I'm taking my 11 month old to WDW in may.

I have a graco metrolite, (a full size stroller that reclines and has cupholders), and a maclaren volo (a fancy umbrella stroller).

Which do I take?

I took the graco in december when DS was 6 months.... he was comfortable, but it was hard to get on and off the buses with it. However, I wonder if he'll nap in the volo.

I'm a first time mom, can you tell?:)

If he'll nap in the Maclaren, that's definitely the easier one to take. But, I've always thought that you spend the vast majority of your time walking around, not boarding transportation - so it's more important that he (and you) be comfortable with the stroller you're taking.

Also, you'll get a much better response to this question if you post it on the family boards.

Which ever folds easier and is lighter in weight. As long as it reclines, has storage and a child tray, you are good to go.

Enjoy!

Trust me, after a long day in the parks, he'll be able to sleep ANYWHERE (and so will you):rotfl:

we're talking two volos, but my kids are older (4 and almost 2). neither of them have ever used a stroller before. we got these about 2 months ago and have been using them when we go out to get them used to riding. they both say they are very comfortable and i find there is plenty of room in the little basket underneath. they would never lay back in a reclined stroller, so i'm not concerned that the volo lacks that feature. they seem comfortable enough in them that if they were really tired they could fall asleep anyway. we plan to go back to the room for a few hours each afternoon, so i'm assuming they will not be napping in the strollers.

if you're just taking one baby/one stoller, the larger one would probably be fine if he needs it to be comfortable.

We have a Graco - not sure if it's a metrolite, but it is big and bulky. We actually brought it with us on our last trip with DD1. Yes - it is a big pain to carry it onto the bus, but I knew that DD1 would nap in it comfortably. The bottom also carried any bags and ponchos easily. We did go in the off-season (Feb), so none of our buses were full. It would have been really tough if they were.

Are you planning on eating a lot of CS? We did, and the snack tray on the Graco came in very handy. We could just wipe it down and put her finger foods in there.

I've been quite a few times with babies and would say that for the age of your child, the Graco would probably be best. DS4 uses his Volo for Disney, but will occasionally ask if it can recline like his sister's stroller (Macleran Triumph) so he can rest better. Also a pp mentioned the food tray...HUGE plus, especially at under 1 year...

Yeah, the Graco is a bit big and heavier to get on/off the bus, but how many times a day will you be on the bus with it? I say go with the more comfortable one that you know your baby will/can sleep comfortably in...the last thing you want in "The Happiest Place on Earth" is a crying baby!!

Good luck!

DS is 3 and we still plan to bring our Graco (very similar to your Metrolite in style.) As of today, he's still taking 2-3 hour afternoon naps, and I just can't picture him getting comfortable in any type of umbrella stroller. He's still young enough that he loves his stroller, and actually requests to ride in it when we go out shopping instead of shopping carts. It is definitely big and bulky, and a pain for DH on the bus, but it stores all we carry in the basket underneath, holds our cups up top and keeps DS nice and shaded while he's snoozing. I think it's been great for us! :thumbsup2

I'd go with the Volo. My kids always slept just fine in ours, although my kids have also been known to fall asleep sitting up in the grocery cart if they were tired. :rolleyes1

I think I could probably prop them up against a wall in a pinch! :rotfl:
