Hello and :welcome: to my trip report! This will be my first trippie. We are staying at our favorite resort again this year courtesy of the really good code from October 3-11th, 8 glorious nights at the Poly. My kids want to sell our house and live there, hence the name of my report. We had a wonderful stay there last year and soon as I got home I was crunching numbers to see when we would be able to go back. Here is the worst part, we are driving :scared: . It takes 10 hours from Knoxville. Which is were we live now even though we are from the Jersey Shore. Which we always flew when we lived there since it's so far. Also my trip will be overlapping with my brother and his family. Let's just say they don't believe in touring plans. We will only spend a little bit of time together since we are staying at different resorts and my brother can be a complete butthead sometimes. Our favorite resort!!

Now meet the characters...

I'm Nichole :tinker: , and I love taking my kids to Disney and spend way tooo much on the DIS. I'm a SAHM of 2 that is never home since all I do is run kids everywhere. I love all kinds of travel but right now I'm hooked on Disney. I love all the planning and my own family makes fun of me but their so happy when they get to do all the best things at Disney and don't wait in lines. My first trip was when I was 6 and those are some funny pics let me tell ya. My favorite character is Tink. Hoping to try the Disney cruise next year if it's in the budget. This will be my 6th trip to Disney.

Tom pirate:, My husband for over 8 years likes Disney but mostly tolerates it for us. He never went as a child and his first trip was in 2002 with DD and I. He would rather relax more instead of getting up so early and running to Dumbo or Soarin  He says Disney is too much work. He lets me do all the planning because he is really not interested. Great, more fun for me. The Disney character he is much like is Grumpy. But he is and awesome dad!

Here is Tom and I..at Poly last Fall.

DD princess: Kaylee, is 7 yrs. old and in second grade. She loves Disney just like mom. She has the best heart ever but she can be a spoiled too. Kaylee loves American girl dolls. She is a dancer and has taken Ballet, Tap and Jazz since she was 2.5. Her favorite characters are the Princesses, Tink & Minnie. But she is much more into Hannah Montana and HSM now. I'm so sad she is growing up. This will be Kaylee's 4th trip to Disney.

DS ::MickeyMo Thomas, is 3 yrs. old and loves Disney the most!! He is easygoing but he can get very grouchy and stubborn when he is tired. He loves Cars, Einsteins & Mickey of course. His favorite rides are Dumbo , Peter Pan and the Teacups . He thinks Alice is his girlfriend since she kissed him last year, . This will be Thomas 2nd trip to Disney.

Let's just say we had a little bit of a rough year and were really looking forward to this trip. Nothing major just some health scares for me (hypothyroid) and other things. I planned it for over 8 months and even joined TGM. Made my ADR's right at 180 days too. Our Anniversary happened to fall right before the trip too, so I planned a small surprise for DH. Everyday I read DIS and TGM and many of your trip reports to get ready for our trip. Anyway our trip was awesome and I'm really missing Disney right now. So what better way to deal with Disney depression then to share our trip... I will have a ton of pics and just ordered the photopass CD too.

:thumbsup2 Great start, look forward to reading more. I am hoping to stay at the Poly one day! :cloud9:

Great start! All of the pre trip reports that I'm reading are leaving so I'm lookiing to start reading actual trip reports! The Poly looks beautiful and it's on my list! I'm ready to hear about your trip! (And I've got to learn about these codes people keep using!)

I'm excited to hear all about your trip!! Where
did you live in south jersey? We used to own a
place in briganitne,nj. :)

You will love the Poly. As far as codes, the begining of the year one came that alot of people were able to use if you purchased a package deal for hotel & tickets. We got and email for this code with a Number. Check the codes & rates board and join for whatever month you were thinking of going sometimes you can even apply a code to your existing reservation.

We lived in Brick NJ before we moved here to TN. It's central Jersey near the beach. We miss the beach alot.

First of all what a beautiful family!

Glad your health is doing better.

I have 2 older brothers, both can be buttheads too:rolleyes1

My family has a house in Brick, off the Bay not far from the Mantoloking Bridge.

Do you know where the Red Lion is, if you do, the house is about 5 minutes from that.

Looking forward to more.popcorn::

Yes I know exactly where Red Lion is, too funny! We miss NJ alot, espcially the people and the beach. We have only been here 2 years but are getting homesick. Tom misses going to Giants Stadium to see the Jets. But he will going to see them here in TN December 23rd. I have to show you our house on Sunday :rotfl2: ,this is my Husbands doing as I'm not a big sports fan. The neighbors think were nuts.

What a beautiful family you have. I am jealous of your stay at the Poly, one day I will stay there!

Tuesday, October 2nd
Finally it was our departure day  . But Tom had to go to work until late afternoon and Kaylee had :teacher: school. She would be missing 3 days as it is and then the following week she has fall break, so not missing much school. Anyway I had to finish packing and drop our 2 dogs (Shih Tzu's) off at Grandma's for the week. Also had to check the:surfweb: DIS. After that I went to get Kaylee from school and we loaded the minivan :guilty: (yes I drive one of those) so that when Tom gets home we are outta here. :car:

I decided to book a hotel for past the halfway point so we could check into Poly by lunch tomorrow. So I picked Valdosta GA to stop overnight at a new Holiday Inn. I'm too scared to stay in a cheapie hotel after one too many trip reports were people woke up with bug bites :scared: . I'm one of those who takes the beds apart and looks for bedbugs:rolleyes1 before luggage even comes to the room.

Here are my little sweeties all set for a long ride to Disney. You will notice throughout my trippie that Thomas makes lots of funny faces  but trust me it's better than him covering his face like he often does or having a meltdown.

We had a pretty uneventfull drive luckily. It was supposed to take 6 hours to get to Valdosta but it took more like 7 since we had some rain and had to stop to feed the kids dinner. We checked in and slept until 7 AM, well at least Tom & the kids slept, I was too excited :yay: to be going to the Poly in the morning. We ate breakfast at the hotel and of course service was slow :headache: and I wished I just gave the kids poptarts to eat in the car since we were only just over 3 hours away. Finally we hit the road and 3 hours later just before lunch we arrived!

Up next popcorn:: Will we get the parking lot view at the Poly?
My kids favorite character meal, Dinner at Chef Mickey's

Thank you for your kind words. You will love the Poly although anywhere in Disney is great. Hoping to be able to stay there again. I'm going to go and check out your trip reports. I have always thought July 4th at Disney would be fun. Was it very :crowded: crowded?

What great pictures of your family. I can't wait to hear more about your trip. We already have our trip planned for next year and we leave on October 3rd through 12th, BeachClub, which is the exact time your family was there. I've wanted to stay at the Poly, but we just love the Epcot area. I'm looking forward to seeing your pictures and finding out about the Crowds, which I'm sure were non existant.. We just got back from our 2nd trip, we called our anniversay trip. This trip was just my DH and I. We left Texas on September 12th thru September 18th and the crowds then were non existant, but still there were a few people. If you would like you can check out my trip report, lots of pictures. http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1596478
Looking forward to seeing more of your tirp.

Wow that anniversary trp sounds really nice. I'm finally ready to leave the kids home while we take a short trip by oursleves. Anyway I want to stay at Beach or Yacht next year. I have only stayed in the MK area and there Stormalong bay looks really fun for the kids. It was actually pretty busy when we went. So many schools have fall break and lots of others jsut took their kids out of school since they had Columbus day off anyway. We did not get too much done this trip compared with September 2006 and November 02. I think Columbus day is later next year so you might be fine. I will definately be over to check out your trip report.

Wow - your TR looks great so far. As I am planning on the Poly for our next trip I will be eagerly following along.

Can't wait for the next installment!

We followed Tour Guide Mike's advise on what parks to go to and arrived early. You wouldn't have known it was a holiday week. The only day we noticed the crowds was when we spent the evening in the MK on the 3rd for the special holiday fireworks and even then we had a great spot so we were not part of the crowd packed like sardines on main street.:thumbsup2 I would go again that time of year, no hesitation.

I am just like you. No cheapo hotels for me. I am afraid of the bugs and other "creatures" one might encounter.

My brothers make faces for the camera as well. They have no excuse though, they are 18 and 21!:lmao:

I would not have been able to sleep either with Disney being so close.

Can't wait for the next update!popcorn::

You will love the Poly, it is a gorgeous resort and being on the monorail is so convenient. Our stay wasn't perfect but it's still my favorite resort. Have fun planning!

I use TGM too with a bit of my own touring plans mixed. I print my own itinerary too. I don't really like crowds though, makes me a bit anxious. We have and uncrowded spot for the Wishes too, probably the same spot you watch from.:goodvibes

I pretty much just used TGM for his best days chart and then went from there. I don't like being tied down to a set itinerary once in the park. Of course I use common sense and go to the big attractions first/get fastpass but other than that we just go with the flow.
