Pre-Trip

This is my first attempt at a trip report, so please bear with me.

We have been to WDW 2 times before as a family, in Dec 99 and Sept 02. Loved it both times! Our first trip in 99 we spent 7 days in the parks and one day off-site visiting Sea World, our second trip we split between Universal & WDW. The first 4 nights we spent at Universal, staying at the HRH, we loved IOA and enjoyed most parts of US, we also had a half day at Sea World. Then we switched to WDW for 6 nights, we went to both water parks, the 4 main parks and spent 1 day at Discovery Cove. I honestly thought that would be our last time there, which is why we tried to fit so much in during one trip. Our oldest was a Junior in HS, so I knew when she went off to college that would end our trips… or so I thought! :Pinkbounc

Fast forward to this past August… My DD18 was getting ready to leave for college, :worried: I was really bummed, so to cheer myself up I was checking out a few travel sites, checking airline prices just for fun and doing a little wishing. I seriously had no plans for another trip, but then I stumbled upon a great RT air price. Cool! :cool1: Still didn’t mean anything though. And then, and I kid you not, that afternoon in the mail came a postcard from Disney with Fall rates, OK, now I hear you calling me, Disney says it’s time to come home . It was a sign!

So, that evening I bring up the subject with my DH, ask him what he thought would be good prices on RT tickets and Hotel room. He answers with a number higher than I had found that day. Very Cool!!! Small snag, he’s not interested in going again. When DD10 and I say it would be fun, he tells us to go. Really? Just the two of us? Yep. :love1:

Let the planning begin… :wizard:

Booked our dates, picked November 2-9th. Within 2 days of buying our airline tickets, the price doubled and now 1 ticket would cost what we paid for two, we were very happy with that! Decided on Pop Century, we had previously stayed at the AS Movies. DD10 and I spent a lot of time planning, and decided we wanted to do a little more relaxed trip this time… take our time and notice the little things. From this site I had picked up a few little secrets and kept those to myself to surprise her with, nothing big, but I knew she would love them. Our past trips we had overdone the character dining, so we planned to skip these, although I did make a PS for the Ice Cream Social without her knowing it.

Well, in the past we had planned our trips 8 to 10 months in advance… this trip was only 2 ½ months away. DD10 worried about spending money, she had always earned her own and this time didn’t have the time for that option. I suggested a rummage sale and she jumped at the idea, Yeah!!! A clean room and a trip to WDW! Since her big Sis had just moved out for college she was getting a new bigger bedroom, perfect time to go through things and pick what to sell. She did an awesome job getting things ready and ended up making $77, we rounded it up to $100 for her.

We decided to do 4 days in the parks, with 2 down days… maybe going to TL on one of them since BB was going to be closed. I ended up buying 5 day hoppers just in case we decided to spend another day in the parks, and if not I could save them for another trip. Yep, I said another trip… DD18 was a little bummed she couldn’t go so I promised her a trip with just her and I in the future. Now we just had to wait for November 2nd. :bored:

Sounds great! Glad that you got a chance to go back again. Can't wait to read the rest of your trip report.

:sunny:

Looking forward to your report. I always wanted to take each of my dds seperately to the parks.

DAY 1 – November 2nd – TRAVEL DAY and First Evening

Who’s going –
DD10 also known as Beebs
Momma to Beebs (that’s me)

Let me start out with this - I am not a very good flyer… this is my first trip being the only adult, which puts me in charge, I was not very happy about that. But, it was something that had to be done, and I thought I did a very good job hiding it.

We were up early and DH took us to the airport for our 8:15 am flight. There were already lines at several voting places as we went by, I was glad I had done mine weeks earlier by absentee ballot. DD10 wasn’t thrilled to be up so early, but was happy to be going to WDW. I had made an offhand joke the day before talking to my DB and said with my inexperience at flying I just hoped I would catch the right plane and not end up in Japan or something, well Beebs overheard and it made her nervous the entire day until we actually got to the Pop, I think she really thought Momma was going to lead her astray! Little did she know how our getting around for the week was going to come close to that! The theme of our week to come “what’s the weirdest way to get there?”

We safely landed, and our driver (MH Transportation) was waiting for us near the baggage claim. We rounded up our bags and he had us wait while he brought the car around. When we left that morning the temp at home was around 30, I knew as soon as we stepped outside that we weren’t in a state North of Kansas anymore Toto. Our driver had us safely on WDW property and to PC by 3:30, we had a fairly quick check-in and were off to our room. Our only room request had been for a Non-Smoking room, which we got. We were in the 70’s buildings, the Big Wheel. I did not find the walk bad at all, and our room was clean and waiting for us. I loved the theming and the 70’s music being piped in around us, it took me back a few years. We quickly unpacked, then made a trip to the food court to buy our mugs and grab a snack. Beebs had a very large cookie and Momma a muffin. Next was the gift shop, Beebs had her eye on a Pal Mickey. I offered to go half with her, so that her Big Sis can use it on our next trip. We went back to the room, so we could drop off the mugs and get Mickey ready to go.

That evening I had made a PS at the WL for WCC, I had heard so much about it and thought Beebs would love the atmosphere. So, we walk to the bus stop, looking for the MK bus so we could grab our park hopper tickets at guest relations then on to WL. Here comes our first longer than needed trip, there wasn’t a MK bus, only a long line of people… but there was an Epcot bus. Quick thinking, we can go there and take the Monorail to MK… so we hop that bus and off we go. After a short stop at MK to grab the tickets we hop a boat to WL, this is Beebs first time on a boat, :boat: I think she was a little nervous in the dark (again, I had made an offhand remark about alligators, whoops, I need to stop doing that), but enjoyed the sights. We were very early for our PS, so we walked around and enjoyed the WL, took a couple of pictures and enjoyed people watching. We even went outside and caught a bit of Wishes before going inside to be seated. Beebs noticed the fun right away, but I was hoping she wouldn’t catch on to everything going on around her. She ordered a hamburger with fries and I had the pork chops, both were very good. Of course, since she had a burger and fries the waiter asked if she wanted ketchup and when she said yes he asked her to stand up. He pulled out her chair and told her to stand on it and let the table across the room know she needed the ketchup, I wasn’t sure here how she would react. She is not a shy person, nor a quiet one, but she does like to act like she is at times… tonight wasn’t a problem, she yelled with all her might and got the attention of the people who not only had all the ketchup, but everyone else in the room! She loved it and spent the next 10 minutes giggling about it. :rotfl:

After our late dinner we went down to the boat dock and watched the EWP, then started our journey back to our room. Not sure how exactly, but we finally ended up getting on the Monorail to Epcot. Since it was late, there were no busses running from MK. When we got on at the TTC, we were able to sit up front, this made for a beautiful ride into an almost empty Epcot and a great way to kick off our vacation. We then took a bus to PC, which basically was deserted; this happened a lot this next week. Three people got off at another resort, and then sleepy Beebs and I were the only passengers. I set the alarm for myself, then put in a wake up call for Beebs the next morning and we fell into bed.

DAY 2 – November 3rd - First day in the Parks

The plan was to be up and out early, but that was not to be. I got up with the alarm, showered and was basically ready when Beebs got her wake-up call. It took 3 rings to even get her eyes fluttering! After she got up, I went for milk to have with our breakfast… we had brought breakfast items with us to eat in the room each morning. When I returned she had managed to turn on the TV to one of the many Disney channels, but not much else. So we ate, she dressed and we took off for the bus stop.

We jumped on a bus destined for Epcot, we had missed the EE opening, but it was still earlier than the regular opening. Beebs was pretty excited to activate her Pal Mickey; ::MickeyMo I had to remind her not to stop dead every time he buzzed with info because she was creating a traffic hazard :earseek: . We grabbed a FP for TT and went over to M: S, I have to say I was a little concerned about this ride. I do not do well on the teacups or any spinning rides, but wanted to give it at least one try. We were assigned our jobs, I think we were the Pilot and Navigator and given 2 other rookies to ride with. We all did well and pushed our buttons, the bags went un-needed and we made it safely. For that I was thankful, and I didn’t feel the least bit sick. We sent a couple of Space postcards :teleport: and moved on to Ellen’s Energy Adventure, Beebs loved this ride. On our past trips we had somehow missed a ton of this type rides… too busy hitting all the big ones I guess, so Beebs and I had a mission to try as many rides that we had never done before as we could. Ellen’s EA was one of those rides. Another was Figment, which quickly became a favorite for Beebs. We had lunch at the Electric Umbrella, the kid’s chicken nuggets and a turkey sandwich, both OK. After a visit to the Living Seas (Beebs is a total dolphin freak) we took a bus to the AK.

We spent some time in Camp Minnie-Mickey, and took many pictures. Beebs brought her autograph book along, but only planned to use it if she encountered a new character, she also brought along Princess pictures that she had colored with the hope of having them signed by each Princess. We stopped to watch the Jammin’ Jungle Parade, and had a :mickeybar while we enjoyed sitting for awhile. Next we took off for the Safari, and had a nice time there, seeing many animals. By then it was close to closing, so we took a bus over to MGM (we were the only ones on the bus) to catch Fantasmic. We had great seats about 12 rows up in the direct center, not sure if the show has changed but I liked it better than I remembered from our 1999 trip. Back to the resort where Beebs wanted to go swimming, and I was looking forward to sitting with my feet up. She quickly made a few friends and off they went around the pool, playing with the water toys. Beebs made me laugh here, she knows I keep a close eye on her and often looks at me to wave :wave2: and make eye contact so we can “communicate”. Well, once I gave her the “5 minutes left” signal she suddenly forgot where I was sitting and basically avoided all eye contact. I didn’t really mind, I knew she was having a good time and I was enjoying visiting with another Mom there from NJ. My only reason to get her out was because I knew she would be tired in the morning, so after 2 hours I finally made sure she saw that it was time and off we went back to our room. A quick shower and off to bed.

Loved reading your report so far, can't wait till I can take my kids seperately that would be the ultimate me and mom time:bounce:

DAY 3 – November 4th –

Well, there was no moving Beebs this morning! I had hoped to get to MK early and hit a couple rides, needless to say after the long pool session last night it wasn’t going to happen. To top it off, when we finally did make it down to the bus stop I realized I had forgotten to take my medicine, so it was back to the room. Once we got to MK, we again planned to go on a few rides we have missed in the past… this included the TTA and CoP, which again Beebs loved (we are still singing the song). We rode Space Mt and then noticed a CM in front of Stitch, hoping against hope, we stopped to talk to her and she let us know they were doing a run that day and when I asked when a good time to come back was she suggested 11am. We waited an hour in line and met a very nice lady and her niece from Maryland before finally getting to get in the doors. I figured it was worth it, especially since it’s not officially open yet and it will probably be a few years before we get the chance again. Beebs didn’t care for it that well, :sad2: and I found it to be just OK. We grabbed a hot dog at a cart for Beebs and went over to Mickey’s PhilharMagic, which we both adored!

Around 2 we took the Monorail over to Epcot, I had made a PS Beebs didn’t know about. We went on SE, and then went into the Land… we grabbed a FP for Living with the Land and went to watch the Circle of Life. Then I casually steered us towards the Garden Grill and checked in, a few minutes later we were seated and enjoying the biggest sundaes either of us had ever laid eyes on. Beebs loved visiting with Chip & Dale, Mickey & Pluto, she did not care for the ice cream though. Oh well. I tried. As we were leaving we were caught behind someone taking pics with Mickey, not wanting to bug them we stood back and waited… well Dale came along and helped himself to Pal Mickey. I wish I had my camcorder out because he was having a ball with him, holding him by the foot and motioning to the real Mickey standing in front of us. I told him to be careful because if the real Mickey saw what he was doing he would be in big trouble, and when I called Mickey the Big Cheese Dale pretended to smell something awful and make fun of Mickey. Beebs was laughing her head off!

We went on Figment again and sent another postcard home, then watched HISTA :3dglasses (Beebs had me put my hand over her eyes during the snake part) before moving into the World Showcase. We started in Canada, and slowly made our way around… seeing Snow White we stopped to get the first Princess autograph, SW loved the picture and left a kiss along with her signature. We also ran into the Beast and Belle, Princess autograph #2 down! At Norway we went on the ride and Beebs noticed the Kidcot station and wanted to make a mask. Well, we found out that you could collect an item from each country to add to said mask, and here we are nearly around the World already. You know what that means! We went to Mexico and rode the ride there, and went on our mask quest. It was 7:30 when we started and by the time IllumiNations had begun we had gone back to each country and finished her mask. After IllumiNations we slowly walked to the front to catch our bus, and back to our room.

DAY 4 – November 5th –

This was a sleep in day, Momma made it until 9:30 and Beebs didn’t stir until 10am. Beebs woke up a little stuffy, but each time I asked if she wanted to take something she said she felt fine and didn’t need anything. I need to add here that she hates medicine, either liquid or chewable, doesn’t matter, she hates them all! Knowing this, before we left I bought something just in case she did catch a cold, but I bought a pill that is swallowed. Once I told her the medicine I had was a pill, and not a chewable one, she said she would take one… do I know her or what? ::yes:: What I didn’t plan on was how it would make her feel, although I should have known that, she is my daughter after all. It said non-drowsy formula, but there isn’t a pill out there that works that way for me, they always knock me out. :faint: We took off for Typhoon Lagoon, spent a couple hours there, and tried to have a late lunch (need to say here that this was the worst experience by far in the food dept., I had to return the pizza because it was ice cold, and the one they replaced it with wasn’t much better). After sitting to eat Beebs realized how tired she was. We left and went back to the room and Beebs took a nap, a several hour nap. I quietly wrote out some post cards and read for awhile; when she woke up we went to get some supper from the food court. Neither of us was very hungry, I had a small salad and she had a bowl of fruit. While there though, the song The Hustle came on and all the CM’s went out into the center of the area and began dancing. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: Earlier in the week when I had heard that song outside I had sort of hummed along and Beebs thought I was crazy when I told her about the dance that went with it, so thank you to all the CM’s that evening who showed her that Momma’s not so crazy after all. One CM even tried to get her to join them, but she still wasn’t feeling that well at the time and declined. Back in the room, she took another cold pill, and we played cards until she was tired and went to bed for the night.

DAY 5 – November 6th –

Beebs was up and bright eyed and bushy tailed this morning, :bounce: we were off to her favorite park and she was feeling 100% better! We were at MGM for the opening and went straight to ToT (this has been her favorite ride since our first trip when she was only 5 years old! She loves it and especially loved that there are no longer any lap bars!!!) Afterwards we grabbed a FP for ToT and then went to RnRC, another fav. While on our first ride of ToT I told Beebs to check out the sign board just before you go into the room and read what was on the bottom where the letters had fallen off, the look in her eyes :earseek: as she came back over to me was priceless!!! Beebs had her face painted (the Bird Mask), and I am so glad she chose this park to do that in because she was worried all day that it would get wet and smear, thankfully there isn’t much to get wet on at MGM. After a few more rides and visiting with Mickey, we had lunch at 50’s Prime Time, Beebs had the chicken nuggets (seeing a pattern?) and I had the pot roast, which was wonderful! Next we stopped at the Indy show, I was about to tell Beebs to pull on the rope in the well when Pal Mickey piped up with the same info. We did a few more rides and then finished up with ToT, at one point during the day the stand-by wait was 100 minutes so we were happy to have our FP’s.

Leaving MGM, the plan was to go over to MK. I say plan because I noticed the boat and thought that would be a new way to try (remember this trip was about doing things we had missed in the past trips). So, we hopped the boat to Epcot and once we got there you know you can’t just zip through… we stopped to see Jasmine who we had missed the other night. Princess #3 down! Before Jasmine & Aladdin came out though, the Genie showed up. :genie: Well, Beebs was on a mission and had already gotten his autograph, so even though we were first in line she declined to meet him as did a few others behind us (they were also waiting for the other 2). Well, poor Genie, he was heartbroken! He turned and walked sadly away… Beebs took the bait and went over and they had a grand time, he showed her several hidden Mickey’s in the backdrop and danced with her too. Finally Jasmine & Aladdin came out and Beebs took a picture with all 3. We stopped in Ice Station Cool on our way to the Monorail, and I very nicely did NOT encourage Beebs to try the Beverly. We did try a few others and enjoyed those.

Finally arriving at MK, we took the train around to Toontown. There we got autograph’s of Princess’ # 4, 5 & 6… Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty and Ariel. Now that was a long line! Many parents by this time I think had reached a point that there was no going back from, even my DD10 noticed and commented about it. It was very sad to see parents yelling at their kids. We walked around for a long time after that trying to find somewhere to eat, and finally ended up at Pecos Bill’s, Beebs had a hot dog and I tried the salad, neither of us was very impressed and I left over half of mine untouched. Next we went on Beeb’s favorite movie ride, pirate: PoC, she was even wearing her t-shirt from the movie that day. Another few rides and then we caught Wishes, which was beautiful! HM, Dumbo, Snow White and Pooh followed, then we watched the 11pm Spectro from beside the castle. We hung out for a long time afterwards, watching the castle colors and waiting for the crowds to die down, did a little window shopping down Main Street and then found our way to the bus stop for the crowded ride back :crowded:

Each night after getting back to the room, we would go for a drink from the food court. Loved the frozen coke machine! Although I quickly learned that one did not work as well as the others, it was more like a regular coke, barely slushy at all.
The Goofy water jet play area stopped working around this time, so we missed seeing the kids playing in it every night as we went by. They put up a portable fence and it was out of commision for the rest of our trip.

This was the latest night out we had while there... so we were more than ready for bed!

Sounds like a perfect day: ToT, characters and Spectro and Wishes. Where do you get you energy?
Keep the report coming, really enjoying it,
Claire

DAY 6 – November 7th –

Another sleep in day, gotta love those! After slowly rising we hopped a bus to AK, then to the AK Lodge. We shopped and found a few things there, then went to see if we could see any animals. We were able to and after walking each side of the resort we jumped on a bus pointed in the direction of DownTown Disney. This was our shopping day! :goodvibes As we walked through the little glass making shop (forget the name) the guy just happened to be making a dolphin figurine, well that put us on hold until he was done. Beebs was mesmerized watching him, and I have to admit he did amazing work. Soon we were at the World of Disney and had our list out; we were able to cross all names off - but one, not bad! Beebs was doing pretty well on watching her money, several times she picked something up and then did the "is it worth it" look. She would ask me how much she had left, then usually decide to put it back, saving her money for something else. In the end she bought herself a very pretty bracelet, with Mickey heads on it with matching earrings, a Mickey link for a bracelet she had back home and a stuffed Minnie to go with her Pal Mickey.

We took our purchases back to the resort and rested for awhile, then took a bus to MK so we could hop on a boat to Fort Wilderness. The plan had been to visit the petting zoo, eat and go to the camp-fire and movie. We were running a bit late and missed the petting zoo being open, but could still see the animals, and we walked through the horse barn. Next we went to the Trail’s End for supper, after a short wait we were seated and told to help ourselves to the buffet.

The food there was fabulous, especially after eating counter service for a few days. Without even asking Beebs I could tell she was happy, she had gone and picked up 2 chicken legs and a slice of ham and was eating like I had been starving her all week! To anyone who saw her, I really did feed her each day, she was just happy to have what she called “real food”. This was one of my favorite places that we ate in all week, our waiter had great advice on how to get to the camp-fire and even for the parks the next day. My only problem there was the lady who kept using the same plate over and over to get more food.

We were a little late getting to the camp-fire, so only heard a few songs. The movie was Beauty & the Beast, so we stayed for that, it was a little cool but not bad. We had brought our jackets along, just in case. After the movie I realized I wasn’t quite sure what the best way back was, this turned out to be one of the best moments of the trip! We got on a bus going to the TTC, then were going to take the ferry (one of the last ways we hadn’t tried yet) over to MK and hop a bus to PC. As we got to the ferry, the crowd coming off was overwhelming, but there was only 1 young couple waiting to get on with us. The girl said to us “hey, don’t steal our seat” in a joking way since there would only be the 4 of us. All the way over to the MK, Beebs and this girl were joking back and forth. :hyper2: Finally we reach the dock and see another crowd waiting to get on, there must have been a thousand people standing there and here are the 4 of us waiting to get off. Beebs and this girl decide they look like Royalty coming off this boat… so as they let us off the girls start doing a royal wave. You know the one “elbow, elbow, wrist, wrist”, they were loving it! I grabbed my camcorder and taped them leaving the ferry doing their royal wave to this horde of people waiting to get on, I am sure people thought they were crazy!!! But they didn’t care and were having the time of their lives. So, if you were one of the many people standing there waiting to get on the ferry that night… that was my DD acknowledging you all as she went by, feeling like a real Princess! princess:

DAY 7 – November 8th –

Our last full day this trip :( Why does this day always have to rush up on us? Once again, the plan was to get moving early and once again that was not to be. I was still getting up early each morning and getting ready before the wake-up call that was meant to wake up Beebs, so I was ready when the phone rang, she on the other hand just couldn’t get going. When we finally did make it to the bus stop we waited for 2 busses and just as we got to the front of the line and were about to step on the waiting bus… Beebs says she needs to make a pit stop, so out of the line we go (people really were looking at us like we were crazy this time)

We made to AK a little after regular opening, and our first stop was Dinosaur. Loved the picture afterwards, it’s always fun to ride this with first timers! :scared: At one point we ran into Devine and stopped to watch, how amazing! We walked through the Pangani Forest Trail and the Maharajah Jungle Trek, before Beebs used a FP to go on Kali… I stayed dry and watched her from the bridge. We went back over to Dino-Land and got a FP for Primeval Whirl, then played a few games as we waited. I won DD18 a frog and Beebs a turtle she promptly named Mo. (Yes, that was me the rest of the day walking around with a frog strapped to the top of our backpack and Mo the turtle popping his head out from inside!) After PW, we stopped on our way out of the park to eat at Flame Tree. I highly recommend this one for a different counter service meal, very good! Beebs had a child’s meal, can’t remember which one, but she liked the corn on the cob that went with it. I had the pork sandwich and it was really good, Beebs even helped with it. We got the child’s meal deal and grabbed a water and some popcorn as we walked out of the park.

Now we took the bus to TTC and then the ferry to MK, we wanted to spend our last night there. As we entered the park I suggested we take the train to the back of the park, Beebs thought that was fine, anything to save a few steps at this point! I guided her to the rear of the train and then stalled getting on, she couldn’t figure out why. Finally the CM came by and I asked if Beebs could be the Guest Conductor and the CM said yes. Beebs followed her back there and stood in the back of the train, she got to say “all aboard” over the intercom and wear the CM’s hat, when the train got rolling Beebs had to push a few buttons and then enjoyed a conversation with the CM as we went around the park. Her buttons were busting! She loved this and I thank whoever posted about it awhile back, it made her afternoon!!! We again tried to hit a few things we’ve missed in past trips, the Hall of Presidents, Country Bears… plus favorites like BTMRR, Splash M, PoC, Goofy’s Barnstormer, and the Carrousel (I showed Beebs Cinderella’s horse and she was able to ride it later in the evening). We were amazed each time we went by Peter Pan all week, the line was always long, up to an hour that evening… but we used FP and 3 1/2 hours later we were able to ride it. We also went to Mickey’s PhilharMagic again, and right before 8 pm we rode Space Mt, as we were getting off and moving along the “people mover” towards the exit Beebs leaned forward and said "I'm picking up speed” It was a very cute moment that reminded me of her Big Sis (Hi Rana :wave2: ). As we left Space Mt., Wishes was just beginning, we took a seat in TomorrowLand to watch them, and I called Big Sis at college so she could listen to them with us. Knowing it was our last night we took our time and walked to the castle. We took a ton of pictures, knowing the bus line would be long, so no need to rush there. Eventually, just before 9 pm we walked down Main Street for the last time this trip and said our good-byes, then went to the bus stop.

When we reached our stop, I realized we had walked past the end of the line! It went out of the queue area and down past 3 other stops. There was no way we were getting on a bus any time soon!!! As we stood there talking with a few other people, a man suggested going over to the Contemp. and catching the Monorail from there to Epcot, then a bus from there. I thought it sounded much better than standing there waiting for who knew how long, so off we went… another family of 3 joined us. It was a lot of walking, but I think it got us back to the Pop much faster. We arrived back at the resort around 10:20 ish, grabbed a quick snack and went to our room. Beebs fell into bed and went right to sleep and as inviting as that looked I knew I couldn’t do that. Tomorrow we were going home and somebody had to pack that room up! I was up until 1am, making everything fit. Thankfully I had packed an extra (empty) bag, so going back we checked 3 instead of 2.

DAY 8 – November 9th -

No sleeping in today, we got up and went down to the food court for breakfast, then finished cramming the last minute items into the suitcases. We left the bags in the room and walked around the resort, taking pictures and looking at all the larger than life icons. There was actually a line to take pictures with the Potato Heads! We enjoyed our stay here and wouldn’t hesitate to stay there again. At 10:45am sharp our driver pulled up as Beebs was hoola-hooping out front and whisked us away to the airport. She still had about $10 left, so we hit an airport store and soon she was broke, wouldn’t want to carry any extra money home with us! ;) Looking outside, I could see that it had started to rain :umbrella: the first time during our whole trip, what timing! Beebs passed the time writing in her journal for school, and she seemed less nervous about flying alone with me this time. Guess since I had gotten her there OK, she felt a little better about my abilities, plus I promised no side trips to Japan. We were supposed to have a 3 ½ hour lay-over on the way home, but when we landed I checked my phone and had a message from my DH. He had checked on an earlier flight for us, told us the gate number, and said that it showed as full when he looked online but that we should look into it anyways. We did and were able to get on stand-by with seats next to each other in a flight less than an hour after we arrived! Yeah! Luggage didn’t make it, but I would rather have been home and then go back to pick up the luggage later than sit in Minneapolis for over 3 hours with a tired Beebs.

All in all it was a great trip, the crowds were a lot heavier than I expected, especially at the MK, but I am glad we went.

Things we learned on this trip:
We split up the back pack every morning, I took the camera bag and she took the back pack to get through security. It was easier to go through and took less time this way, then I would put the camera bag back inside the back pack and off we went.

The frozen Coke at the Pop Century is addicting, it became my every night before going to bed drink, very tasty. :drinking1

At some point you are going to be in someone’s picture, it can’t be helped. Instead of getting mad like most people I saw, I smiled and told the person no problem when they noticed. Life’s too short to get mad about a picture that can be re-taken!

Enjoying the little things really made our trip special this time, Beebs spotted a snail and tiny lizard at Epcot that she named Carl & Jim. I took a picture of both so she can remember them. Beebs also used the digital camera a lot to take close-up pictures of flowers, I’m going to print them out so she can add them to her scrapbook. :flower1: :daisy:

I had an arsenal of tidbit facts from this site, most of which I was able to share with Beebs on the trip. Thank you to everyone here for all of those tips! Cinderella’s horse on the Carrousel, being Guest Conductor on the train, looking for Tinkerbelle (even though we missed waking her up), Lady & the Tramp’s footprints, Walt Disney’s name on a window, hidden Mickey’s, the fountain where Cinderella’s crown looks to be on her head, seeing the castle from the drop on Splash Mountain (I had always closed my eyes at that point before)… the list goes on. We didn’t get to see and find everything, but that’s why you plan for future trips!

This was an awesome trip, and I am so glad we went. I am also looking forward to planning the next one with Rana, my DD in college who is now 19. That trip will be a little different because it will be 2 adults. I will need to find other tips to surprise her with! Until then…
