we will have an back w/ the extras in it and a small cooler. What kind of bag do you carry the neccesities in? and do you have pics of them We will need a few diapers, sippy cup, bottle, camcorder, an a couple snacks.. WOW haha it sounds like we are going to have a lot to carry. Maybe I'll pack the cooler w/ the extra diapers and stuff too? I don't know. thanks for your help

I like backpacks so my hands are free. My diaper bag was a backpack style, and for everyday now, I use a tiny backpack as a purse! We just had an old Timberland backpack that we used. Nothing fancy.

My DS is older, but I love the back pack too. We have a plain black one, so anyone can carry. I use it as my purse, first aid bag, camera bag, snack bag (don't usually take too much into parks) and we put rain ponchos, sweatshirts, and maybe extra clothes for DS in it depending on the weather etc...

I have bought several different bags, baggallini, Crocs messenger, other messenger bags, only to switch back to my cheap $3.00 backpack by the second or third day. I find it more convenient and comfortable with my backpack.

I purchased an insulated backpack lunch bag from Target. It is small with padded straps. You would be surprised how much I can pack in it. Ziploc bags are my friends. In the bottom of the bag I put a gallon size bag with anything that needs to stay dry then I put in bags with small snacks. (tickets, money, granola bars, fruit snack, water flavoring packets, etc.) I freeze a water bottle the night before and use it to keep the bag cool. I can fit 2 other water bottles or a couple of juice boxes. The bag has zipper pockets on the side and front. I put my small digital camera in a bag and in the pocket. My DH carries one, also. DH and DS usually go their own way to the bigger rides. My DD and I do "kid stuff". We meet up for meals and character meet and greets. It works for us. Check out the Target for a bag. I found it in the camping/cooler/lunch box section near the toys in my store.

My kids are older now but, I still carry a light weight Jansport backpack (we have used it for at least 5 years). When my DD13 was a baby we used a traditional diaper bag (a big one from Lands End) but, we learned quickly that a backpack worked better because it was hands free.

When the kids were little we carried:
-Diapers
-wipes
-snacks
-baby tylenol
-change of clothes
-lightweight jacket (even the A.C. inside can be too much for little ones)
-sm.first aid kit
-camera
-large ziploc bags(for dirty/wet clothes or explosive diapers)
-bibs
-beach towel(perfect for covering the carriage when they are napping)
-sunscreen
-ponchos
-sippy cup/ bottle

Now that they are older:

-Camera
-antibacterial wipes (kids still get sticky hands etc.)
-sunscreen
-lightweight jackets or sweatshirt(depends on time of year)
-sm. first aid kit
-snacks (granola bars, cheeze its etc.)
-ponchos(cheap disposable ones from the dollar store)

thanks. I really like the idea of an insulated one. We will probably have our huge graco duo , so carrying less would be great.

We just got home from 9 days at WDW, and I definitely vote for a backpack! Each day, for the four of us, I carried:
-sunscreen
-mini 1st aid kit
-lip stuff
-purell
-tickets
-water
-capri sun juice packs
-hats
-discarded sweatshirts

I brought along the kids soft-sided lunch bags for the water and juice. They squash down to nothing once we drink the beverages!

We travel light, and on half days in the parks, I got away with only carrying a pocket book.

Have fun!

DW insistis on carrying a backpack to parks, even though our children have long since outgrown diapers. So,in the backpack, I lug:
a change of clothes (in water resistant pack) for two children,
ponchos,
snacks,
water bottles,
wet wipes,
sun screen,
kleenex (or napkins)

I vote for the camera, tickets, money, and nothing else. Of course, I am in the minority here.

We have a Baby Gap backpack - it's black and looks like a regular backpack, but it has lots of pockets. DD is almost 6 but we can't get rid of the backpack, it's light, comfortable, and just too useful. I've bought one for 2 other girlfriends and loaned mine out (but then quickly begged to get it back).

Inside it we have:
water
sunscreen
tylenol & benedryl (just a few capsules of each)
bandaids & polysporin
some wipes & kleenex (in a ziploc bag)
bathing suit for DD (in a ziploc bag)
emergency pullup for DD
camera

Yes, we definately need a backpack. I will
probably wear in most of the time. DH w/ be wearing our youngest DD. We will have a bag on the bottom of stroller w/extras (diapers/water/sunscreen/clothes) Then I will probably pack the rest in the bag:
a few diapers for each
throw away changing pads
wipes
water bottle nozzles for oldest DD:eliminating her cup
bottle for youngest dd
mini 1st aid (thanks for that)
A few baggies of different snacks for DD
pb sandwich ? maybe
camera/camcorder
tickets
ponchos
phone (don't really need that)
money (dh will have)
water

wow is that all??? I usually carry a huge bag around for an outing. Guess I carry too much.

I'm not sure if I want to get a sling or a two strap backpack. Probably get what I can find. I did see the turismo insulated backpack on Targets website. I don't know I guess I have to get out to see what will work the best. hard to judge size on a computer.

thanks

I wouldn't recommend a sling backpack. After 10 days with a sling backpack last time we were there and rotating the person carrying the bag I will never EVER bring one to Disney again. My shoulder hurt so much that I almost just left that dang thing in the room and said forget it. When we go this June I will have a two strap backpack with:

mini first aid
benadryll and tylenol
change of clothes for both kids( in case of accident) the youngest spills stuff alot
camera/ camcorder
snacks
money/ keys
sunscreen
wet wipes

We definitely do a backpack..thanks to a wonderful Mom I got to upgrade this year to a Vera Backpack which I am super excited about using!!

In our bag we normally pack:

change of clothes
several zip lock bags that are empty in case we need extra storage
wipes
tissues
water bottles
a few types of snacks (really cuts costs of buying park snacks!!)
sippy cup
we will have pull ups and possibly underwear this year ;)
first aid kit
teething tablets
motrin
some type of comfort item for my dd
camera
photopass cards
cell phone

Annnndddd a HUGE must for me is stickers and suckers...when you get stuck in line and have to wait for a while pull a few of each out for munchkins and they are content as can be!

Another tip is to do something to your bag that makes it stand out thus making it more obvious is someone tries to grab it ;).. We did a sign on our bag/stroller the last year we went and this year I am doing streamers on the handle of my bag! hth

oh thanks for reminding me..
we did ribbons before, might try something that stands up
stickers 4 kids a good idea

We have a Lands End backpack that I LOVE. It is a diaper backpack but I know we will use it after we are done with diapers. I also had it embroidered with our last name on it but I will also put some ribbon on the handle as well - thanks all! I pack a ton of stuff so all of the above - AND bubbles. You know those little tubes that go in goody bags??? I got a few packets at Party City for super cheap and use that to amuse DD (2 in March for our trip). Found that tip online here.....and maybe help some of the kids around us too!

Also, I vote for an extra change of clothes as well. DD was 18 months last time we went and our FIRST TS meal, she dumped her water ALL over! Thankfully I brought and extra onsie (it was Sept) and changed her. She wore that for the rest of the afternoon, otherwise it would be another trek back to the hotel or buy a $30 onsie at the store.

Camera, video camera (no extra batteries since they are fully charged by morning).

Zip lock bags for cameras.

Depending on age of kid, one chage of clothing (we go back to our room mid day), also diapers depending on age.

I carry wipes in a zip lock bag.

A few snacks & water for each kid.

Sunscreen, hats if the kids get tired of wearing them but I try to keep them on them. A wash cloth as a just in case I need to wet it to cool the kids.

A cooler with an epipen & depending on where we are going, lunch/dinner for my ds (dairy, peanut, treenut allergic).

Smaller zip lock bags for left overs (yes my kids don't always eat everything so depending on what it is, I will bring it back to the room (again I have that cooler with ice) & they will have it for dinner/lunch the next day.

My bag is nothing great, just a bag but I will need to get a good one for my next trip since we will be strollerless for the first time.

We started out with a medium-sized diaper bag and it was too cumbersome with two kids and two single strollers on our trip last Feb. I bought a medium-sized backpack at the resort store to hold diapers, travel wipes, sanitizer, meds, band-aids, powder, extra clothes, etc. I also bought a small shoulder bag with credit card slots in front to carry my wallet items, tickets, lipstick, lotion, etc. that would be in my purse normally. We returned for naps mid-day, so we only needed 4-6 diapers total per outing for our two kids.
