Moms to be Part 4

I pumped exclusively with DS because he wouldn't latch on. I am definitely going to try to breastfeed this baby and I am really hoping it will work this time, but if not I may end up pumping again too. I managed to make it 7 months with DS but then my milk dried up. :goodvibes

We just got back from a wonderful Disney vacation. It was our best trip yet. I wasn't sure how it would go being pregnant at Disney, but I am feeling so much better since I started my 2nd trimester so it was really nice. :cloud9:

OOOOO, tell me all about your trip. When we go I will be 22 weeks. I've never been pregnant before, and I'm not terribly tired, but I do get winded very easily. I need some first-hand experience!!

Has anyone gotten so sick they ruptured the blood vessels in their face??

I just got sick (ugh) and it happened again. Happened a few times with DS when I got sick during galblladder attacks but this is the first time during this pregnancy. I look terrible!!

I was going to run errands but I'm thinking I might just go curl up in bed and watch a movie instead.

Aww Patsy - I hope you feel better. That stinks ... Rest, take it easy ... no need to run errands, they will wait.

Vette - I have done Disney pregnant ... I think I was around 16-18 weeks. It was fine. It was super hot so I just took a few extra breaks sitting down. I did get very dizzy one morning but I have super low blood pressure so that's probably from that.

Becky - I hope you feel better soon ... have they talked about taking the baby sooner rather than waiting for you to go into labor? At least you are ALMOST there!

So I decided against the Arm's Reach for now. I am going to use my mom's pack n play since I want to keep ours downstairs. If I find that we are all able to sleep in the same room after a week or two, then I'll buy the Arm's Reach. DH snores and sometimes it's pretty bad. I wear ear plugs which I can't do with the baby in the same room so I am worried I won't be able to sleep regardless!!

One more week to go. I can't believe it. The second time around is so different, at least for me. I can't wrap my head around the fact that I am having a new person. I think because the gender is the same and everything ... I keep thinking I am just having Alex all over again. Does that make any sense? Like when the Dr. shows me the baby just after delievery, I keep thinking it will be Alexander! It's a wierd emotion. Maybe I am wierd. I also probably already wrote this in another post earlier! :-)

I'm glad we are going in April when it won't be super hot. But I plan on spending a lot of time in the pool and taking it easy.

I think the same thing! I say stuff like "her" like I'm having DD. I don't even know the sex yet. :lmao: I'm glad I'm not the only one going crazy!

I thought all the walking would be hard because I didn't really exercise at all my first trimester (I was too sick ), but I was amazed at how I was able to do it with no problems. We had gorgeous weather though and I'm sure that helped.

We took a midday break every day for DS's nap and I think that helped a lot. I actually got into a routine of taking a nice long bath to soak my muscles and I always felt rejuvenated afterwards. :goodvibes

Since I couldn't ride a lot of things this trip we focused more on shows and things we had never done before like the Nemo show at AK and Tom Sawyer's Island. It was really a great trip. I also let DS pick out a present for the baby and he loved that. :cutie:

I don't think you're weird at all. I still can't fathom adding a whole new person to our family. DH and I never planned on having another and our family truly did feel complete so it's kind of surreal thinking about starting over completely. I can only imagine how I'll feel when I'm as far along as you. It is overwhelming for sure - totally different than being pregnant with #1.

Allison - I was so convinced that this one was a girl. I think because I wanted one so badly and my PG was very different in the beginning so I was calling the baby her too. Dh was convinced it was another boy from the start!! He is also convinced #3 would be a boy and then possibly a girl for #4. Not even sure if we are going to go with #3 at this point anyway!! :-) If we do I am certainly trying some swaying methods for a DD!

I was convinced this was a girl too... which is why I was in shock when they told me boy. It's odd though, because back in November, when I had just found out I was pregnant, and I was spending every weekend at my dad's side as he was dying, I was sure it was a boy.

Just wanted to chime in about going to Disney pregnant. I went at 31/32 weeks with DD in September of 2003 and it was one of my favorite trips. We were so relaxed...spent two days at the waterparks and just took lots of breaks. I have a trip scheduled for May now for me and DD and I'll just be into the second trimester. I wanted to do something special with DD since her life is going to be turned upside down by this baby (although she has asked for a sibling forever). She will be 7 when the baby is born so she'll have been an only child for 7 years. We are going my best friend and her dd so it will be a girls trip. As much as I want it to be special time for me and dd I also want her to get to do all the things she enjoys and since I won't be able to ride many of those she will have someone she can ride them with. We're only going for 3 days and taking one day at the pool though so it will be short and sweet - and I'm hoping a really memorable trip.

In the meantime I don't go for my next HCG draw until Thursday which simply cannot get here soon enough! I should be having my first ultrasound soon after that though which I'm looking forward to. I'm amazing confident that this pregnancy is going to be just fine, but I still am anxious to see good data backing that up.

I'm not sure what we are going to do with this baby though because my 3 year old has officially moved into our bed. :rolleyes1 We put him in his bed every night and as soon as I fall asleep he climbs into our bed and usually steals my pillow too.

LOL, DD has moved into our bed too. I can move her back into her bed until I'm blue in the face, but for right now... she's in our bed. (So we all can get a little sleep!)

Glad you had a nice WDW trip!!

*snip*
So, DH and I arranged sitters last night and were supposed to go out for one last hurrah with our friends before the baby came- we had plans for hibachi table at a local Japanese restaurant and then glow bowling (not sure I was going to bowl but I was going to go and laugh at everyone ;) )

Well, I got my night out, and a late one at that (5 am- yikes!), but it was to the ER. I was just having such a hard time breathing, getting dizzy, etc... took a five minute shower and felt like I'd been in a fight or something. Had to admit that DH was right and we called our friends and said sorry, we can't go, and off to the ER we went.

The doctor was really worried about a pulmonary embolism and ordered some blood work, which supported that concern so I got to have a CT Scan. I was really worried about it (still am) and how it would affect the baby but the risks were too high to not do it. The ER doc was conferring with the on call doc from my practice up in L&D the whole time too and he agreed. Luckily, no PE, but they were able to see a pneumonia mass on the pics, so I'm on antibiotics again, and the breathing treatments with the nebulizer still.

The other weird thing is my heart rate is really elevated- like 110 at rest and when they had me walk (waddle) a lap around the nurses station it jumped to the 140's. I'm following up with my ob's office tomorrow and I'm going to probably be monitored a lot more closely now.

The icing on the cake- I have lousy veins. They had to place an IV for the CT Scan and they got it in but not really well I guess, so when they pushed the dye for the scan it leaked out of my vein and now I have this big mass of contrast stuck under my skin. Most of it is in a ball near my elbow but it spread all over and it's gross- you can actually see the difference in the color of my skin. Can't wait for that to go away. DH bought me a hot water bottle because heat is supposed to help it dissipate.

I am so ready to be done being sick, and honestly, with being pregnant. I just want to feel normal again.

OMG, you poor thing. You must feel absolutely awful. Hopefully you have a happy healthy baby in your arms really soon.

Hi everyone! Good to see some new faces on here. :) I'm furloughed today, so I'm catching up on housework and DISing!

Sorry to just get back to you. Yes, we have the Original one. It's so nice. We really like it. Baby is right there and it's easy to move around. It's a nice investment and one you can sell or pass on.

Is anyone planning to pump exclusively? I did with DD and really enjoyed it. I tried to breastfeed for the first week but we could never work the latch out right and I had the worst cracked nipple. It was torturous! So I started pumping and I made it 4 months before I pretty much dried up. Which worked out because I was going back to school and pumping would have been challenging.

I think I'm going to try the breast again, but more likely pull the pump out. Just wondering if anyone else pumps exclusively?

I pumped exclusively for about 2 months with DD. Latching on was SO painful. I tried everything, 3 lactation consultants, LaLecheLeague meetings... ugh. SO pumping it was, that was a bit less painful. I gave up around 4.5 or so months.

