Mommy and Jack's 2nd Fall Adventure is canceled!

When I left off, we were getting ready for dinner. We had the early seating because we knew there was no way the late seating would work for Jack. When we got to dining room, we were led to our table. Our dining room was at the rear of the ship, and our table wasn't right on the windows, but right accross so we had a great view!! We also had requested a table all to ourselves.

This creepy pirate came around and took pictures with everyone. He did not seem to enjoy his job.
ry%3D400

I know I had the flat iron steak for dinner. I also know that I didn't take enough food pictures, I kept forgetting! If I find more I will add them in. The steak was good, but I think mine was overdone.

We also bought the professional shot taken of me and Jack this night, I will scan it in later!

I had also preordered a celebration cake for my sister, and they brought it to the table and sang "Happy Graduation" to her!
ry%3D400

The cake was really good.

After dinner we dropped Jack at Camp while we walked around the ship. I took a lot of random pictures...
ry%3D400

Then I picked up Jack and we went back to the rooms to "make" his "Beary Cuddly" Lion.

Towel Animal!

My mom decided to go to bed, and the rest of us went to the welcome show. I wasn't allowed to take pics during the show, but Jack was fascinated with the dancing girls in the bright costumes. Go figure.
The theater:
ry%3D400

We also got a sneak peek at the comedians, who were both funny!
Jack and I left before it was over, we were pretty wiped out, so we went to bed!

Our first day was a sea day. This was nice because we got to relax after all the running around in San Antonio and getting to the cruise. We slept in and then headed to the breakfast buffet.
ry%3D400

After breakfast I took Jack to Camp. Then the rest of us went to lay on deck and read/tan. We also got a drink, a Yellowbird, which was my least favorite drink I had. After a few hours it was time to retrieve Jack (on sea days they close for lunch) and we went to the outdoor buffet for lunch.
My drink:
ry%3D400

We had burgers, chicken strips, fries etc. Then Jack and I went to take a nap.

After, I took Jack to Camp for the afternoon.

Our second night was our formal night, so Katie and I decided to get our hair done at the spa, just for something fun to do etc. I wasn't thrilled with mine, based on the cost, but Katie's was really pretty and almost worth the $50 charge.

Here we are, all dressed up!
ry%3D400

The drink she is holding is the "Kiss on the Lips" drink
ry%3D400

**I am missing picures from this day, I am not sure where they are so I will add them later!**

For formal night I wore my bridesmaids dress. We had our pictures taken by the photographers in the lobby. I don't think we bought any, they really didnt turn out. I picked Jack up and got him dressed, and then we had drinks in the lobby area. I had my first "Kiss on the Lips" which was delicious!!!!

Dinner was fanicer than usual, with lobster etc added to the menu. I know someone has food pictures!! I will find them!

I won't lie, without more pictures, I can't really remember what else we did. I know it was a lazy day, and we went to bed early becuase we had early snorkeling in the morning. I also know we decided to do room service for breakfast so we filled out the forms and hung them on the door.

Great cruise updates, Stephanie!!! I am really enjoying reading about it! :goodvibes

I can't remember if you already wrote this or not, but does it cost extra to leave Jack everyday at the kids club or is it included in the cost of the cruise? You probably mentioned it but my memory isn't great these days! :lmao:

What kinds of things do they do in the kids club? Movies, crafts, etc? Did they provide a lunch/dinner for Jack whenever he was there during your meals? Look at me with all my questions! LOL

I loved the elephant towel animal from your first hotel! I think thats the best towel animal I've ever seen! Very creative!

I've been taking food pictures at random places locally when Luke & I eat breakfast/lunch -- you should see the looks I get!!! Did I tell you about the people talking about me at Target because I was taking pictures there? Not sure what's gotten into me recently but I'll take pics anywhere as long as I'm alone with Luke. If someone else is with us, it makes them feel uncomfortable so I try to control myself! haha!

I can't wait to hear more about the cruise!!!! It sounds like so much fun!

Happy 4th to you & your family!!!

Nope, the babysitting is included except for the after hours, which was pretty cheap. They did all sorts of organized activities with them, and provided food for most meals. In the kids's program information book they told us what they were sering the kids for dinner etc. Jack ate most dinners with us, but the last night he went to the kids place instead and they had pizza from the buffet.

We got really lucky and had towel animals all the time.

I know I took more food pictures but I haven't found them yet. I uploaded the pics from my sister and dad's camera too, so hopefully they are there.

Happy 4th!!

