Ok This is just funny.

Cam came in and said " Mom youve got to hear this really great new song!"

So I pop in the headphones and hear "Ill stop the world and Melt with you"
:rotfl: :rotfl:

OK so I was listening on an Ipod as opposed to a tape player but the lyrics were the same LOL.

So what songs have your kids "discovered"

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

That's so funny!! My kids haven't discovered any "new" songs yet, but I love this!! A really new great song!!

Dancing Queen !!! My DD discovered that some months ago and thought it was cool :rotfl:

I have heard this on Radio Disney and it just cracks me up because "Valley Girl" was one of my favorite movies as a teen!

I loved Valley Girl too! I have heard a commercial lately with "I'll stop the world and melt with you" and I always find myself singing along. I think it is for cheese?

My DD has discovered the band Queen, and now has put all my old ELO albums on her Ipod.

When Cam was about 4 he came runing in and said " Mommy there is a new show and the man sings and has BUBBLES!"

Well I followed him in and guess what it was???

LAWRENCE WELK!!

He is so cute :) :lovestruc

My girls have discovered Lawrence Welk too!! They were flipping channels one night and came upon it. They loved the "pretty dresses" - orange chiffon :scared: DH and I were :rotfl2:

Laurie :)

and said you have to listen to this song it is by a christian band so she put it in the tape player and it was......

Beth by Kiss... my husband said honey i have some bad news for you the bands name is kiss and they arent christian they are heavy metal and that song you played was writtin in 1975,, so he went it to the bed room and got his kiss tape out and showed her the tape, poor girl..

Queen, Pink Floyd and Led Zepplin have made a come back in our area.

Oh yes! This just cracked me up!!

My DS9 discovered "Bohemian Rhapsody" by Queen. He was humming the tune and butchering the words (but then again, who really knows all the words? :rotfl:

Momma Mia, Momma Mia - momma mia - LET ME GO !!!

What a blast from the past! And my son was so impressed that I knew about this "really cool NEW song!" :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:flower: :flower:

We did the Melt with you over the summer-- they like the old version better

Most of the Sky HIgh movie soundtracks was 80's songs. All my kids had heard of them before.

They also know Always something there to remind me

Our Lips are sealed
and a whole bunch of others

Around here, the Beatles, Doors and Zepplin have made a comeback. In fact one student that I had yesterday was discussing which AC/DC songs they have on thier Ipod versus which AC/DC songs that I have on my Ipod... it was kind of interesting.

My son wanted me to watch this new show with Will Smith called The Fresh Prince of Bel Air. :rotfl:

Korn's Another Brick in the Wall (I hated to break it to him about Pink Floyd)
Motley Crue Smokin in the Boys Room
Alien Ant Farm Smooth Criminal (he was appalled that MJ did it first :rotfl2: )
Bad Religion Tainted Love
Depeche Mode Personal Jesus
Guns n Roses
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Misfits Ballroom Blitz
Murder Dolls White Wedding (he's never heard of Billy Idol)

That's among a few.

It really bothers him that I've liked a lot of this music first and that I still listen to the same stuff he does. He's like, "Can't you listen to what other old people listen to? Like country or some crap like that???" :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Yeah, kid. Once we all reach the magical ripe old age of 30, we all of a sudden forget everything we liked in our youth.

For me its Get ready to Wiggle and The Monkey Dance, but my son's only one. And I never listened to those songs on my own in public.

Maybe it's because we're in Texas but a lot of the kids like some country too. But DS told me recently that Pink Floyd, Zeppelin and some of the other "old" bands are considered cool in his school.

Who would of ever though? ;)

A few years back when Moulin Rouge came out, DD discovered "Tiny Dancer" by Elton John. I love when a song would come on the radio station that she chose and I could sing along. It freaked her out.

DD13 only listens to classic rock or hair bands. She thinks that today's music is terrible and wishes she could have been born a couple of decades earlier.

This has been a must sing-along song in our vehicle for years.

MY DD 20 for years has been bugged by the fact that she will tell me a new song she really likes and play it for me and I will start singing along because it is a re-make. The best one though was a Destiny's Child song a few years ago... we were sitting in her room listening to the CD and I just started to laugh when that song came on. I asked her if she liked it and she confirmed she did, and then I informed her it was a re-make and the best part was it was a BeeGee's song! That girl cannot stand the BeeGee's. It was too funny!!! :teeth:

A Little Thing Called Love by Queen, and Brown Eyed Girl. My 9 year old dd love these songs!
