"Mom, this is like a whole new Disney!" New 7/30 - pg 43 - Final Thoughts & PTR Link

Sorry I was behind on your report, but I am here now. Looks like you had a great camping weekend!!

Sergio looks like fun. The "trying to steal the ball, you yelling no" is a classic vacation picture. That always happens with kids doesn't it?

Great photopass pictures.

It was great that Test Track was open. So glad that Alex was ok with you buying markers etc for him to have at dinner.

So sorry you were having tummy issues and had to play it safe .

Wow, I love the pictures you bought :thumbsup2. They are beautiful. Hmm they would look great in our bathroom too. Now you have me thinking. Was the price reasonable?

You got to see Heidi, what a great meet. Aww the picture of Zach and Danica, too cute. The kids look so cute together.

No worries Tracy... you've been a busy lady lately! Glad you enjoyed my updates!

The pictures cost $20 each... so I spent $60 - 10% AP discount. They had larger prints but obviously they cost more. It may be hard to tell in the pictures I posted, but the prints themselves are only about postcard size (a little bigger) but are bigger because of the mattes.

The DISmeet was so fun! And it's great that we are planning our next family trips during the same week in March!

Wow I come home to a gaint update and our DISmeet too cool.

Love the pencil case that you got at Mousegears....might have to look for that for me!

We're going to do the Boma breakfast next trip....it's one of the few non-character buffets.....I'm planning it for our water park day so we can spend some time looking at the animals.

It was so great to meet you today! The boys were so cute too looking for my kids with the gift bags. Thank you again for the wonderful prizes for Liam and Danica....They LOVED all the stuff....that was very thoughtful of you!!!! We'll have to meet again soon without the kiddos and swap plans for Feb/March.

Oh and I got a Mango flavored Dole Whip at that ice cream shop.....second visit and they still didn't have the pineapple one.....maybe next month.

It was sooo much fun to meet you guys on Sunday!! :cool1: We definitely need to get together again before Feb/March!! Glad you got your Dole Whip... sorry they still didn't have pineapple... I guess that's a reason to go back. ;)

I love those prints! An AK themed bathroom would be VERY cool Amy. I think it's neat that you got to have a Dis meet. :) Looks fun!

The DISmeet was fun! I think I'm going to go with an AK theme for the bathroom... I was looking at towels at Target yesterday. :thumbsup2

I'm subbing in super late over here. But very much enjoyed what you have written so far. but hey you already are planning two more trips, so now I won't miss out on those.

We actually met on the disboards like a year ago or less. I was planning a ptr that didn't happen. But am happy to report we are finally getting our disney trip. My 5 yo has mild autism. My 2 yo is so far neurotypical, but I watch him like a hawk, and he does exhibit some minor traits, but so far manageable.

I'm reading along and going yep, that is how I figure my son will be, so this is a great read for me. I'll have to ask more about the GAC as we get closer to our trip.

Your boys are adorable. Glad you finally were able to get the diagnosis for your younger son so you can get him services. I think that is the hardest thing. I've been bombarded with paperwork and transporting our son all this summer for the new school program he is going to be apart of this upcoming year.

How many trips have your boys taken to WDW? They seemed to handle everything quite well.

We have noise reducing headphones too, I know you used them for the fireworks, but did you use them on any rides?

Can't wait to read more...:)

Thanks for joining in!!

Disney is so fantastic for families living with autism & I'm glad my experiences can help others!! I'd be happy to answer any questions you have. Feel free to PM me any time!! :goodvibes

I know what you mean about being bombarded by paperwork, etc. My goal this summer is to get all of that sorted out for Zach. Luckily I don't have to worry about school stuff since he'll just continue where he is & we already wrote his 504 for the coming school year. (Our principal left in June so I wanted to write it early to have his input.)

Alex has taken five trips (16 months, 5 1/2, almost 7, 8 1/2 & 9 1/2), Zach has taken four (2 1/2, 4, 5 1/2 & 6 1/2). They love Disney & now know the routine & the layout of the parks, which rides are where...

Zach used the headphones on one ride... more to come on that. ;)

How neat that you were able to meet up with Heidi and family! The pictures of the kids playing together are just precious!!!

The kids were really cute together!! Zach loves little ones, he often asks me if I'll "hatch" another baby for him to play with! :rotfl:

Looks like a fun meet!
The kids are adorable :)

It was a lot of fun!

Hey! Way to go for Sergio! He is fun! We saw him a few trips ago, too, he reminded me of the boardwalk performers! Score for new markers and such! My DS's have to have "stuff" at dinner, too.... ;) Great way to divert the situation! I agree with you on the fencing at the AKL and Villas... it is hard to keep it 100% aesthetic I guess.. it is all about safety for the animals as well as resort goers... Still, it is really neat to see these animals up close and in your back yard! Seems like the day went well, Boma is a great choice, we have not been in a while, but I hope we can try it again next trip.

HOW cool you got a DISmeet in! How exciting! Even brief, it is fun to meet people you practically get to know so very well on the DIS!

Sergio was so much fun! I guess we need the "stuff" at dinner as much as Alex does... gotta keep him busy! When he gets bored nobody is happy. :rolleyes1

I'd love to stay at AKL some day... almost did for the fall girls weekend, but we couldn't pass up the great location of BWI!

The DISmeet was great! :thumbsup2

wow I was behind!

Boma :thumbsup2 on the buffet, what a bummer you couldn't eat much, the soups are amazing!

Smart move on just buying more markers.

Toddler Save. How lucky you were there!

Hot tub squisher-inners....That's bold. I would never in a million years think to ask. Reminds me of two scary flight stories I just heard. People boggle my mind at times. I mean really, how "together" could 4 people be????

DISmeet with Heidi. How much fun! I can only imagine how nuts between the 4 of them at their different ages, I remember outings like that and they were exhausting and not much time for chatting. Fun but...whoa.

I could eat up Danica though :goodvibes so cute!

"Hot tub squisher-inners" :lmao: Yes, bold is a good way to describe it... or just drunk! And we weren't the only people in the hot tub... there was another group of four or five in there too... it was clearly already full!

The museum where we had the DISmeet was a perfect location for the kids of all ages!

YAY for a DIS-meet!! It looks like the kids had a lot of fun!:goodvibes

Lots of fun!! :cool1:

Day Nine (Friday, April 30th):

Today was going to be our Epcot day, but since we switched things back to our original plan, this would be our resort day. :faint: Jeff, Karen & K would be leaving today. We pretty much took it easy and hung out by the pool. I think Nancy took Alex to throw a basketball around for a little while. We ate breakfast in the condo and had lunch by the pool courtesy of the Pizza Hut/KFC/A&W food court. I also remember some yummy drinks. I didn’t take a lot of pictures today, but here are some of the boys fooling around in the water with Tim, Jeff & Nancy:

At one point a family next to us lit up some cigarettes. :headache: We tolerated it the first time, but then one of the women lit up another one right after she put out the first one. And they had little kids with them. :confused3 It took everything I had in me, but instead of coughing & choking on the smoke, I went over to them and let them know that smoking wasn’t allowed on the pool deck and pointed out the smoking area. My heart was racing… I don’t know why I was so freaked out… but luckily they were nice about it and stopped smoking. I think they were whispering about me later one, but oh well.

Shortly after lunch Jeff, Karen & K had to hit the road. First there are the mandatory group pictures:

We said our good-byes, Zachary cried his eyes out and they left. :sad1: He loves them so much & loves all the attention he gets when they are around.

Now what to do… we decided to head to…

Looks like the boys had a blast in the pool!

I hate when people smoke so close to kids! I am glad you said something to those people!

Ahhhhh.....so important to schedule a non-park day. Especially for the men folk.

BTW..... I got Liam into Swing for the Stars for speech once a week! OT will be tricker because of insurance but hopefully that will be resolved with Katie Beckett by the time an OT slot opens up for him.

Well you know we are all anxious to hear your plans for Claire's first birthday!!

I'll be there if you find the time to write one!

hey other Julie...

I'd so be there too...how is mom life treating you?

I agree with Heidi. A non-park day is a must.
I'm planning on sleeping in at least one day during our upcoming trip. Let's see if that actually happens :rotfl:

I think resort/down days are soooooo needed during a vacation! Great idea. Sorry about the smoke but bravo for you, asking them to head to the smoking area. Gross!!!

Down time is hugely important! I am mildly worried I don't have enough planned how, is it wrong if our full resort day is the day we move to Universal?

:lmao:

I would think your prints would be ok as long as they were in decent frames in a bathroom but I guess it depends on the ventilation situation in there....

It is a good idea to take a break, and not having to rush is always a plus! It is vacation after all! ;)

hey other Julie...

I'd so be there too...how is mom life treating you?

I think I'll always plan a resort day in the future... at least a half-day! It was a nice break.

Wish you could have been there to meet Heidi!

I agree with Heidi. A non-park day is a must.

I don't know if sleeping in would work with our crew... but a pool day is nice too!

What a fun resort day, pool time is the BEST!!! :)

:thumbsup2
