downtown, I wear sandals/flip flops to let my toes breathe.

I've tried Birkenstocks and Crocs in the parks and found them to be comfortable but had issues with getting hurt. People either stepped on my toes or ran their stroller over my foot. So broken in, comfort to the max sneakers it is.
