One of the things I was considering when we joined DVC was doing a mother-daughter weekend. So this November I'm 'treating' my mom to 2night stay at AKV for her birthday. We won't necessarily have a car but I wanted to make sure everything was super magical for her.

I was thinking it would be a perfect place for her to relax and hang out and do whatever. I was thinking to make meal reservations for her birthday but I haven't decided where to yet.. I'm still torn b/n suggesting we go shopping for food or doing at least one breakfast out.. My mom has heart issues and isn't necessarily on a special diet (she does Weight Watchers but she also has to control how much liquid she drinks and something about having greens to assist w/ her medications).

Keeping this in mind, I know she won't want to walk around overly much & she definitely WON'T use one of those ECV things.. She doesn't have an Annual Pass so I'm currently limited to taking her to resort restaurants..

I guess my question is, how much of a hassle will it be to try and use Disney transportation from AKV to other resorts?? I'm really worried she'll get frustrated w/ me wanting to take her to the Wave or someplace at the Boardwalk... I want her to have a good time & surprise her, not wear her out. =) Thoughts? Suggestions??

Thank you!!!

The best way to get from resort to resort is to take a bus to a park or DD and then hop another bus to the destination resort. If you are headed to the GF, Poly, or CR (Wave), then take a bus to the MK and hop the monorail to these resorts.

We stayed at CR last month and had dinner at the Wave. All of our meals were flavorful and delicious. It had probably the best selections for our vegetarian daughter! The most disappointing meal of the trip was at Wolfgang Puck's. Huge portions, but a little on the bland side. :sad2:

Hope this helps,
John

Why not spring for a cab? I realize it isn't cheap but it is a special occasion and it's for your mom  If we don't have a rental car we sometimes will do this going resort to resort for an dining ressie.
