Mom needs a Break... so I'm going ALONE! PTR *NOW W/ PICS!*

I just realized that my PTR had 99 posts!!!! I thought I'd make it 100:thumbsup2

WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!

1)Let me just ease your mind a bit, my solo trip was one of my favorites by far. I never had to ask what anyone else wanted to do. I just did my thing. 2)The halloween party is amazing. DON'T miss the parade!!!
3) I've always wanted to do the tour too, I'm so excited to hear how it is.
4) I'm really glad you have picked stuff you've never done before.
5) Try & check out the street preformers. I think there is a schedule in the park pamphlet. W/ the kids I found we get too busy trying to get from place to place.
6) Definately do pastry in Paris. WE go every year for breakfast.
7) There is an amazing fountain show to music in Epcot.
8) I told DD I'd take her to Disneyland Paris when she turned 13, but then I got pregnant & we had to wait. Now its planned for her 16th b-day. She's so excited b/c she'll be able to drink. She's taking French in high school & is really excited to see all the stuff she's been learning about. We are taking a bike tour of Versaie & a DeVinci Code tour. If you need any info or links pm me.
8) No guilt allowed on the trip. Think of all you do for your kids & DS all year long. You deserve this.

Thank You!! I love all the encouragement!! Folks at work found out I was going alone and they all think I'm nuts:confused3 Except one of my techs (he's only 22) who is jazzed cause I told him i'd go to the lego store for him:lmao:

2)The halloween party is amazing. DON'T miss the parade!!!

I'm excited about all the special events at the party esp Villians mix&mingle, parade, and hallowishes!!

3) I've always wanted to do the tour too, I'm so excited to hear how it is.

I'll give you the scoop... w/o giving away any secrets of course!!

4) I'm really glad you have picked stuff you've never done before.

:thumbsup2

5) Try & check out the street preformers. I think there is a schedule in the park pamphlet. W/ the kids I found we get too busy trying to get from place to place.

We've seen alot of them...but I'm really hoping to get to sit thru an Off Kilter set... DDs think they're too loud:rotfl:

6) Definately do pastry in Paris. WE go every year for breakfast.

Yummo!!

7) There is an amazing fountain show to music in Epcot.

Forgot about that!! What a great spot to take a break!

I'm not an international traveller LOL!!! So I'm really leaning toward doing one of the Adventures by Disney trips for our France/Paris trip. However I was planning to add a couple days to the end (I have no idea why Disneyland Paris isn't part of the itinerary:confused3 but if we're going that far... we're adding a couple days to do it!!) The DeVinci Code tour sounds really neat!! I'd love a link to that:goodvibes . DD got a "learn to speak French" CD that she's been playing with... so maybe in <3yrs between the 2 of us we'll at least be able to find where we're going:rotfl2:

8) No guilt allowed on the trip. Think of all you do for your kids & DS all year long. You deserve this.

Thanks again!!! I am having a little guilt trip today...so I needed that!!

Well I finally got moving on some WDW trip related activities today:cool1:

I started packing.... it's a little early, but honestly it's been so chilly, that my furnace has been kicking on occasionally....and its been damp. Summer clothes are definately NOT needed anymore!! So I washed them up today and packed up what I'm taking Yippee!! I still have 1 pair of cropped pants hanging in the bathroom drying, but once they're in the bag, I'm down to toiletries and last minute stuff:thumbsup2

I FINALLY solved my park bag dilemma. I decided to go with one of my Vera's. I only have a dozen... but you know how it is... this is too big...and this is too small... uggghhh!! Well I came to the conclusion that I needed it big enough to fit my camera (which is a Sony DSLR so it's kinda big) My extra 80-200mm lens, my travel wallet (again a bit bigger than a usual wallet, but has a flap for park maps/boarding passes/etc...very nice for travelling), a poncho that I hope I don't need, my little notebook for jotting things down, and I think that's it. I wanted it to be big enough for all that junk, but not big enough to stuff much more in:thumbsup2 Or else, I'll be signing autographs as Quasimoto.... cause I have a tendancy to stuff my bags FULL!!!!:rotfl:

So without further ado.... my park bag..... Vera Bucket Tote in Raspberry Fizz (I love how they come up with such fun names for their color schemes!!)

My other projects today included making my LGMH to put on above Vera. I made 3.... Thanks Lady Lallie!!! LL said in her TR that her LGMH went awol before she hit her 1st park.... so I figured if I was making 1 I may as well make 3... just in case mine goes awol too:laughing:

I also made my Mousekeeping Envelopes. I wonder if the mousekeepers enjoy getting decorated envelopes as much as we enjoy the towel animals:confused3 Anywhoo... I have a pic of both of them too. I used my flash and it washed out Mickeys head... but it really is lime!!!

In other related news... DH has decided to take vacation the week I'm gone. So he will be taking DDs to gymnastics and dance all week. So to prevent any major fits on behalf of DDs.... I taught DH how to fashion a bun!! Yes, the man who can not fashion a ponytail, needed to learn to put in a ballet approved bun. :rotfl2: I haven't laughed so hard in ages!!!! But I think he's got it now:thumbsup2 OK.... I'm off to put my camera charger in my suitcase (I'm always afraid of forgetting it!!) and I'm also going to put my ME tags on my suitcases.... yes I'm taking 2 suitcases, although 1 is going to be pretty much empty on the way down. I intend to fill it up while I'm there though!!!:lmao:

Paula

Miss Paula- I'm starting to think we were separated at birth! ;)

Thank You!! I love all the encouragement!! Folks at work found out I was going alone and they all think I'm nuts:

My work too. I should take a picture of their faces when I tell them b/c it is complete and total uncomprehension. Why in the world would you do that? Oh well... their loss!

I'm excited about all the special events at the party esp Villians mix&mingle, parade, and hallowishes!!

I'm excited for MNSSHP too! And starting to obsess over whether I'll be able to get a picture of the headless horseman (that's what too many hours on DIS will do to you!! :sad2: )

I'll give you the scoop... w/o giving away any secrets of course!!
I can't wait to hear about the tour!! :thumbsup2

Me too!

I've been thinking about ABD too!!!! Let's go together!!!

I started packing....

That definitely makes it real!!

It's not easy being you, is it? ;) Just kidding! I totally know what you mean. LOVE your bag!!

Your craft projects came out great! I'm glad you mentioned that the flash washed out your LGMH b/c I was thinking to myself "why would she go to all that trouble to make a white one??"

Yes, the man who can not fashion a ponytail, needed to learn to put in a ballet approved bun. :rotfl2: I haven't laughed so hard in ages!!!!
Oh, that does sound funny! But he gets points for trying!!

OK.... I'm off to put my camera charger in my suitcase (I'm always afraid of forgetting it!!)
I had a dream last night that I forgot mine!!

Good plan! Can't wait to hear what you bought!

How did you make your LGMH? I see medal around the edge. It's good your DH took vacation. Now you won't have to worry about making arrangements for someone else to get them where they need to go. My DH SWEARS he can't put in a ponytail. I'm going to have to teach him. He says his "big manly hands" can't put in a pony.:rotfl: Yeah, right!:rolleyes1

I love your bag!! The mousekeeping envelopes are great, and the lgmh!!! You are getting so close!!!

I went back and looked at the pic.... although it does look like metal, its just the laminate. I cut it out on my Cricut machine.... then I wrote my name on.... then I laminated it ... then cut the laminate down so it was more mickey shaped, instead of square. I got the LGMH from home depot... but they were really thin once separated from the backing paper. I wanted something a little sturdier...so I used cardstock. It was a little lighter green than the HD alien green...but only by a 1/2 shade or so. I liked how they came out. They're pretty sturdy too, hopefully it won't snap off the little keyring hickey I found in the junk drawer. It was so pretty with the beads I had to use it... even though I have no idea where it came from:confused3

BTW... is that a new Hawaii ticker????? Didn't remember seeing it before, how exciting!!!

I think I have MORE cause for alarm now that DH is in charge:lmao: I'll have to make a color coded spread sheet to get him to comprehend where everyone needs to be and when and for how long.... because of course it all overlaps :rotfl: Hubbys have NO CLUE what excellent time management we Moms have!!!!

Paula

Well I just got done ordering the pixie dust suprise for DDs friend, I'll call her Minnie:) . I debated back and forth several times... it was pretty expensive... but I think she'll be excited with it:goodvibes I know I would be!!! I did go with Disney Florist... thanks everyone for the suggestion!!

here's a pic of the basket I ordered. I hope that the one Minnie gets is as nice as the sample:thumbsup2

They're going to MNSSHP... I don't think Minnie knows about it yet. Just in case.. I didn't put a reference to it on the card... We signed it "Have a 'wicked' good time with Minnie and Mickey!!! Eat a Mickey Ice Cream bar for us!! "

I can't wait to find out her reaction!! Her mom knows somethings up, cause I checked with her to find out is the room ressie was under her or DH name... so that the Disney Florist can find them!!! I'm all a-flutter!!

What beautiful gift basket! Is the pumpkin plastic or ceramic? It looks quite nice.

Suz

I was finally able to catch up at home so i can see the pictures! :) i love the basket you chose! they are expensive but I LOVED using them. they're going to love the basket!

hahahha, i always love watching guys try fixing little girls hair. it's the cutest thing ever! :)

Since it is marketed as a 'kids basket' I expect that it is plastic or some sort of polymer:confused3 The website didn't specify. However Minnie is 11, so I'm sure regardless, she'll put it to good use:thumbsup2

Well peeps, 1 week from today i'll be leaving... I'm going to Pittsburgh next Sunday and staying as a park and fly for my monday morning flight:woohoo:

I have had at least a half dozen "what the &^%#@$ was I thinking" moments in the past week:sad2: I can't believe that I am just now second guessing myself about this trip! I know that it's the "unknown" (travelling solo) that's bothering me. I also know I need to suck it up and just do it... I'll be glad I did:goodvibes

One thing that I'm very happy about is leaving the cold weather!! I woke up to a chilly 39F here this morning!! I really don't like the cold... I just haven't been able to talk DH into a move to milder climes! I was pretty excited to see my trip dates are now part of the 10 day forcast. Even though I know that the forcasts are only relatively accurate the next 2-3 days... It's nice to get an idea what to expect!! Arrival day is scattered Tstorms and 84, tues is partly sunny and 81F.... :thumbsup2
Florida ALWAYS has the chance of T-storms, but at least for now, doesn't look like anything too major:) Hopefully I'll have a nice night Monday for the halloween party!

We're going to a fall festival with lots of food and crafts and whatnot today (I really hope it warms up!) When I come I'm going to do more laundry and some incidentals packing. I have the clothes pretty well done, but i did get some travel sized toiletries and ponchos at Wal-mart yesterday:yay:

Paula

Yippee! Your trip fitting within the 10 day forecast is a major milestone!! :cheer2:

You WILL be glad you went and I can't wait to hear all about it. Take good notes and please pass along any solo tips! :goodvibes

:wizard: for your trip!!

:wizard: for your trip!!

I'm taking my laptop... but I'm not doing any "live" reports so to speak. But if there's anything I think you DEFINATELY need to know.... I'll PM you!! You'll be leaving what like 2 days after I get back:thumbsup2 I'm a dis-a-holic, but I know my TR won't be done before you leave!!!! However I'll be happy to PM you any 'spoilers' you may need for your trip:rotfl: Have you thought about the Tune-In Lounge?????? I was thinking I might try it on my DHS day. Any thoughts????

Paula

wow I would love to go alone. I am going with my DD (22) at the beginning of November but I would love to walk around all by myself and do what I want instead of worrying about what everyone else wants. Maybe next time!!!!:lovestruc

I leave on the 23rd. I have heard great things about the Tune In Lounge. I'm back and forth on it. I was planning on it but food porn lured me into an ADR at Hollywood Brown Derby for the Cobb salad. I don't know. If I don't do Tune In in Oct I think I definitely will in Dec. It looks really fun!!
