I'm planning on taking my DS7 (almost 8)on a disney trip just the two of us. I took his sis when she was about his age. Any tips? The plan is Nov 13-17th, so not a long trip. Last year the family did MVMCP so not sure if we need to do that again. Mostly did the rides. I have an annual pass but he doesn't so I'm thinking about getting him a hopper. He's not that into characters but he does like meeting mickey. Planning a Tusker house meal since we've never eaten there. Considering a night time dessert party to something special.

DS11 and I have traveled on Mom/Son trips frequently since he was 3. What are your son's interests? When my DS was that age, he was really into Pokemon, so a trip to the store in Japan was a must-do. He also loves sports, so sometimes we try to fit in a stop at ESPN on the Boardwalk, then we do the carnival games and watch the jugglers and magicians there. On our next trip, we are going to the NBA Experience in DS. My DS has also enjoyed Pirate's League in MK as well as all of the interactive activities in the parks - Pirate's Adventures and Sorcerer's in MK, Wilderness Explorers in AK, Kidcot in EP, etc. He also really enjoys the HEA Plaza Dessert Party in MK and the Star Wars Dessert party in DHS. If he particularly like Fantasyland or Toy Story Land, you could consider doing one of the Extra Morning Magic events in MK or DHS. In terms of dining, my DS really enjoys Sci-Fi at DHS and loves Hoop Dee Doo Revue at Ft. W.

Everything you do together will be great so don't overthink (said in the most caring way!) and don't over plan! Remember kids that age like to play and we often return from a Mom & me vacation and ask what the best part was and the answer is the pool (especially if we can work in a nighttime swim!).

I would consider the star tours dessert party and pirates league if he would enjoy being dressed as a pirate on your MK day. Tusker House is one of our favorite meals - if he likes animals there are some special tours and some cool face painting here. If he hasn't already done this maybe the jedi training at HS - its free.

Remember that you can always upgrade his ticket on the spot if you do decide to park hop so you don't have to spend the $ in advance if your not sure about hopping.

Outside the parks maybe rent bikes at FW or OKW or a surrey bike at the boardwalk, water sprites at CR or BCYC.

If the weather is warm enough, consider a water park. I LOVED water parks as a child and they are some of my best memories from Disney. Pirates and Pals fireworks voyage is something else I want to try when my boys are a little older and can reliably stay up late.