I just had to share my excitement since no one IRL really cares lol...

I got my double stroller!! UPS just dropped it off, and I couldn't wait to take it out of the box. How cool!! It's becoming real, I'm gonna be a mommy of 2!!!

yay!!! How fun! Take pictures after it's put together for us. :goodvibes

I am excited to start buying goodies for this baby but I want to wait to know the gender first. :cutie:

That's so fun Mrs. C.!

Gabe's Mommy: I really want to buy stuff for the baby too, but DH said I have to wait until we find out the gender. Ugh. Still almost another month: I go back to the DR next Thursday, and we will schedule our big ultrasound. I was hoping they would try it that day, but I guess not. Oh well.

I posted this on the Disney for Families board as well, but haven't gotten any responses, so I thought I would c&p here:
Does anyone on the boards own an InStep safari AR245 swivel wheel jogging stroller? If so, what can you tell me about it?

After looking through stroller after stroller and travel system after travel system, DH and I are thinking this is the stroller for us. We like to do a lot of outdoor things and live in a rural area, so we think the larger tires will work better than the small tires of a traditional travel system. We also don't want the bulk of a regular travel system. We don't actually jog, so IDK about performance in that regard.

The safari comes with an adaptor to hold an infant carrier if we need to, and also reclines. We like the look of this stroller and think it would work well for us (and for Disney ) but I wanted to see if anyone who has owned one could offer up any opinions either way.

Hope everyone is having a good day :)

Ohhh!!! I get mine tomorrow, I am so excited! :rotfl:

Wow! Another month???
I go to my OB on Monday and she'll give me the order to schedule my ultrasound. I really hope she doesn't tell me to wait another week because I'm going consignment sale shopping with my best friend next Friday. I'd love to know what I am having by then!!

She did my ultrasound with DS at 18 weeks so I think I have a pretty good shot at finding out next week!!

I have a feeling this is a girl, too, but it might just be wishful thinking. I want a little girl so bad. I see little girl clothes and cry in the stores.
I never did that wish DS... maybe because this is my last baby? :confused3

I went upstairs and crawled into bed and fell asleep. DS woke up at 11:30... gave him a bottle and crawled back in bed to wait on him and he fell asleep again! He's still asleep. We're ALL messed up at my house. :rotfl:

My big U/S is already scheduled for April 12th. I can't wait! I'll be 18.5 weeks then.

With my DS I just felt strongly that he was a boy from the very beginning, but with this baby I really have no idea. I would love to have a girl, but a boy would save us a ton of money because we could reuse all of DS's really cute, barely worn stuff.

DH tried to pull that "wait until we find out" crap with me... nuh-uh! That didn't fly. I told him I'm going to buy something (pink exersaucer, specifically) and that if it was the wrong gender color, I'd just exchange it for the right one. I try to get things on sale, so trying to both wait *and* get good deals-- well that wouldn't work! Its like before I found out I was pregnant, I found a TON of cute stuff on clearance that I wanted SO badly... but I didn't buy it. Now I'm not really finding much. Just waiting for the "new" stuff to come out, and use a coupon. (I'm such a cheapskate sometimes!) I've bought some clothes, but I kept all the receipts, because I'm going to have to do *some* returning either way. Some deals I just wasn't passing up.

Oh and my mom said to "cool it" with the shopping-- ugh. She has such tact sometimes. I think she has issues with the whole 2nd baby thing-- I'm an only.

Irisbud-- I have no idea about that stroller. We started out with a Graco (bleccch!) and then moved on to Maclarens. I know *nothing* about jogging strollers. I'm sorry!

Gabe'sMommy- I'm waiting until DH gets home to put the hoods and bottle holders on. I'll post a pic when I do! It's so prettttttyyyy :) DD's climbing in it already. I tried putting one of her dolls in the other side... HAHA she wasn't having that! Uh oh!!

We had our second ultrasound on Friday and it looks like we're having another little girl around July 25. princess:
