Mom's At It Again! ***Updated 4/30/2009~Trip Report Link**

YAY!! :cool1: So we are fully paid and ready to begin the countdown chain! This year instead of a plain chain, I made a Disney Trivia chain! I found trivia questions about everything Disney and wrote one question on each link. (I tried to find questions about the movies, the parks, and especially the rides/attractions we would be enjoying.) Each night, one of the boys takes off a link and reads the question. I have an answer key so I didn't forget any of the right answers! They started last night with Link #45. The first few weeks it always seems like the chain is not getting shorter...then all of a sudden, you look and you only have a few left! So fun! :cool1: I put the chain up while the boys were in school yesterday and they were so excited to see it when they got home! It means the trip is VERY close! Here are a few pics of the finished product.

As far as other planning goes...here is what I have accomplished most recently.

To-Do List Updates

I made arrangements for Daisy (our black Lab). My nephew and his fiancee are going to stay here at the house and take care of her. :thumbsup2

I've completed Touring Plans for 3 of our 7 park days. Still have to do our 2 Epcot days and our DHS day. (the 7th is up in the air so it will just be a revisit...no touring plan necessary!)

The Disney Box

I have added 3 packages of glow sticks to the box. I got them at Michael's in the $1 bin....15 glow sticks per package. And they are in cool tubes so I won't need to worry about packing them!

I also added my LGMH and two more small containers of bubbles.

A snag!

We had pretty much been counting on the fact that Jeff's parents could take us to the airport on the 19th. It will be early as our flight leaves at 7:10 am and the airport is an hour away. MIL even called for a double check of the date so she could put it on her calendar. WELL.....they are now planning to head out of town on the 14th so we will need to find alternate transportation. GGRRR! So now I have to add to the To-Do list instead of checking off! I hate that!

:offtopic: :offtopic:

Completely off-topic and unrelated to anything remotely Disney....I wanted to say how proud I am of my DS14. We went last night to see him perform in the Jr High production of Guys and Dolls and he was GREAT! He didn't have a major part or anything, but he worked really hard and the show was outstanding! Watching him up there just made me swell with pride! He is so much braver than I ever was and I applaud his ability to do what he did! I feel like things like musicals, etc go a really long way in teaching him about self-confidence and the benefits of hard work. So cheers for Dan! :cheer2:

I guess that's it for now. I will post more touring plans as I finish them. Thanks for reading!

I love the chain idea. I hope you don't mind if I steal the idea. My girls are a little older than your boys, but I think they will like it anyway.

Thanks again,

I LOVE your countdown link!!! So much fun! :goodvibes

Sorry to hear you have to figure some other way to get to the airport. Hope it works out smoothly for you.

That's awesome about your son doing theater! My brothers both did it and I went to a lot of plays growing up. I loved it! I really miss going to the theater. I think it's a great activity for kids to get involved in. :thumbsup2

I love your countdown chain!! We usually do that too. Ever since we counted down the days until Christmas with a paper garland a few years ago that's what the kids want to do whenever we are counting down anything.

I'm going to make one and have it part of our surprise. I love how you made it Disney themed... I'll have to steal that idea for our links. ;)

I've checked over some of your posts, and I can't find an answer to a question that I have. What kind of bag to do you take to the parks?

I have worn a fanny pack, yes I know.:rotfl2: I was even able to get the girls to wear one too so that we could carry everything that I wanted. Well, it looks like they don't want to participate this year in being pack mules. I mean who could blame them??

So,if I want to take everything that I usually take, I'm going to have to do something else. Any suggestions??

I love your countdown chain! I've been debating one of those or the calendar made up of Mickey Heads for the kids at my mom's daycare to help her count down! Your chain may have just helped me make my decision, though. So cute!

Yay for DS14! I love musicals; I'm sure you were so proud of him!!

Pocahontas, Rafiki and Epcot are my guesses;)

Hey, I just added AIE to my tour plans on Thursday at the studios. If I make it you have to come and watch:rolleyes1

Hey! 2 out of 3 isn't bad! :thumbsup2 Actually Animal Kingdom is the largest Disney Theme Park in the world with 500 acres compared to Epcot's 300 acres!

Believe it or not Thursday the 23rd is our DHS day as well and we are doing Rope Drop. Maybe we'll catch each other on the bus! And AI wasn't really on our to-do list, but maybe we'll have to change that! If you get famous I may be able to say I was there at the beginning.

This is an update which is actually an answer to a question by planningfanaticmom. Hope this helps!

Let's start off by saying I AM A BAG GIRL! I love a new bag...no matter the reason! If it's a new season, I get a new bag. A new trip, a new bag. There is ALWAYS a good reason to get a new bag! My boys would beg to differ and often steer me away from the bags (and shoes, but that's a different story) in the store.

That being said, I got a new bag for our last trip to Disney. I purchased a Tinkerbell messenger bag on Ebay. It was perfect and I used it EVERY day. I tend to be a minimalist when it comes to taking things into the parks so I don't need a big bag. This one allowed me to keep my hands free and it held all the necessities. Here's a pic!

tinkbag-1.jpg

Another good thing to know is that I can be frugal...a nice way to say cheap! After purchasing Tink, I had read on these boards about a wonder called the baggallini.....oh how I wanted one, but alas, I had already purchased a bag. So....no baggallini for me on that trip. BUT.....when DH and I decided to go to Las Vegas last spring I was on that website so fast! I got my baggallini at last and I have to say I LOVE IT! I wore it all over Vegas and I even used it all summer as my purse of choice. It is lightweight, has several pockets, and also allows my hands to be free. Here are a couple pics of me and my baggallini in Vegas!

CaesarsPalace-1.jpg

Me and my good friend Caesar at Caesar's Palace!

I fully intend to take the baggallini along on this Disney trip. However....being that it's a new trip... I think I need a new bag! Wouldn't you agree??? So..thanks to my good DISfriend Carissa, I will be purchasing the Vera Bradley Hipster to take along on this trip. The baggallini will also go...I think it will be a great bag for the parks.

So..to answer your question planningfanaticmom, I took a Tink messenger bag on my last trip, but plan to take my Baggallini messenger as well as a Vera Bradley hipster on this trip. (Variety is always good!)

Here is a list of the things that I will take into the parks:

*blister bandaids
*sunscreen
*cell phone
*autograph books
*park maps
*index card with touring plan
*photo ID
*small snacks--fruit snacks, slim jims, etc

I think that is all I pack in my bag. Each boy has a lanyard and we all carry our own sunglasses, park tickets, the boys have bubbles, and we take a water bottle in the AM and pitch it when we are finished.

I hope this was helpful! I am getting so excited...only 41 more days!!

Oh wow, I love your countdown chain. And the trivia questions are so original that's great.

Thanks everyone! The boys are really enjoying the questions! :yay:

My SIL has agreed to take us to the airport so that problem is solved!

And I love to go watch the plays too, so I'm glad he enjoys doing them! My middle son has already told me that "musicals are not his thing". LOL!

You're getting a hipster! :cool1: :cool1: The other day my neighbor stopped me and asked if my bag was a Vera Bradley (I've been using it ever since I got it - love it!). She said she'd been eyeing them at the store, but they're so expensive. So I told her how I got mine at a great price online. I felt so chic having someone recognize my bag. :rotfl:

Great pictures of you! :)

Thank you so much for the answer to my question. I like the pictures. That helps. Maybe Carissa could post a pic of the "Hipster"??? I will also go on-line to check them out. I'm never sure where they will sit on me because I am taller than the average woman.

We are doing the double digit dance today!!! :yay: :dancer: party:

:woohoo:

Just found your PTR. We're gonna be at MK the same night! (April 26th)

Not that I've gotten far enough in MY PTR yet to have that listed but I just had to share.

Ok, I'm going back to read the rest of your report. :)

I can't believe there is another hipster! :rotfl:

I think the hipster is the bagallini of 2009! I got one a couple months ago & I love it! Can't wait to take it to the parks.

I hope this was helpful! I am getting so excited...only 41 more days!!

At this very moment--it is now 40 days:woohoo:

However, all this handbag talk makes me feel less than manly--I should talk about gun racks, football, huntin', and fishin' in my next post:laughing:

I'm glad your son did Guys and Dolls. I got to be Nathan Detroit my senior year of high school.:mic:

I love a good bargain and you can't beat that price, even with the shipping. I haven't ordered it yet, but I'll post pics when I get it! Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

Yeah....I think I am the next link in the "six degrees of Vera Bradley"' on the DIS! Now I just have to pass it on! :rotfl:

All I can think about is that noise Tim Allen makes when he does "manly" things. Think you can manage to type that into your report!!

I'm glad your son did Guys and Dolls. I got to be Nathan Detroit my senior year of high school.:mic:

Awesome....:thumbsup2 !

The strap is adjustable so I think it would work just fine for you. :thumbsup2

Ok I'm all caught up now! :)

First, even though I'm way behind on this, I HAVE to comment on Innoventions. I saw that you're not really planning on doing this when you visit Epcot and I truly believe in "to each their own"...but I LOVE Innoventions. (or at least I have in the past) Growing up it was always my brothers' and my favorite! All sorts of cool gadgets to play with and fun stuff like that. It's always easy to wander through and do the things that look interesting and skip the ones that aren't.

Second, I have done MK EMHs before. I know that EMHs seem to be pretty debated here...but most of the times I've gone the EMHs are worth it. Especially since the park hours are restricted a bit more than usual this time of year. We're doing MK that night specifically BECAUSE they have EMHs and the parks are closing so early during the week! It's the only night we'll get to stay there late. The only time that I've been at WDW when EMHs are a joke is at Christmas time. But whoo! Talk about CROWDS! :scared1: Doesn't matter WHAT time of day! :rotfl:

Anyway, like I said, I'm caught up and looking forward to more. It's fun to see what your plans are since we're going so close to the same time!
