I would like to start my Pre-Trip Report by introducing myself.

:wave2: Hi I'm Bridgette and I'm and 30 year old single mother from Indiana. My son, Liam, is 2. He will be turning 3 just before Christmas.

The Beginning: My first trip to Disney World was in 1990 with my Mom, Dad and Big Sister. I was 6 years old and have scattered memories, but the ones that still remain are incredibly magical. We stayed at the Contemporary Resort and visited Magic Kingdom and Epcot.
Things I Remember: M&M Mickey head shaped pancakes at Chef Mickey's, Learning how to hula dance at the Polynesian, My sister being scared of the Haunted Mansion at first then she wanted to ride it a second time, the Tea Cups, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain, Body Wars, and Figment biting the braid in my sister's hair. We still have a Figment towel around here somewhere! :figment:

The Magic Unfolds: Fast forward to June 2008. I was dating a guy and we were planning on visiting his Aunt in Orlando and maybe going to Disney World for a day. That's when I stumbled upon the beautiful adventure that is planning a Disney Vacation! I bought the Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2008 and it was by their recommendation that I check out Disboards.com. (Hence my Join Date of June 2008). In an instant, our day trip turned into one night at Aunt Kathy's and 5 days in WDW. I became a Disney Rewards Visa card holder. We stayed at the Contemporary Resort in the Garden Wing and had a water view. It was kind of a let down because he didn't want to do any of my plans and wanted to be in the room most of the trip. I walked to the MK happily alone to watch the fireworks and shop around during the days. It was blissful. Things between us didn't work out, but our relationship did inspire me to to California to pursue further education in my field. (I'm a photographer.)

Brief Personal Info: When I was pregnant, I left a toxic, life threatening relationship and moved 2400 miles back in with my parents. Overcoming many hardships has shaped who I am, made me a better person and mother to my beautiful son.

When I realized that I would be a single mother I started saving for a special WDW trip for just my child (didn't know if the baby was a boy or girl at the time) and me. After Liam was born, I decided that I'd set a goal for making the trip as a 4th birthday surprise for my guy. My supportive and wonderful parents knew about this dream and graciously gave me some tickets that they won at a charity auction. The tickets had a two year expiration, and so our trip got bumped up by a year.

On December 22, Liam will be 3. Originally I had figured we'd go in January and Liam could open the surprise on his birthday with his gifts. Thanks to the Disboards, I received the helpful advice that if I go a few weeks sooner, Liam could get into the parks free of charge and eat for free at character buffets as long as he's still 2 at the beginning of our trip. As a single mother working 2 jobs, this was incredibly valuable advice.

I booked a room only reservation at the Art of Animation hotel in a Little Mermaid room as soon as the dates became open last year. I am working with a wonderful Travel Agent, Katie, from Hi Ho Vacations. Katie has been wonderful about keeping me up to date on different promotions, special ticketed events and answered many questions.

In September I was on vacation in Florida with my amazing boyfriend and we decided to take a day trip to WDW. We arrived around 11am and thanks to the disboards and my Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World with Kids 2014, I knew about FP+ and Magic Bands. We immediately went to get FP+ for Space, Splash and BTMRR. We managed to get a lot of shopping done, take lots of photos together and ride a few other rides, go to DHS & Epcot for Rose & Crown and Illuminations. He's been very supportive of this upcoming trip and we all wish he could come with us, but work is work and he's a chef. He can't get two vacations in a row. He does want to go back next year when he gets his next time off. He watched fireworks with me, let me do my plans and even carried all of the bags in the parks. He wouldn't even let me carry one when I asked. Such a gentleman! (About time!)

As of this morning, our trip will now take place from Nov. 29-Dec. 5th, 2014. We arrive at Pop on the 29th and transfer to AoA on the 30th, where we will remain for the rest of our stay.

After all of my planning and purchasing a ticket for MVMCP, and TONS of posts about planning trips and bumping into the same people repeatedly, I've decided to plan this trip report! My dream is already a reality since I received our Magic Bands yesterday! (11/13)

I will do my best to keep up with the Trip Report through the Pre, TR, and Post phases and add to it as I go. Photos will come piece by piece. Im going to try to dig up some photos of past trips. I'll have to dust off my scanner! UH OH!

Here is our tentative itinerary.... I say "tentative" because the chances that I will move things around are about as likely as the plans being completely changed due to having a toddler as a travel buddy. :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Some of you have noticed my tendency to move things around. pixie dust:

Arrival Day - 11/29
We arrive at POP on the Magical Express sometime in the late afternoon. Our flight is supposed to land at 2:40pm. We will check-in, get Liam a snack at the food court, change our clothes/freshen up, and then catch a bus to DTD.

Plan A
We have a reservation at T-Rex in DTD for 6:45pm. When I told Liam that we were eating at a restaurant that has dinosaurs, he looked shocked and said, "Mommy, we don't eat dinosaurs..." I said, "No buddy, we aren't going to be eating dinosaurs, we're going to eat at a place that has dinosaur stuff." Then I showed him the photos online and he said, "OOOOOH I like the big octopus!"

Our shopping priorities are to find a holder for pressed pennies at the World of Disney Store and a new buddy for Liam to snuggle with during naps and bedtime.

Plan B
There is also a possibility that I'll throw out the DTD plan and just kick it around the resort. This idea sounds much more appealing to me, but we might be too excited to not go anywhere once we get there. I guess I will find out in 2 weeks!:woohoo::cool1:

Peter Pan FP+
Tomorrowland Speedway FP+
Enchanted Tales with Belle FP+

Other Priorities...

We will have to push through nap time if our room at AoA isn't ready early. Hopefully we will get a little pixie dust since we're doing a split stay. Given the fact that it's our first day, its better to miss nap time at the beginning and on a day that ends earlier than some of our others.

Day 2 - 12/1
DHS Rope Drop

TSMM Stand-by
Meet Buzz & Woody
Ride TSMM using FP+
Try to get FP+ for Fantasmic! 8pm show

ry%3D400

My trip planning binder. Inside is all of my park admission tickets, my Disney gift cards, my Dream Rewards Dollars Redemption card, my Memory Maker card, a copy of all of my confirmation numbers, a print out of Kenny the Pirate's Character map for MVMCP, a list of all of the MVMCP characters times and locations, extra cash, Liam's birth certificate, envelopes with tips for mousekeepers, a notepad and a few other things.

ry%3D400

Hooray! They arrived 17 days before scheduled departure! I've already removed the outer portion of Liam's magic band. I still need to take my cuticle scissors and trim some of the excess off from where the smaller portion was attached to the larger. I haven't shown Liam yet, as he will want to play with it, but he will be so excited to wear an orange bracelet. Orange is his absolute favorite color. He will tell you!

Thanks to a thread on disboards, I got the idea to get this for character autographs. We will also be taking small pieces of cardstock for the characters to sign for our album.

Liam and I decorated these envelopes for mousekeeper tip money. We used acrylic stamps and non-toxic washable ink... and one sticker. Some of the envelope backs have Mickey head paper punch cutouts.

Present and accounted for too :woohoo: Thanks for starting to tell us about yourself and Liam. Our paths have been zigging and zagging, we moved down here in 2008 from NY. You arrive on our wedding anniversary.
I was a single Mom for a few years so I get you ! So glad you have a good guy now too.

I have a long standing/ongoing PTR & TR which has been ignored for a few months due to all kinds of craziness going on in life. When I update it you will see the link in my signature and get to know more about us too. My husband is an over the road truck driver so every few months we are planning something WDW related.

Just read all thru your "trying to do too much with a toddler?" thread cause I am ALSO taking an almost 3 yr old (2 yrs 9m) toddler on his first trip in Jan and I think I planned too much! lol But my plans look pretty much like yours (different rides, but just as busy) so I'm feeling ok. LOL

OOOOOOOH the "trying to do too much with a toddler?" thread was a fun one! I credit that for the creation of this TR!

Welcome everyone! I'm having a lot of fun making this and see it blossoming into something that could be very informative for a lot of parents who are traveling with a toddler. I also foresee a lot of honesty and humorous moments during my live TR.

I'll give you honesty right now ;)

hard to read

Better

:rotfl: remember you have " older "readers

I'm all about some honesty. I fixed it! I'll probably make it all look more tidy later, but I was losing battery on my laptop and tried to make a quick "rough-draft" before it died on me.

Yay!! A live TR? FanTASTIC!!! Just what I'm gonna need!

Yes! DS goes to bed much earlier than I do and I'm planning on updating a live TR every night and sometimes during nap times. I just found out that I have an issue with my version of photoshop now that I've installed the newest OS for Mac, so I'm trying to get it fixed before I go, so I can possibly include a few photos with the live TR too!

Looks like you have an awesome trip planned!! Can't wait to read more! It is getting close!

Liam and I recently made envelopes for Mousekeeping tip money during special craft time. We used non-toxic, washable ink pads, acrylic Mickey & Minnie stamps, Mickey head paper punches and a few have stickers. I'll post photos as soon as I finish up with them. We ran into a hiccup putting "monies" into the envelopes, because Liam wanted to keep all of the cash. :rotfl2:

We went to get a photo ID for Liam today. Before we left the house I told him we were going to go somewhere together and he whispered something. I asked I'm to repeat what he said and I got really close and he was whispering, "Are we going to Disney World?" I told him, "No, Buddy, 7 more days!" He was so well behaved at the Lisence Branch. After we got his photo taken he said, "Now are we going to Disney World?" I said, "No, Buddy not yet. The picture is for the airplane ride to Disney World in next Saturday." He said, "But I want to go now!" I said, "I know, buddy, me too!"

He's such a little lamb. I had to cancel his hair cut last week because he had a fever so I borrowed some of my boyfriend's hair goo and brought a brush to comb it out of his face.

He is so freakin cute I can't stand it :goodvibes...wait a minute I thought this was a surprise BD trip ???
