What you probably don't need to know but I'm gonna tell you anyway.......

We are two moms (Becky and Aimee...that's me:wave2:) that have decided that it is our turn. Our hubbies have been on several golf trips (one of which was to California, where my dh and I always said we'd go for the first time together...hmphh:mad:) and were talking about another one while we were out as couples one evening. That is when we emphatically stated that there would be no more guy trips until we had a girl trip! During the same evening Becky asked where we were staying during our family trip to the world in November. The answer is BLT....as I was explaining how excited I was to stay there since it was part of the Contemporary and right by my most favorite park...she walloped her hubby (gently of course) on the arm and explained that for as long as she could remember it had been a dream of hers to stay at the hotel where the monorail runs through it. That was when the idea struck that we should head to Disney for our girls trip. My family and I didn't go in 2009 so we had lots of points even after our 10 November trip was planned. I told her I couldn't make any promises about getting us in at BLT on such late notice but that I would try. Long story short I was only able to manage one night at BLT but we'll take it. The only other resort with consecutive days was SSR so that is where we will spend the remainder of our trip. SO.................

What you need to know......

WHO: Becky and myself (Aimee), two moms looking forward to an awesome girls only trip :woohoo: to my most favorite place on earth (and trying not to feel guilty for going without our kids)

WHEN: September 22-26.....SOOOOOONNNNN:dance3:

WHERE: Our first night will be spent at BLT and the other 3 nights will be at SSR

What you WANT to know.....

Here are our thoughts on what our schedule will look like. I am doing all the planning, I have asked Becky on several occasions her thoughts on what she would like to do but she is deferring to me since she has never stayed on property, done mostly day trips and has never eaten at a table service restaurant. So I'm hoping I can count on some of you to give me any tips or suggestions that you think might make this the best it can be for my friend. I'll be back in November for 10 glorious days so I'm not worried about me I just want it to be the best that it can be for Becky!

Wed. 22nd.....

We land at MCO at 4:22 pm and catch ME.
Obviously we won't do much on this day. We will probably go to TOTWL to try to catch Wishes and then head over to Poly for dinner at Kona Cafe.

Thur. 23rd......

Epcot and Via Napoli for lunch (may try to walk up at Le Cellier and see if there is any chance they can take us)

Still debating some for this day. Trying to decide if we should keep it as Epcot or have our free day here. This is the day we will will have to check out of BLT and move to SSR. I have never done a split stay and am not sure what to expect.....THOUGHTS???

Fri. 24th.....

Magic Kingdom and The Plaza for lunch

We are definitely doing MK this day as it is the only day while we are there (other than arrival day) that has Main Street Electrical Parade and Wishes (both of which are a must for us, and the only request that Becky made)

Sat. 25th......

Free day to do whatever it is that we wish....shopping, the pool, the spa, maybe tea at GF who knows.

So there ya have it....what do you think???

Sounds wonderful! If time and the budget allow, you may want to check out the spa at SSR; your free day would be a great time to relax with a massage! ;)

I've never done a girls trip..but what a wonderful idea.....second the spa suggestion....maybe look into doing one of the tours....we did the keys to the kingdom tour at the mk and really enjoyed it....also i'd keep calling to see if any more days open up at BLT you never know when some pixi dust may come your way:wizard:

I think it sounds wonderful! I would keep your Epcot day as you have it. You can go to the park and keep busy with lunch and touring while Disney moves your bags. I don't like moving on an "off" day because I don't like not having a place to go if I am done with doing nothing. I'd save that for a day when you are settled.

We had one night at a different resort in June and moving was a piece of cake. We packed up, called Bell Services, and they came and got our bags. We told them we were moving, they gave us the claim tickets and were gone. We then just took ourselves to the park as usual. When we were done park touring, we took transportation to our next resort. We checked in and then got our bags and settled in. Disney had plenty of time to move the bags to the next resort while we were busy. It is quite easy to do.

I third the spa suggestion - even if you don't get massages - manicures, pedicures, something that pampers the two of you. I prefer the spa at SSR, so that works out nicely since you are staying there. But, I also think afternoon tea is a must. I would definitely plan for that if you can get an ADR. If timing works better, you could always do that spa treatments at GF before/after tea.

I hope that whatever you do, you have a great weekend of girl time!!

Good for the two of you!:cool1:How fun to be with some one who won't mind shopping - I have 4 boys who want to keep moving - so I am looking forward to being with just DH this fall - he's much more patient with my shopaholic tendencies. Get a spa treatment, relax and have a drink for all those hard working women out there!:goodvibes

Enjoy and have a ball, I went for the 1st time for 6 nights with 2 girlfriends in May stayed at OKW and it sooooo relaxing even though they were more commando then my DD's! lol Started each day on the balcony with coffee in hand ended each day with a glass of wine once again on our peaceful balcony! I felt incredibly refreshed and still have not broke it to my family that I think I will need to do this at very least every other year!:rolleyes1

If your schedule permits, you might check the prices for Cirque du Soleil's La Nouba at DTD.

I got an email recently with about a half-price offer ($50-55). It was for this fall and a time when we're not going, so I didn't pay much attention to it. I'm not sure if it was from Club Cirque, a Florida resident special, or what.

La Nouba would be a great payback for the California golf trip!

I think that sounds fantabulous!!!

I definitely like the spa idea! I do have BLT (two different views) on wait list so here's to hoping for some pixie dustpixiedust:

Thank you so much for your input on moving. Like I said I have never experienced a split stay and therefore don't know what to expect. Knowing that your transition was "a piece of cake" definitely puts my mind at ease and your point of not having a place to go if we're done doing nothing is something I hadn't thought of. So I will definitely keep our Epcot day. And with all this spa talk I can almost smell that heavenly spa smell!:cloud9:

I am also a mom of 4....3 boys/1 girl and Becky has 4...2boys/2girls and one of the things that she is looking forward to the most is taking our good old time meandering through every shop on Main Street without being pulled, tugged, and hurried up!!! Just the thought has me doing the happy dance

I think making it an every other year event sounds glorious! I don't even remember what its like to do the world without my kidlets. I know I will miss them and I'd never be able to pull this off if it weren't for the fact that we have our November trip to look forward to.

Ya know I hadn't even thought of La Nouba...I have never been to any of the Cirque shows. I've heard such fantastic things about them and have always wanted to go. That is a VERY good idea!! Thank you so much for the idea!!!

oh I am definitely in for this TR! :cool1:

I think going to the park on a moving day is your best bet. You can pack up and be ready to be moved before you leave and then they will text you when your bags are at SSR and your room is ready. Like the PP said 'piece of cake'! And also that way you dont necessarily 'feel homeless' while you wait.

A spa day morning, afternoon tea at GF and Cirque at night is absolutley THE BEST way to spend your free day!! If you throw in a nightcap at Portobello's or a sundae at Ghiradelli's my life would be complete. :rotfl:

I am so excited for you right now I want to go ahead and make those reservations for you!!!:woohoo:

Cant wait for more!!!

Have a blast. You both deserve it.
I'm doing my first trip with girlfriends in Feb. We are running the Princess half and there should be 5 of us. Problem is, a couple of them want to stay off site, and they are not Disney planners. I think it would be a blast to go with one good friend and have a fun time not trying to coordinate everyones wishes.

Have fun.
Oh, and I agree on going to EPCOT for moving day. We have done many split stays and they are painless. Call bell services, check out, go to a park, check back in at the new hotel after you are done at the parks. No worries at all. And we've done it with young kids and an infant.

No guilt!!! Go and have fun!!

Split stay is pretty easy. Go and enjoy your day at the park, your new home will be ready later.

Definitely do Afternoon Tea and GF. Very ladylike and fun without the hubbies! Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!!!

Ya know...I think you just planned a PERFECT girls day. I'm going to have to run all this by Becky and see what she thinks. And I think that a nightcap AND a sundae are both something that needs to happen!! And thank you for sharing in my excitement. Its been years since I've done a girls weekend and I am thrilled to be doing one in Disney!

Have a blast. You both deserve it.

Wow....your doing some serious work for a girls weekend!!! Good luck! And I hope that you can convince them that staying on site is the BEST way to go!!! ;)

Thank you, thank you, thank you! I fully intend to eek out every last drop of girlie enjoyment on this trip! I think I will call tomorrow and see if I can get a reservation for Tea and surprise my friend with it. I think that would be really fun!

I am sooooo excited!! :dance3: We leave for the airport in about an hour and our plane takes off at 12:12. Unfortunately we have a stop in Charlotte but around 4 we should be landing in Orlando and then with a quick trip on Magic Express we will be THERE!!!!! We have reservations at Kona at 9, that was the only thing available online, but I think that we may be able to get in sooner. Our plan once we get there is to get settled and then take a little trip on the monorail and visit Poly and GF. Maybe catch fireworks from TOTWL!

Thanks for checking in with us!! Cant wait for pics and to hear all about it!! Have a magical girls trip!! :cloud9:
