"Mommy! Dey heads is fweaky!" 8 (otherwise) wonderful days in March 2011

so cute! we're definitely doing BBB next time we go! my older DD got pixie dust this past trip and she loved it... pretty sure she'll still have some on her scalp next time we go in 2013 :lmao:
Watching her do it and the look on her face when it was done was just priceless. :goodvibes but yes, I think you're absolutely right about the pixie dust!! :rotfl:

I'm sure he was definitely less than thrilled. As my dad used to say, he had a baseball bat and will beat the boys off me if that's what he takes. :rotfl: Maybe when she's 13, you get him a Louisville Slugger? :lmao: All joking aside, thanks for the info! I'm going to research that camera right now
Yes, a Louisville Slugger will be Daddy's present on Eliza's 13th bday! :rotfl: Happy camera shopping! My only regret is not having it when my kids were littler!

Eliza's biggest must-do for this trip was meeting Princess Tiana. I can't count the number of Tiana dolls we have, the number of times we've watched the movie and listened to the soundtrack (which IS pretty catchy) And here it was, our last day, and we hadn't met her yet. Yikes! :) Benjamin think Naveen is pretty cool too. ;) So after the big makeover, there was only one place to head.
IMG_2433.jpg

We got over there and there were ony about 3-4 other families in line. Tiana and Naveen weren't out but a CM said they would be shortly so we got in line. I got in the backpack to get out the kids autograph books...and they weren't in there. Crap! I realized I had taken them out to repack and hadn't put them back in. I made a quick run to the Christmas shop and got one. (We had Tiana and Naveen sign 2 pages and then at home I cut those pages out and glued them into their original books )

And then they came out and soon it was our turn! Tiana appropriately ooohed and ahhhhed over Eliza's Tiana dress and BBB make over and E was THRILLED.

Between that meeting and BBB, Eliza was walking on air. :cloud9: After that we were all hungry and decided to get lunch and leave a little earlier than we had been, but we knew we'd be in the parks late that night, so we wanted to get out and be able to get back in with plenty of time for the night. We went over to Pinnochio's Village Haus to eat and got there right over they opened so we were able to get one of the cool tables overlooking "it's a small world". After we ate, Buddy ran over and got FP for BTMR for the evening. Then we left.

We caught a wedding!! Eliza and I just sighed. :)
IMG_2498.jpg

And I have to share this picture just to illustrate what a prim and proper little lady Eliza is. Note the foot sticking way out the side of the stroller and the fact that she's wearing a dress. :lmao:
IMG_2499.jpg

It looks like Eliza might've said something to cause Tiana tolaugh. How cute.
I love how unlady like our little girls can be at times. It's so funny. They think they are all prim and propper and sit with legs wide open of doing cartwheels, etc.
It sounds like this was a very magical day for Eliza.

So true! E loves skirts and dresses and thank goodness for the ones with shorts attached. ;)

Wow! What a special day for Eliza! I never would have thought of having them sign twice and glueing. Great thought!

Seeing Tiana and Naveen are still on our to do list. Anakin loves the princesses, which is suprising. I asked him why, and he says because they are so pretty.

That's great that you got seats by the windows at Pinochio Haus!

Whew! This summer has been busy and I just may finally finish up this TR, believe it or not! Soccer is done, dance and recital are done, Eliza's birthday and party have come and gone and things just might relax for a little bit. :)

So, we left the MK and headed back to ASMo for a break. The kids napped as usual and I spent most of the time starting to pack up our stuff and get things ready to leave the next day. UGH, I don't have to tell anyone how much this part of the trip SUCKS!

Kids were up and we were back in the MK by about 3:30. We took the ferry over to the MK. I swear I could just spend the whole day riding it and be perfectly happy. :rotfl:

IMG_2522.jpg

The kids wanted to do the Swiss Family Treehouse, so we headed over there first.
IMG_2529.jpg

IMG_2526.jpg

(I wasn't kidding about princesses loving their AquaNet! Check out Eliza's hair after a 2 hour nap - I swear it didn't budge!)

Next we walked over to do Tom Sawyer Island - 5 trips and I've never been over there and darn it, we were going to this time! The kids, especially Benjamin, LOVED it and we spent a little over an hour here. It was pretty cute and I think Benjamin could have stayed longer for sure. They both thought seeing BTMR was pretty neat.

After the island, we were all getting a little hungry - it was dinnertime and we could have easily done dinner. But heck, it was our last day and I decided to shock the kids. I asked them if they wanted ice cream now and dinner later. :) Benjamin said, "Now?? Before dinner??? YES!" :goodvibes So frozen treats (and popcorn) it was!
IMG_2600.jpg

IMG_2599.jpg

We decided to see what the Haunted Mansion line looked like because we (almost) all wanted one more ride. (Benjamin was less than enthused but said he'd do another ride if he could sit with Daddy's arm around him :goodvibes) The sign said 30 minutes but we could tell the line didn't look nearly that long, so we jumped in - glad it did, it was only about 15 minutes before we were on.

Benjamin needed a time out after the HM. :)
IMG_2615.jpg

After that we decided to stake out a good spot for the first MSEP of the night. We did so and Buddy and I took turns taking Eliza on BTMRR with the fastpasses we had grabbed earlier that day - we got 4 so we could each take her on and she'd get 2 more rides. Benjamin waited with my mom and amused himself with glowsticks.
IMG_2621.jpg

After our BTMR rides, we still had about 20 minutes to kill before the MSEP. We snacked on some snacks I had in the bag and soon the lights dimmed and it was about to begin.

I think I've only ever seen Spectromagic and wow, did I love MSEP!! I always loved Spectro. too but found I loved MSEP even more. I had a great time taking pics of it too.

After the parade we did some shopping and took another ride on PoTC (no line! Walked right on!).
IMG_2729.jpg

Then Momma enjoyed a Pineapple Float Dole whip - and I can't say I was disappointed that both kids tried it and turned their noses up. :) No sharing! :)

The kids (and Buddy) were definitely in need of some real food by then, so we decided to head over to Tomorrowland and eat at Cosmic Ray's.

It was pretty busy so my mom, Buddy and Benjamin went to get a seat and Eliza and I got in line to order everyone's food. We did so and then went to find them. My mom thought she'd done good getting a table right down in front of Sonny Eclipse....Eliza did not agree. I could tell by the way she was eyeing him that she wasn't diggin' him AT ALL. I positioned myself in front of her, blocking her view of him and thought we could just get through dinner and get out. I was wrong....:rolleyes1

One minute she's eating her chicken and the next she is majorly flipping out about Sonny. Loudly and for all to hear. She was screaming "I don't YIKE him!! I want to get away from him NOW!!" at near hysterical pitch, completely with crazy wide eyes and a little shaking for good measure. I tried for a second to reason with her and explain he was just a robot like all the other AA's but it only took me a second to realize I should save my breath and we were past calming down rationally.

Ok, I'm not winning Mother of the year because I gotta say, it was just slightly funny. I didn't laugh at her or anything and I know she was truly not liking him but I also know a lot of it was just being completely tired and beat after 8 buys days and late nights. We gathered up our stuff as quickly as we could and retreated to a table in the very back, as far from poor Sonny as we could possibly get and still be in the building. She didn't eat much more and just kept scanning the room for Sonny. She'd calm down and then start up again. Oh Eliza, you keep life interesting.

By the time the rest of us were done eating, she was calm. Buddy and I debated doing Space Mountain b/c there was only about a 15 min. wait but decided that we were probably too old to eat a meal and then hit up SM right afterward. Sad.

We did enjoy a ride on the TTA, another thing I've managed to miss in 5 trips. That was a really nice way to end the day. I think another trip or 2 around and both kids would have been out cold - those little eyes were definitely glazing over. I was very thankful for the stroller on the way out!

IMG_2756-1.jpg

Eliza was asleep by the time we got outside the gates. We had promised Benjamin that since we had taken the ferry over, we could take the monorail back. No way was I waking Eliza up and then having to deal with her and the folded stroller on the monorail, so Buddy took Benjamin for his final monorail ride of the trip and my mom and I took Eliza on the ferry. There was some mechanical issue with one of the ferries and we ended up having to wait for almost a half hour. I was really wishing I was the one asleep in the stroller.

IMG_2768-1.jpg

It had been a fabulous trip but Buddy and I are both in total agreement that we won't go in early March again. Weather was WAY too chilly and the parks were the most crowded I'd seen them. I knew with a late Easter and varied spring breaks that there was the potential for that, but was hoping that going 6+ weeks before Easter, we could avoid it. And I knew the weather might be iffy too, early March just ended up working best for all our school and work schedules. I was really annoyed at the Weather Channel online though - the forecasts up until the night before we left were for low 80's pretty much the whole time. That 10 day forecast ranged from about 78-82 and I'd be hard pressed to think of more than 1 or 2 afternoons when it actually got to 82. So I realize some of my annoyance could have been alleviated if I had realized that I should have brought more long pants and long sleeves for Buddy and I. I couldn't complain too much, if was certainly better than Ohio, but just not what we personally want when we do Disney!

And that's it for our March 2011 trip. Sigh. I've been in a major Disney funk the past week or so...show of hands, how pathetic would I be doing a TR of our 09 trip to extend the re-living??? :rolleyes1

That's great that you got seats by the windows at Pinochio Haus!

I'm still annoyed that I forgot them and shelled out another $7 for a 3rd autograph book. But hey, it worked!

Anakin knows where it's at!! Benjamin certainly was more interested in the princesses at age 6 than he was at 4! :rotfl:

Glad you have a break from soccer and dance. Happy be-lated birthday to Eliza!

Packing and unpacking are such a bear, especially the unpacking!! I am on my 5th load of laundry and I even did laundry twice on vacation and still have all the suitcases to unpack.

I bet you were winning the Mother of the Year award with Eliza for the treats before supper! Too bad grandma blew it for you with Sonny Eclipse, lol.

I like the ferry ride too. Once we had characters on our ferry when we left the park before lunch!! That was cool!

Did the kids like the Treehouse? Grumpy never liked it, but I've always loved it. Anakin has never done it. He could do it now, but he would really hold up people with as slow as he does steps, especially down steps.

Great hold, Aquanet!

It's been years since we went to Tom Sawyer Island. I'm glad Benjamin liked it! Do they still have the airguns in the forts? Grumpy use to love to play with them. But most of the time he would play checkers. When we were on vacation I always felt it was a waste of time to play checkers. He thought it was great when we moved here and I would let him play checkers any time at Disney on Main St. or Tom Sawyer Island.

It's amuzing that Eliza can handle the HM, but not Sonny. Although his head is pretty big and more fweaky than the other characters, lol.

Your pictures of the parade are great! I was sad each time that MSEP and Spectromagic has gone.

You can take stroller unfolded on the monorail! You didn't have to take the ferry. It's only the buses, trams, and sometimes the smaller water craft that make you fold the strollers.

How sad that your TR is over. Your report has been great! I've enjoyed reliving the Disney magic with you. I'd be happy to read your '09 TR if you decide to write one!

I'll read your 09 one too!~ I posted my 09 TR on a themepark board right before we left this year. It hd been written up and posted here, but I was trying to get my thoughts together, so I posted it there and reread it. LOL!

I really enjoyed your rpeort and thank you so much for sharing. I think you all had a fabulous time and of course you have some really cute kids!!!

Ok, you guys have twisted my arm! :lmao: I think I may just have to start pulling together an 09 one - I think that trip will forever be my favorite. It was the kids first trips, we had 2 full weeks (including drive time) and it was just the most awesome trip. The thought of getting to go through all those pictures and write it up makes me quite happy - though I'll have to take frequent breaks to sob at how little my babies were in those pics!! I don't know why, but the post-Disney funk returned this past week BAD! :( I find myself pricing imaginary trips, which I NEVER do...if it weren't for either the time involved driving or the expense involved flying, we could so be there more often. :(

The kids were a little ho-hum about the treehouse once we were up there - I think the actual walking up appealed to them more than the actual checking out the rooms. :)

I honestly don't remember if the airguns are there or not...they very well could be and I just didn't see them. I thought it was a really cute area - and more stuff to look at than I was expecting. Both of them really liked the twisty "cave" that you can go in to see the jewels.

Yeah, Eliza always surprises me with the things that scare her - the Haunted Mansion movie was on TV this weekend and I was watching a little of it. Benjamin left the room because it was too scary for him and Eliza sat there and cracked up. But man...Sonny did her in!! She usually the one telling Benjamin, "Ben, it's just a wobot!!" :rotfl:

How did I not realize I could have left the stroller unfolded on the monorail??? We have always folded it b/c I guess we just assumed we had to...although why I thought it was ok to leave on the ferry and not the monorail, I don't know! Oh well, the boys actually had quite a line for the monorail so even with the delay we had waiting for the ferry, they only beat us to the TTC by about 5-10 minutes.

I have fallen hopelessly behind on yours again, Jen!! I'm about to go catch up at least a few pages while the kids are eating breakfast and watching TV.

48 days in your ticker!! :cool1:

DS, Benjamin: 6 years old, in kindergarten. Lover of Legos and trucks, especially monster trucks. QUOTE]

DS has the exact same shirt! He's also 6 and just finished up K, and also LOVES LEGOS!

Just found the thread, and have to go back and read everything.

Edit - i grabbed the wrong picture! LOL I'm still new at this thing! I meant to grab the photo of your little one. OOPS!

I just read your ENTIRE TR and your family is adorable! Eliza meeting Tiana brought tears to my eyes!

I too am originally from NE Ohio (Wooster, if that means anything to you) and was ALSO in Disney in March of this year. While reading your TR I even sincerely thought I even saw you in the parks. I have your DH's Toy Story shirt (green aliens saying "oooo" from Target?) and was wearing it one evening in MK when I passed a man wearing the exact same shirt! I though could it be? Did I run into you? But alas, no. I checked your dates again and I was there the week AFTER you left :( But still, how serendipitous ;)

Thanks for sharing Eliza's trip to BBB and meeting Tiana. It really brought me a morning smile. :)

And you're doing great with your Canon XS! I bought my first DSLR before our first trip to the MK with Katie at age 4. I'm so glad I did. Keep at it. You took some great shots!

Getting the DSLR at that time was a no-brainer for me even though that 6MP Rebel was right around $1000. With what I was spending on film and developing, it paid for itself in no time. It's amazing to see what has happened to the price of DSLR's since then.

I'd LOVE to flash back in time and read your 09 TR!

We ate and checked out the alligator for awhile.
AK17.jpg

OK. Lets see if I grabbed the right photo this time. This is the one my DS has, and looking further, even has the same shorts.

We visited FLA a week later than you, and what a difference a week makes. We arrived on March 18th, and departed on the 25th. Every day was sunny and 85. We visited a couple of parks, the beach, and just hung by the pool.

(We don't stay at WDW. The parentals own a timeshare just up the road.)

I also love Margaritaville. DS loves watching the volcano blow. Their nachos are the best, as are the little parrot head masks they give the kids to wear.

Loving the report! DD looked like a true princess after her visit and I'm wishing now we would've scheduled a pirate makeover for my guy.