Our first port of call was Grand Turk. Grand Turk is an island in the British West Indies, and as far as I can tell, has a very small town, that without an excursion is basically impossible to access on your own. Carnival recently spent a ton of money rehabing this port though, with a mini-shopping area, complete with Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville, as well as the Flow rider Deluxe, which I believe is a surfing simulator. We had heard this was THE place to go snorkeling so we did!

ry%3D400

Originally we were going to go in pairs, and trade Jack between us. This is because my HORRIBLY MISINFORMED travel agent told me that the kid's Camp was closed while in port. We found out shortly before we left this was not the case, so once we were onboard and verified they were in fact going to be open, we switched our excursions so we could all go together! We decided to stick with the early morning one so we would have time to go to Margaritaville for a beverage after.

We made our way off the ship and took some pictures before joining the massivly large group going snorkeling. We did get a god look at the beach and swim areas, and it all looked really nice.
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

We boarded our boats and got introduced to our staff who handed our snorkeling equipment out, our fins, masks, goggles and floaty jackets. They are like life jackets, but you inflate them yourself by mouth, and can choose how much (or little) to inflate them. They took us out to our first spot, and we jumped off the side.

You have to be really careful of the reefs, because beyond damaging them, if you scratch yourself it's really painful. It took a little getting used to, but after a while, I got the hang of swimming with flippers and everything. We had bought two disposable waterproof cameras to take with.
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

After a while we went back to the boat and headed to the next spot. There were very few fish here, but there was a stingray they had trained or something to come when they call.

My sister never really got the hang of it, and she didn't have a great time, plus the boat ride made her queasy. I liked it, but I really felt like I would prefer snuba (cross between snorkeling and scuba that allows you to swim more freely) or actual scuba diving instead. Having to stay on top pf the water to get air made it hard to take good pics (especially with crappy cameras, but there was no way we were invesiting in a good camera just for this) and it made it hard to get good views.

Also, we didn't see a lot of fish. My parents said when they were snorkeling in Aruba, they saw way more fish. I don't know if it was just an off day, or what, but they weren't impressed. I still enjoyed it, and I am glad we did it, but it would be nice to have seen more fish.

After snorkeing, Katie wasn't feeling well, and we were all looking pretty raggedy so we decided to head back to the ship to rinse off and change before going to Margaritaville, at which point I decided since we were going back to the ship anyways, I would pick up Jack and take him with us.

We all got dressed and headed back onto the island. On our way in we posed for a few pictures for my photo obsessed father.
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Then we headed to Margaritaville which is like Senor Frogs on steroids. We ended up getting some food, which we had vowed we wouldn't do, to go with our beverages!

My mom, sister and I all got drinks in souvenir glasses, and my dad got a local beer. Jack got a smoothie. My drink and Katie's drinks had a test tube type shot of alcohol which we had to mix in ourselves... I didn't really understand it, but at least we knew the liquor was there!

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Right at the end, Jack knocked over his smoothie all over the floor. I felt so bad, but they waiter sent someone over to clean it up, and then brought Jack a new one! He got an extra tip after that!

We did some shopping in the gift shop (I bought a keychain), and took some pictures before heading over to the Ron Jon shop, where I bought a Tshirt and a keychain. Then we headed back to the ship to rest up a bit before dinner.
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

ry%3D400

After a short rest, we took Jack to the kiddie pool while we waited to sail away. There was no one else here, and it was actually very relaxing.
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Once we sailed away, we went back downstairs to shower and change.
Then we all headed to dinner.
ry%3D400

Dinner got really interesting this night! Every night around 7 the waitstaff provided some type of entertainment. I believe this night was the conga line! Jack had fun for a little bit, they whisked him away, but then he freaked out, so I joined him as we danced around before dessert!

The night before I think they just sang to us.

And again, I don't remember what happened next... I believe Jack and I went back to the room and he watched some TV or a movie on his little DVD player... And maybe my parents and sister played cards? We had another early morning ahead of us so I am pretty sure we went to sleep relatively early, the sun had really exhausted us this day.

I am realizing how important note taking is! I guess we were so relaxed, I can't even remember what we did!

Your photo obsessed father sound like my kind of guy! :goodvibes

I love all the pictures. It looks like a great time. Were you happy with the clubs there? I haven't done Carnival ever. I really want to go on anotehr cruise though. I want Disney, but if I can't get Skip to agree to that, then I might look at RCCL right now.
I would like to go somewhere besides the Bahamas though.

/
Jen~ I like the kid's club, but Jack wasn't as huge of a fan of it, more on that later... I liked Carnival as a whole, our ship was older, but the itinerary/cost was perfect. My parents are doing RCCL next fall, and it seems a little nicer, but cost and quality go hand in hand, and Carnival was nice enough for me.

We had Little Mermaid night last night, which was a huge success! I will post an update about it as soon as I get pictures uploaded.

Also I called Disney to see if I have a pin code, and of course I don't... :confused3

I have been completely neglecting my poor PTR (as well as DIS in general)! Nothings has changed much except I added an ADR... I am still considering switching resorts, but now the bus situation is holding me back... I like having a bus just for my resort (Pop) as opposed to sharing (AsMo)...

On the upside, I am now (well, for the past 4 days really) doing the Double Digit Dance!! :cool1:

Also I bought Jack a new Toy Story shirt, and I will soon post Little Mermaid Night update, as well as tomorrow's movie night, Swoed in the Stone!

This week will be full of updates!! I PROMISE :rolleyes1

Thats ok by me. I am so behind on Dis that a little break form a few threads is helping me out.

Looks like a great time on the cruise! I really want to go on one, but it's so much with 5 :sad1:

I am so excited that (tentative) menus have been posted for the kiosks!
The menus at the new kiosks are definite, but the others are showing what they featured last year, but I am thinking it will be the same? That's the way it sounds at least. Pricing isn't posted yet, but that's ok, it's still a starting point! I copy and pasted the menus, and I have chosen one thing from each that I would like to try, which is a bit ambitious, but it helps to narrow things down!!

As you can see, I don't eat much besides beef and chicken and the occasional pork. The real conundrum is there are a lot of adult beverages I would like to try, which would be fine if there was another adult going to share with me. I will have to narrow it down further, because there is no way to drink that much and still function. But at least it's a start!

After 2 weeks, (and another Disney Movie Night) I am finally posting our Little Mermaid Update! This movie was my mom's choice.

For our activity, we went swimming!!

I LOVE Harry Potter. And I have several friends and family members who do too... So naturally we went to the midnight showing last week! Actually we did a double feature, so we saw Part 1 at 9 and then Part 2 at 12. Everyone met at my house, and my sister made Cockroach Clusters, my friend made Treacle Tart, and I made a birthday cake for my sister that closely resembled the one Hagrid brings Harry in the first book (it fell apart, which made it look even more authentic). We also had pizza, which is very un-Potter, but oh well. I also made shirts for everyone:
ry%3D400

It was GREAT. We didn't get home till 3 and I had to get up for work at 6, so the next day was rough, but so worth it. We are going to see it with my parents at an AMC "dine in" theater on Sunday!!

Jealous! I really wanted to see HP at the midnight showing, but it sold out before I was ready to buy the tickets. I have to wait ALL the way til NEXT Friday to see it! Ugh!!

This was a last minute change, we were going to do Jungle Book, but my dad couldn't get it from the library. Of course, this left me to scramble a bit to put this together...

For appetizers, we had Wizard Hats (aka Bugles):
ry%3D400

Jack has learned the joy of eating them off your fingers:
ry%3D400

We also had Magic Beans (Edamame):
ry%3D400

Our activity was decorating goblets:

For dinner we had Wart's Watermelon Wands:
ry%3D400

Merlin's Macaroni Salad:
ry%3D400

Madam Mim's Meat Patties (hamburgers/cheeseburgers)
ry%3D400

And for dessert we were going to have Magical Marshmallow Delight. Here is Jack helping crush graham crackers:
ry%3D400

We had glo sticks (bracelets that I didn't put connecters on) for wands while we watched the movie. Jack got a little creative:
ry%3D400

ry%3D400

Unfortunately, we didn't get to finish the movie because we got the call that my grandmother was inthe ER. Evidently the A/C had gone out in her apartment and when the nurse who brings her medicine every Thursday got there, she was disoriented etc. My parents had to leave to go to the hospital, and didn't get back until about 1 am. Also in the commotion, our dessert burned a bit. It was graham cracker crust under chocolate brownie, topped with marshmallows and chocolate chips. It's supposed to be broiled a few mintues to get golden on top... and it was pretty blackened. it tasted pretty decent though, but I forgot to take a picture. As far as my grandmother is concerned, she was admitted to the hospital, but I think everything is fine and she will probably go home today.

Jealous! I really wanted to see HP at the midnight showing, but it sold out before I was ready to buy the tickets. I have to wait ALL the way til NEXT Friday to see it! Ugh!!

It was great!! It was pretty rough working the next day so I am kinda glad there is nothing I love so much I would see it at 12 again!

I was REALLY bummed because I even had the next day off! I'm still pouting about it

What about the Twilight series? I would totally see those at a midnight showing as well. I'm a dork, I know, lol.

 I hope your grandmother stays okay in this heat! That's not a good thing, and I'm glad her nurse came by!

Anyway, the movie nights look really cute! :yay:
