I'm so sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. My Mom passed away on the fourth of July, and I remember feeling as you do, wondering if she realized what day it was and chose to go that day. The fourth was the day that she had the entire family to her house every year, to enjoy lunch and go see the local parade and fireworks. It just made me wonder...
Thanks to all of our dear DIS friends. I am off to church this morning. Mom never missed until she was hospitalized. To top off all that is going on, our church had a gas leak this week so we are meeting at another church. It really will feel so odd. Her funeral had to be changed to the funeral home instead of the church and that breaks my heart. Our church family is a family, too, so we will be together wherever we are.
So sorry to hear of your loss. I know all to well the pain of losing a mother. My mom died in November '04. We were unable to have her funeral in her church because it had blown away in Hurricane Charlie. A nearby chruch was happy to step up and hold funeral services there instead. Perhaps you could look into another church in the area?
