Moms Panel Results!?

As I posted days ago I was not selected BUT I also want to say I am a little confused as to why some of you feel so "rejected"? As with any contest you enter you must know that "everybody" can not win. Take it in stride! I would hate to think that a few of you are "really" this upset about NOT being selected to move on. CHEER UP!!

As silly as this might sound, I think people feel rejected because we LOVE Disney so much. We spend a lot of time dreaming up and planning our trips. When we walk onto Main Street we tear up . We want so much to express our love to others so they can share in it. That is why we spend time on the Dis boards, planning others trips for them and why the Mom's Panel felt like home. I know personally that when I first heard about the Mom's Panel, I felt like I WAS the MOM that the imagineers had dreamt up. I know that I am in good company here. Thank goodness for all of you. It is because of you that I don't feel rejected ( and probably because of you that I am rejected ) , sure that trip would have been real nice ...... especially if a tour of the castle suite is involved! But it was a long shot. Nevertheless, it always hurts when something you love can't give you what you feel you deserve.

I too am one of those moms who have yet to hear anything!! I know my email address is correct as I received the thank you for submitting.... I do know they have had my email address incorrect and my old mailing address and I've changed them every single time I call! Is there anyother way you can verify if you've been sent anything i.e for example if they sent it to the wrong email address?? I'd rather just hear either way. For me it would have been a dream come true but alas maybe somewhere down the road....

Congrats to all selected for round 2, goodluck, it would be awesome if several DIS members make the panel. Dh asked me if I was going to enter and I said nope! Working fulltime...I must admit, Disney is my passion and my hobby, but there are many more qualified than I. After being on the DisBoard, I became accutely aware of just how much I still have to learn about WDW, and just how much most of my fellow Dis'ers know. But...that's the most exciting part, because I know it will take many, many more wonderful trips to Disney, just to catch up to you all.

Yes, I am a Mom, wife and daughter who has spread the magic of Disney to all of those around me, who will listen. And of the friends and family who won't listen or think I'm just crazy.....well I even threw a little pixie dust their way too!!!!!!

I just want to thank all of you, semifinalists or not.....for all the great advice and encouragement I have received in the short time I have been on the DisBoards. You are all experts and winners in my book.

Congrats again to all the people who were selected to move on...male or female!! I just wanted to add that they could not really call it a "Parent's Panel" either due to they selected someone who did not have any kids at all. So, maybe they could call it "WDW's Expert Panel of everything Disney". That way no one would feel "weird" they were on a Mom's panel if in fact they were not a Mom/female. Just my weird way of thinking? I felt all along there would be controversy about what they were calling it. There are so many different, blended families out there and really it would be unfair to discriminate and not include all WDW planning experts.

To those of you that got the rejection letter with the statement about being contacted for something in the future...if I remember reading the contest rules correctly didn't it say that the 12 chosen would be for 6 months? If so, then maybe they are going to contact these other people for the next 6 months? Again, just a thought! Here's to wishing, hoping and believing in all things DISNEY.

The 12 Chosen has to commit to at least 6 months on the panel, but can continue as long as you want.

I have sent my second round replies back in, but did not get a confirmation back. Did anyone who sent their responses in get any kind of confirmation that WDW had received their answers?

Nope, nothing back - but I wasn't expecting to get a confirmation. I don't believe we got a confirmation on the original questions, either. Again, keeping the responses at under 100 words was the biggest challenge of the whole process!

It was interesting to me that last time they litterally cut you off after 100 words...but this time it seemed to me like we could keep going and going. I wrote all I could think of first, then went back and edited as close as I could get to 100 words. In order to be somewhat creative and still answer the question, I think I might have gone over by a few words...it depends on how they count. I actually think as long as we did not write a disertation we should be ok.

Also...did you get that the deadline is tonight at midnight or tomorrow night at midnight. It says in the letter 12:00AM, October 24, Eastern Standard time...technically that is tonight. Not a biggie since we have both already sent in our responses, but I was just curious...and obviously excited to see what is next.

Yeah, I thought that was a strange way to explain the deadline – it might have made better sense to state that the deadline was midnight tonight with no exceptions after midnight. I hope everyone get their answers in on time!

Things should click along pretty quickly now since they said that those selected to move on as a finalist will be contacted via email between Monday and Thursday next week. So we may know by the end of this week who are finalists?!?

When I returned home from our magical WDW vacation last night, I had a reply to my application from the Disney Mom's Panel. It was a NO!!!! But as a thank you for applying, it gave me some link to get some notepad download that I can personalize. Oh well......Has anyone heard a yes yet?

I sent in my round two answers, too...no confirmation and the PDF link wouldn't load...what did that link lead to? Just curious what the token of appreciation was. I typed my answers in Word to keep track of the word count because I saw, too, that it didn't cut you off in the form...I didn't want to be off the list due to that kind of technicality! I agree that the hardest part was keeping it to 100 words...esp. with those questions! lol Add to that my inclination to tell you how the watch works when you ask me the time and you get major perspiration on my part to get my message across in as few words as possible! Good luck, everyone...I hope they don't keep us hanging for long!

My PDF link did not work either. I also crafted my responses in Word to make sure I had exactly 100 words. Like someone said, I also didn't want to be eliminated on a technicality of having too many words.

I believe we are going to hear something this week as phone interviews will be held next week and I'm sure they will want to make an appointment for that.

I don't post much over here, but I spend lots of time over at the TGM forums.

I also made it to the second round.

I have been very hesitant to post here due to some earlier negative vibes. As the next round approaches, it seems to be getting friendly again, so I thought I'd try to join the party. Hope you all don't mind.

To add to some of the stats being collected so far:
-I am a dad (DD3, DS5, DD7)
-I live in the Chicago area
-I have been to WDW and DL numerous times
-I am not a DVC owner
-I have fewer than 50 posts on DIS (but almost 800 on TGM)

I wish everyone in the second round the best of luck!!!

When we were selected for the Travel Channel show, there were a few who openly objected here - but far fewer than on other boards (which led me actually to settle here on the DIS). Once the show premièred, there were some who still grumbled. But for the most part, the great majority of people here are very supportive and enthusiastic. I know the feeling of being passed over - every evening I’m at the Magic Kingdom I look up at the light on in the Castle suite and realize I'm not moving in, and I feel like those up there could never appreciate it as much as me!

Anyway, thanks for all the supportive people out there – once I don’t make it as a finalist, I’ll join you!

BTW - The "gift" given the semi-finalists was a nice certificate saying you made it to the next level. Nice and pink. Makes my wife laugh.

Anyway - hold your breath everyone!
