First, I'm the mom of a 14YO DD. I need some teen help. DD is not real excited about going to Disney. I am an absolute fanatic. We have been the last 3 years for Spring Break, she always seems to have fun, but when I suggest going, she kind of rolls her eyes and doesn't seem real excited. Kind of like, been there, done that! Even took her best friend along this year, but still acted like it was no big deal!

Here's my dilema. I want to take family for Xmas. But DH, DS(7) and DD(14) are very adamant that we are not going anywhere for Xmas, they want the traditional xmas at home and are kind of freaked out by spending it in a hotel. DD is the most upset by this! So I suggested we pull the kids out of school a few days early, go in mid-December when xmas decor is up, but crowds are low, and then come home in time for xmas. They are open to that, kinda.

My DS is only 7 and he's happy with anything we do. My DD will be gone in a few years, so I really want to make this time memorable for her. (I know you thought all of us Mom's were just out to make your lives miserable!)

So I need your help in convincing her to go to Disney before Christmas. Any thoughts or plans what I could do on this vacation to make her change her mind????? Give me some of ideas of what you thought were the best things you did at Disney, what resorts are best for teens, etc...

Thanks for your help!

I am 14 also and am the total opposite! But, i'd maybe ask her what she wants to do when she gets there or ask her why she doesn't seem like shes excited. My 17 year old brother is like that... he just don't show excitement.

Have fun!

Say, "Honey, we're going to Disney, and you will have fun!"

Just kidding. I'm the total opposite as well. I'm 16 and I absolutely love Disney World. As far as what could change her mind, . . . I don't know. :surfweb:

Good luck with the vacation! :wizard:

yea, for me its the complete oposite, expecially during Christmas time. Although I wouldn't want to be there on Christmas day, if I dont go sometime before christmas, when the decorations are up, then It doesnt feel like Christmas for me.

"You're going to the HAPPIEST PLACE ON EARTH AND YOU WILL BE HAPPY! OR ELSE"

usually works. ;)

Hmm maybe let her do something for her one day, if she wants to go to KNOTTS then she can go or the mall and such and have each family memeber choose what the families doing that day.

We did that before and it worked out great. I agree, you should have a family member decide what they want to do on different days.

Well telling you I am different from you DD isn't really going to help. While you are there, I recommend doing the Osbourne Family Lights. A great thing for family bonding. May I also suggest while you are there, is spend less time at Disney, and also spend 1 or 2 days at Universal Studios. I know that is Heresy, but they can have more rides that may appeal to your DD more. Also while at Disney, the Hoop De Doo Musical Revue you have to see. If you don't have fun at that, then you. . . well . . . then I don't know what to say because that is impossible.

Fixed.

lol hidden and bellhop. I am dead serious though. I find a couple of rides that fun at US. Not all, but there are some that I have in my heart next to HM and Mission Space.

Yeah, I know what you're saying. I actually agree with you. Your DD might find that she actually likes Disney more than Universal.

i'm completely opposite...
i've never been near x-mas time but i would love to...
i don't know if i could ever get bored from going, but if i'm going like a million times, i prolly would start to get tired, but i would still wanna go...
my mom went every year in the summer when she was a kid cuz her grandparents lived down there and i don't think that she ever got bored even though it was just the Magic Kingdom at that time...
tell her that this will be better than school...
anything is better than school for me...
i hope i could help...

i know what your daughter is goingt through, with all the crowds and people it doesn't feel like a holiday with you and your family but she needs to see all the good things around her at DL/DW. but she will enjoy it even if she doesn'y show it and in years to come she will remember it and how much fun she had. have fun and have a magical day :wizard:

My mom and fam. has the same exact problem as you do. my sister (now 15) is not excited about Disney or anything that has to do with Disney...that much. We are going in June and she said shell stay home with my grandparents. All you to do is say fine dont go and that you will hire a babysitter to stay home with her. She might be like great or if shes like my sister, will be like maybe i will go. I hope that helps and that u have a great time in Disney. :teeth:
